What makes you go to Tournies

Post by footbinc »

I figured this would be the best forum for this:

What are the deciding factors for people going to tournies?

 Cash?
 Proximity to Location?
 Others attending?
 Prize Money?
 Time of year?
 Something Else?

Im just curious about this?

Thanks

Proximity and location is the main choice for me. They have to be close or I can't go. . . to broke.

The dates is also big. It seems like any tournaments close to me are on weekends that I can't go to them. . . I haven't been to many yet.

I've only been to one real tournament, but I went not to compete, but to hang out with all the cool footbag people.

Cost is an issue for sure though. I'm a little worried about GRASS 'cause I'm damn near broke, and the states are expensive...

States aren't too expensive. . .
The exchange rate kills us, but after that the prices are a bit cheaper so you should be alright. Just don't go crazy and watch your spending, that's all.

I go simply to shred with other people and have fun. The competition aspect of it has absolutely no value to me.

But, if I had to be 100% truthful, I do it for the groupies.

i am more likely to go to a tournament if people i know are going, or if people i want to meet are going. especially big names. big names draw crouds. i'm less likely to go to small jams, unless they are near by. if there's a place to crash that's a huge plus, and if the schedule is well defined and laid out well in advance that's a real bonus. gives me time to get my stuff together. a designated players party with a shred area is always tops.

1) Location
2) Time
3) Expenditures

Those are my 3 reasons to go (or not) to a competition. I think you have to agree Ben, we don't have a lot of opportunity to hit all the jams way up at the North Pole

Definitly money. I make a point of going to every Australian comp but would definitly go to every footbag event in the world if I could afford it...

yeah, you never compete you little biznizzle!

Ill go to any tournament/jam, anytime, anywhere, with any who, and however big or small . The only deciding factor is money, cause I have no car or access to one (for now) so I am forced to fly or take a bus, but gas prices are up so maybe bussing is cheaper.

If I can afford to get there and back and manage to not starve I will go.
