sorta off topic and not but how do you and your wife get along being a jew and you christian? <== really a honest question not like a haha you cant thing but how. you think shes going to hell and she doesnt so hows it work? im in that situation only vice versa. plus just for fun the burnt offering went out the door with jesus he was the last offering made.

unless your a jew than the offerings went out with the last temple. thats to throw some more water in this fire.

You know what, its funny cause I wonder the same thing.

My wife is born again and accepted Jesus long before I met her. But her kids are kinda in limbo. They are Christ's Jews. I think about that and I laugh inside, cause it contradicts itself on so many levels.

I tell my youngest that she can't be both and call it both. But she can claim both and call it something else.

Meanwhile, my mother-in-law is a full practicing jew, so I'm all confused about that one.

We celebrate both sets of holidays. I'm learning a lot, but in no way leaning jewish, no offense, I obviously believe in Jesus.

I don't think the girls are old enough yet to make a choice one way other the other and we don't pressure them on it. Unlike the pressure I've put you guys threw. [sorry about that]

WTF! I don't even know what to say to this. Do you only play footbag because its a heterosexual sport? (not that i think it is a so called heterosexual sport) Would you really stop freestyling if most footbaggers were gay? Why??!?! I play footbag because it is fun and for many other reasons, but basically because I love it. If every footbag was suddenly a Sam hater or something, I would still play footbag.

For someone to make a statement like the above one that I quoted, leads me to believe they arent a true footbagger.

i think you SHOULD focus on volleyball, but try not to join any volleyball forums because people will probably just end up hating you

Like I said, "I just don't like the asthetics of it all."

I was quite good at Volleyball before footbag. Had I known what I was walking into, I probably would have turned the other way. And yes if this sport goes over 51% gay, I'm outty. I don't swing that way, as was painfully obvious over the last 4 days.

Tolerance is a 2 way street, which was the point of this thread. I may not like gays, but maybe they don't like me either Sam. I'm ok with that if they are.

Still got nothing but love for you. Sorry you feel that way.

In actuality your wife would be Jewish by heritage/culture, but not by religious practice. Your kids would also be Jewish by heritage because, in Judaism, the bloodline follows the Mother. As for there religious practices, they could always become Jews for Jesus or "Messianic Jews" who are seldom Jewish by birth, but are both Jewish and Christian in belief.

Damon, I know that your close-mindedness, arrogance, and fear will never allow you to admit it, but you are a homophobic bigot. I would be great if someday you have the courage to admit this to yourself, to your family, and to your friends, but this is just wishful thinking. Perhaps the saddest part is that as a father I can only imagine that you are helping to promote this intolerance and hatred to another generation of impressionable minds. I don't like gays. I don't like being called a bigot either.

But if we can co-exist with you thinking I'm a bigot and I still get to dislike gays. then we have succeeded.

I think that a good test of if you are comfortable with not liking gays is if you can keep it to yourself. You don't have to do it forever but if you can do it for a month then it will help you become a stronger person.

To be honest I kind of agree with Zach in that I think people often take things way too seriously and no matter how horrible a persons opinion is - resorting to insults makes your arguement look much weaker. I mean I found what Damon was saying to be ridiculous and insulting to some of my friends, but I also believe that you can't come to an agreement with attacks - and really understanding is the key to peace.

I guess sometimes I don't take topics on modified very seriously. Mainly because people sometimes say something really stupid and I'd like to feel big making them look stupid rather than being mature about it. Also I have a lot of fun debating - that's why I like Damon so much - because most of the time he argues well and you can have a real debate with him - not a flame war. Anyway I guess my point of this paragraph was that none of us are perfect - so don't feel like I'm attacking the people who abused Damon. I just personally didn't think it was the right thing to do either.

edit: most of the offensive posts in this and the philosophy topic got deleted. They were basically fairly offensive to everybody on the forum and probably don't need to be repeated.
