The first shredder using g units that i saw, was Max Kerkhoff at
Todexon ; i remember when i asked him what shoe that was,
and i was so stoked when he told me, that they were g 6's .
I mean i sell these on a daily basis and i always play in my
break at Foot L., but i never thought of g units as a shoe
one could ( bah, change that to SHOULD ) use em for shredding.

After Ellis' review, i became quite curious and i tried them out
at work, and even unmodded, i fell in love with them straight
away, after hittting butter>whirl without much effort.
Since i'm still quite new to freestyle, i'm not clinging to lavers
just because they've been around forever, and now after buying
and modding them, i dont see why i should play with lavers again -
traction, instep and cushioning are just beautiful !

It will take some time to get used to the toes, as Max ( sNale )
pointed out, but thats ok with me, withall the advantages the
shoe has.

And hell yeah, i wear/ use them in public aswell - my feet are so big
anyway, so every shoe i wear looks a bit silly, if you are thin
legged plus having size 12 like me

I wait for the day, when you see top freestylers representing in some
50 cent video, thin, ascetic athletes alongside of steroid infested, apathic
gangstas ! bíg lol to that...

I played my first session with G-Units yesterday.

Took my about 15 minutes to get used to them (the toe maybe a bit
more, it's neither better nor worse compared to Lavers), and I have to
say:

I love them!!

The Insides are SWEET. no roll-offs and my Osii and Butterflies were much
more controlled.

The modification took less than 10 minutes, it's super-easy.

The shoe feels a bit more bulky compared to Lavers, but then again,
the cushioning and traction is so much better, I didn't have any shin splints,
and I didn't feel any pain in my calf this time.

G-Units all the way!

They'll feel a lot less bulky after they break in for a couple months. Switching from lavers to g6's made me want to take a cheese grater or something to the sole and shave off about a centimeter from the bottom. I got used to them pretty fast.

Sorry to bring back an old post,but I just got my g6's. So we are keep the inner layer? Cause I have canvas like layer there, as my last inner layer,like the layer you can see on the inside of your shoe. So do I mod that off and the outside leather and leave 3rd layer or what?

remove the leather leayer, and then there is another layer in which you remove and expose all of the fluffy gray material. Peel off the fluffy gray material and you have an extremely thin layer left in which you keep.

anything that has a knife taken to it can easily rip. the only wear on my thin layer is from my toe constantly grinding against it which I fixed with some household supplies. just be super careful when modding these shoes

So in Bulgaria there are original g-units and they are about 90 USD and fake which are 28 USD and there is no difference in the quality. Also the fake comes in different colors and the original it only in white. Its realy odd

The fakes are probably made of cheaper (= lighter) materials, which may or may not be a good thing.

We'll see. Already six players bought the cheap version here but they look strong you know. Im sure we'll be playing a long time with those shoes.

I bought the camo trim ones.

I've been modding the instep for about 20 minutes...I count 6 layers total

1. Leather
2. Rubber Foam Stuff
3. Paper
4. Laver-esque inner mesh
5. More Foam
6. INNER MOST mesh

I'm down to number 5 right now.

edit: Took off the foam with a credit card...kind of messy, but totally solid final layer. I guess I'll do the other shoe on Sunday when I've got some more time...

Should I be doing the toe? It feels really really slippery as is now...I'll probably end up taking the top off the toe too.

Definitely mod the toe. I recently got a pair of G-units and I LOVE them. It took about a week to begin to love them, to make the transformation from lavers to the Gs, but it was orth it. They are lighter than lavers, gripier than lavers, and waaaaaay more comfy on the feet.

I like G-Units more than Lavers, when both are fully modded.

Wow....this thread has really made me want to try them.

My Lavers are almost ready for the trash, and i'm looking for new shoes, maybe i'll rep 50 and buy some G-units!

How is the toe surface modded? The same way as the instep? And what about cutting the wings (is it useful/neccesary?)

Hi Adam, the toe box is modded the same way then the inside. It is really easy to do! Just be careful and don't rush it, but it won't take longer that 20 minutes

I didn't cut the wings of and I they don't bother me at all. So I suggest you don't cut them off at first and try how that works for you.
