Surely sir, five merlins in a couple months should be no problem, I may even make a couple of them fancy ;-)

Where's your blog at!?! I told you you HAD to make a blog. Everyone should flood Luis's inbox with PM's telling him to make a blog.

And, EVERYONE needs to watch the two polish videos; they're really really sweet, I had no idea how good they were over there...I should have guessed after playing with Verilina (sp? sorry :-( ) at worlds. Props again to poland.

There's only going to be an hour session today, but I'm gonna tear it up! Expect some good highlights.

Peace guys,
Bum

Neither, it was Jeff who is even newer to footbag than Steve or Andrew.

I appologize for not being able to stay longer... But a lady friend was feeling bad, and a guy who drove her home needed to get back to his place...

Gonna have another session soon? Lemme know! Who knows? I may formally come out of retirement.

I think for not kicking in.. god knows how long, I did ok... nothing great, nor anything really good.. just trying to get back into the groove of things...

@ henry: While andrew and steve ARE sticking with it and doing fabulously, it was actually andrews cousin Jeff who started a month after the other two who hit DATW, and the other two aren't even close. Jeff should be officially better than steve and andrew by next weekend if he keeps it up, but I have a feeling Steve and Andrew are going to be working harder now that baseball is over and after today: (yay, I get to talk about today!)

I have been so excited for the past 24 hours beacause I worked as hard as I could to put together an EPIC session, and although half the meeting fell through, it was still stupendous beyond vegas's history (aside from the official events).

First of all: EVAN CAME!!! (we kinda had to drag him, but he enjoyed the day very much and was with me for 5 hours after the 4.5 hour sesh)
Second, Ben was finally healed! at least mostly; he was both sided and very good.

Now, even though there were 14 people who blew me off, and the film student couldn't make it to film it, we had 15 people in attendance including 3 first timers and 4 people never around anymore (5 if you count Evan).

Attendee's:

Me, Ben, Evan, Shawn, Jeff, Steve, Andrew, Mike, Noe, Chris (1st), Travis (1st), and Kalie (1st). And, my mom had come to check it out (more on why in a sec) and kicked for about 25 minutes (she might have hit it twice once too) and had a blast (she did it to help me encourage the other girl and show her she was doing well, what a good sport).

We played net for the first time in at least a year (and steve and andrew did really well, and the other newbs liked it too) and boy did Shawn miss it. And, for any of you who know about my shred mp3 cds, I compiled all the music together to make the best one yet (over 3.5 hours of PERFECT beats, like, I hit every beat to every song every time I had the bag, almost)

And, RED BULL made an appearance (two really hot red bull girls in fact) (hence my mom coming) and we got tons of free product and talked about some possibilities, and I'm sure the executive guy I've been talking to will make it down in the next few weeks (WOO. HOO. nuff said)

About the newbs:

Chris also works for red bull (but didn't help in getting them there, yet...but he's going too) and has played with me on three occasions. He was a seasoned hacker when I met him that was pretty one footed and had the basic stalls all pretty down, and now has clipper pretty good, is more both sided with his kicks, and will soon be dexing (despite being tall and proportionate)

Travis has been trying to make it down since Steve and Andrew came the first time, but this was his first time around us. I was surprised he could clip pretty well (one side), liked his kicks, and loved his inside stalls (both of them). He thought net was pretty cool, and after making sure his dad came down to talk to me when he picked him up, he should be around alot in the future.

Kalie is totally awesome in all ways, and is so stoked on footbag its terrific. In the past she's danced, done gymnastics, and figure skated (what better components for footbag are there? I keep forgetting to ask her if she played soccer or juggled) She had a typical girl start, although (even though she was late and only caught 90 minutes of the session) by the end she had kicked it three times, has the kicking motions good, and was even more stoked. Better yet, her (now former) boyfriend who was going to come didn't.. (even though he's how I know her and I'd like to get him playing too, footbag might be what finally fixes him) so woohoo, lucky me. The only problem is she hits the bong like a pro and I quit smoking... I hope she doesn't pull me in the wrong direction... (I know many of you would say its not the wrong direction, but please don't post it, I need to be sober for a good long while and get really good and learn a bunch...and since this is the only time I've brought up pot on here and the only time I will, I'd like to mention to all you stonies that Vasek's nickname for me [isn't it awesome that he has one] is the czech word for stoner... man worlds was fun...anyway, moving on...[it'll be fun without herb too, I know it])

I hadn't played with Noe, John, or Luke in forever, so it was great to see them, they all did well (especially Noe, he hit pixie ducking symp reverse whirl, which is his dream trick and his first non dada 6 add, and a very styley trick too, go Noe! He was my first official student [padewan] you know.) and it was great to see Shawn get off his ass and do something good for a change. He hit good base four adds a bunch, was mostly guiltless, and did all kinds of pinch and x body pinch shit, it was sick.

