Graduating Class of '05

Post by habitat »

Well this year is the year I graduate. I've been waiting a long time for this to finally happen. I was just curious to see who all else from modified will be graduating this year and what day.

Im graduating on June 14, although I get out of school like a week and a half before.

Also, what are your future plans? Straight to college? To work? Break?

Personally, I wanted to go right to college in September and what not, but I decided not to. I have a fulltime job lined up for the summer, manual labor and shiz. I hope to get like $4000 for a place and to save up for college next year. Wow, I'm a big boy now!

Anyways, what are all you other graduating seniors plans?

I will be working the first year, also hoping to get some coin before going to college or a university to study nutrition (most likely as my major) and kinesiology.

I'd also like to travel too.

Take that $4000 and put it into a Roth IRA. Don't touch it. Let it sit until you are 62.5 years old at which point you can take it out tax free. Wanna know how much it'll be? $1,000,000.

Think that won't be much in 40 years? Maybe not, but it won't be chump change either and it will be TAX FREE because of your retirement age.

Actually the timeline shows that you should put $1000 away each summer from the time to graduate high school to the time you graduate college. So it would be $4000 principal by the time you are 21-22 years old. Then you sit back and let compounding interest take over. If for some reason you hit 40 years old and can't make your house payment you can still take out that initial $4000 principal start up without penalty.

Back on Topic.
I'm not graduating (already did that 12 years ago). But I was wondering how you all feel about it? I remember how excited I was, but when the time came I was really sad about the whole thing.

that really sweet to hear jeremy! It's really going to pay off sticking through high school when at times my life felt like it was going nowhere. I can't wait to have all my own bills and financial responsibilities.
