Hey Jaydee!

Before someone else tells you so, everyone has their name in their signature. It makes it way easy for us all to know who eachother is. You should do that.

And you should thank Robin a million times over for opening your eyes to the greatest thing that ever came your way.

as somebody who's just started footbag, here's the two things that have helped me the most in the last four months:

1) stretch! - stretch before, during and after you play. stretch when you wake up in the morning. stretch your ankles when you're standing in line at the bank. keep yourself limber!

2) both sides! every trick you hit, try and hit it on both sides, always drop the bag to your weak toe/clipper first. always try and hit a trick on your weak side first. even if you end up hitting it on you strong side right after, the fact that you tried it on the flipside will help!

that's basically it. also, get some lavers, 'cause they make a WORLD of difference.

I will contest on the both sides part. im still a newb but i practice everything on both sides and it helps so much. it will seem shitty but then when you hit your first double dex because of all your both sided hard work its very much worth it.

Start practicing clipper and ATWs ASAP. Clipper is taking so much time to develop so i say the earlier the better. and practicing ATWs both sides both directions. will strengthen the muscles used for all the harder dexs. Atws are nice cause you can practice them anywhere. sometimes i will just be watching tv at night and decide to stand up and hit atws during comercials barefoot.

Use nice insoles to avoid shin splints. take my word for it drop the 20 bucks on some nice spenco insoles. they are made for athletes and are feather light shin splints suck royaly and they have disapeared since my upgrade.

Play in public as much as possible dont take for granted that you discovered this sport try and do your share of promoting as much as possible. I recently started shredding at outdoor public skate parks for example.

Have fun.

Oh you may find it interesting that im a didgeridoo player too. you down unders have awesome taste in musical instruments i love to play my didgeridoo

Hey man,

Welcome to the best sport in the world :D

Check out
http://www.worldfootbag.com (gear)
http://www.flipsider.com (especially the practice room)
http://www.footbag.org (Everything you need to know)

Shred today. Just go kick whatever bag you have around with whatever shoes you have. Start with the basic kicks and then try stalls. Order you some rod lavers and mod those babies up and you can stall anything.

Have a great day

Yo, welcome to the board. As mentioned - don't forget about the name in sig.

The best advice for getting good at footbag is to practice a lot but more than that - practice in a smart way. Always think about what you're doing and where it's going to lead you. Also be very disciplined. I sometimes spend an entire session drilling the one component. Also always consider the style and technique of a move. Lots of people have different style, but sometimes the way you hit a move makes it harder to do other stuff out of it. I feel that I can improve the style on every component I do. There are a lot of things that aren't that necessary - but always be aware that you can improve the technique - and try to look for faults you need to work on.

Oh one more thing - read as much as you can. The more you can learn about footbag the better. When I started I carried the footbag.org move list around with me and would read it all the time. I also read every single page at footbag.org (I think anyway).

Of course maybe you aren't that serious about the sport - it takes some time to get into and you might just want to have fun. If that's the case - still try and work your best at both sides - you'll be really thankful of it in the future.

Best of luck!