Steve, Andrew, and Jeff are doing SOO great. I'm so glad Steve found me. They will change the course of Vegas footbag forever. They'll all be guiltless by the end of the summer. I'll try to get them blogging soon.

(wow, the club seems like the czech image in 2001. A couple old hackers that are pretty good and styley and getting better slowly, a big shredder pushing his friends for the past year and a half (thats me as Ales), a prodigy child that caught up in a year (Evan as vasek), and someone who's close behind who started around the same time and right behind (Ben as Honza). The only thing is I don't know if Evan will surpass me that much now that I'm totally serious again and not smoking (shit, mentioned it already  ). And a bunch of really focus newbies. Worlds 06 should be SICK!) [I know this may not be an exact comparison, but it does seem similar doesn't it?]

As for my PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

I played really well, though was definitely not in schooling mode. I hit Bladerunner for the first time finally (atomic eggbeater) on the first try, prefect and easy into a run, hit predator and food proccessor again (which are still hard), hit shooting butterfly and mullet in the same run, lots of blurry whirls, blurriests, s+m smashers, and fusions (first trys in runs), busted my seven add for the fans first try into a great run, and closed the day with a great 33 contact run that ended with 10 tripless into a dropped five add. Got great routine ideas now.

As for the no shows, we should see some of them next week hopefully, and perhaps the guy will film too. Fricken Brian blew me off and DIDN'T EVEN CALL depite him just getting his new Blue milleniums. I want em! There awesome! And so do tons of you guys, I know it! He doesn't deserve em if he is going to miss the biggest session ever ... especially when he promised to be there for at least a bit ... and I worked so hard to get them from Lon for him too, he wouldn't have even known about them if not for me. And he hasn't been playing for months "because he didn't have a good working pair of footbag shoes anymore" and the first time he does, its the biggest session and he MISSES it totally, and doesn't even call. He was doing so well with everything lately too, moving forward and back to the best friend I missed. I don't know what to do about him now. (sorry about the negativity, I probably shouldn't have let it out, and will try not too on here again unless its about Bush or something political, environmental, or socially detrimental and ignored)

But despite all that, the Vegas seen exploded from my energy from the Cali trip and so much back and forth discussion about organization with Steve Goldberg, so thank you to Steve and Sam again, and also Lon and Bryan Fournier...and the others that showed up for freestyle reality. Its been a great week everyone. Thanks for reading. Now time for calc review... :?

Peace,
Bum

Damn... I really wish I could have stayed... I'm pissed that I had to go now...

That was the thing that I was missing... people... they help fuel my footbag addition... when the meetings got small, I started to lose my interest.

The positive energy I felt while I was there made me happier than I'd been in a while. Again, let me know if you want to have a session. I should finish my research paper now, so keep in touch.

Cheap printer ink

Post by FootbagginBum »

I posted this exact message in Kicking circle, but since I read blogs and not kicking circle, I thought I'd post it here too. It couldn't hurt.

Hey, you all have printers, and you all have to buy ink for them, and it usually costs way to much.

Well, here's a way to save a SHITLOAD when purchasing ink cartiridges. And you can find them for almost any printer too! Check it out!

http://www.source4ink.com/loren/

If you like what you see, or especially if you purchase and get a good deal, post so that others can see, and also so the topic doesn't fade away (the more people that can see it, the more they can save, and the more people at tournaments and supporting the footbag world by buying merchandise) Even if you just post thanks for the link, it'll save me from bumping it to the top for a couple weeks (if it fades after that, so be it.)

Peace guys, and thanks for helping a shredder out
Bum

Don't flood my blog though, I need it. (remember I posted that in kicking circle) But, if you actually make a purchase, you're welcome to say a few words if you want.

