so he is banned, hmm

I really don't like idea banning, he wasnt being dumb and posting a bunch of swear words all over the forums, trying to advertise, or hacking the forum. Whatever though, lets just put it all in the lock box . . .

uhhh.... apparently someone has no idea what they're talking about. Possibly you're being sarcastic, but it seems more likely that you have no idea what happened. Go back and read what Brad said in the beginning of this thread.

ascii code. [press "alt" and hold] type 1 6 8 on your num pad [release "alt"].
you can also write greek letters and ugly smileys this way

hahah I remember when I was like.. 14 I sat there trying over and over different combos of ALT+numbers writing down all the cool ones I found.

I didnt know at the time that Character Map has all the answers.

To this day the only one I remember is ALT+0191 which is a second way of making ¿.

I must've missed alot yesterday. I don't know the whole thing but I was there for most of the first discussion that got Damon banned. I read and re-read the second one (Tolerance goes 360) and I don't see why Damon was banned. He was holding his tongue for most, if not all, of that thread. It was attacks on him that were being made. He apologized for his remarks and gave reasons why he felt so strongly on the issue (Philosophy). It should have ended there. I do not think Damon should be banned. I don't know what you two (Damon and Brad) talked about, or why he "agreed" (I REALLY don't understand that. why "agree" to be banned when you could just not come back?) to be banned. So you don't like what he has to say, don't read or don't reply to it!!! <-Not directed at anyone in particular. Bring Damon back!!!

Damon wasn't banned by the mods, he asked to banned so that he wouldn't be tempted to come back. It was a voluntary decision by Damon to leave the forum.

At least that's what I was told.

I have to jump in and say that a ban is pretty undesirable solution to this. If you review the situations where members have crossed boundaries and become offensive or hateful, it is usually a response to 'baiting' or 'ganging-up' against a single individual. Damons posts are only empowered by the volatile responses he can elicit from others here. While extremely humorous, the soliciting for flames (which has happened in the last few locked threads) from an already upset person reminds me of restraining a child by their forehead and laughing as they swing their short arms at you.

Damon has repeatedly exhibited his recalcitrance and his ignorance toward the 'pluralistic' community most of us embrace. His view is obviously the extremist minority and he can be as vocal as he wants; what does it matter if no one pays any attention to him? I think we would find that once his inflammatory posts are given no credence, they would not happen.

he pretty much banned himself as a way to keep him from this forum to allow him time to cool down. I don't see any reason in debating the action taken.