At long last, I finally hit Ducking and Diving torque today with Ben's assistance. New doors are now open to some of my favorite tricks.

We had a long session today with good runs but little schooling, but because we chose the casual outdoor atmosphere rather than the serious hiding in the gym and skooling and drilling environment, I got 4 new hackers contact information. One is another girl, and one was through email from old concert circles, and I believe that guy can already legover and atw from my teaching.

Footbag club is getting bigger and bigger, and University funding starting in fall is totally in the bag! Yay! It took me so long but I'll finally have a university club to make HUGE. Expect the official transition from Las Vegas Zombies to Rebel Footbag to occur in the next 6 months. I can't wait to see how many people are guiltless by the end of next summer before Ben and I go to worlds in Frankfurt. Theoretically there should be at least 10 of us at that point.

Thank you Ben for all your dedication and help with footbag. I will need increasingly more from you as the club grows, but it has been a pleasure to watch you work to get so good over the past 16 months. I hope this time of our lives lasts as long as it can :-)

Peace,
Bum

You are certaintly welcome. No thanks needed. You do most of the work, I just show up and give it my best (a.k.a. shred until I pass out, which is close to what happened today :D ).

Whenever you need me to do something just ask and I'll do my best.

Footbag is wicked awesome. 8) :) :D

bum i haven't read your blog but due to other posts , i think you are one of those people who are really deep into footbag and like a role model for the sport ( in moral things and your attitude in teaching people )

i like your idealistic views of footbag and hope that you will receive a lot in return for it .

yo loren, didn't read the last 5 posts or so, will in a sec... could you mail me a super shred MP3 cd? I'd love to have one of those so I could rock it for sessions. I definitely trust your judgement with tunes, and I LOVE playing to beats. I'll trade you one of my Matt Cross albums... only 30-40 minutes of music, but it's all original ;)

Since you don't have a challenge thread I will post it here:

I challenge you to blazing torque. Both sides of course.

I know you can do it.

Hey Bum, it's that new kid Steve (the one who contacted you for those of you who don't know me). I hit Butterfly B-SAUCE last thursday and am pretty pumped. I also brought my video camera for the most recent session. I watched the footage twice and it turned out pretty good. Although I am gonna give it to Ben to edit. But anyway, when can I come pick up that shipment of sandbags? I have a feeding frenzy on my hands at my school. Oh, and little Andrew will be jammin with us for the next meeting! So I'm friggin pumped, if there is anything I can do, don't hesitate to ask.

Peace dude

Were you the one with the red lavers my first week? Although there were two Steve's that week, I was the one who sucked. Although I did hit legover B-Sauce my first day (man I love the term B-Sauce).

Dude you rock man, thanks for making my day. I'm glad someone appreciates what I'm trying to help make happen and how good I want to be. I hope I end up doin something all official for footbag, like Steve or the touring guys for wfa, something awesome that enables me to play a lot and go to tourneys. Peace out to you, and I hope to play with you within the next three events, and if I hope, it will come true.

These quotes also rock:

Whenever you need me to do something just ask and I'll do my best.
Talk about having a footbag club thats under your wing and ready to fly off and make a name for themselves. You guys rock too. If I just had Evan totally with me we'd be the biggest club on the continent, please help someone.

Did I mention I hit toe fog first ever time first try into a run. Hells yeah! Next I'll nail Quantum eggbeater and then I'm totally up with the big boys.

Footbag Meeting was great, and the 24 hours around it were as good as LA. Those of you who were there, specifically, Sam, Luis, and Eric Reile, can barely imagine how good a time, but no one but them and maybe blackjack will come anywhere close to concieving what I'm about to describe. I spent 24 hours with the best girl in the world, Kalie (kay-lee) Acasia Sheed, who loves footbag with all shes got though she can still only kick it 4 times (but watch out, she'll be great) and wants to study philosophy and psychology, and sociology and calulus... oh man, and she hits the bong so good!.... I don't know what to do...she's bouncing to Reno in 3 months...I have to get this time with her, and she'll be smoking, and it'll be better together...oh I hate making stupid descisions because of girls, but I've never met anyone like this one...she's amazing. She's my best friend already too. We stayed up almost all night after watching "What the BLEEP do we know" (EVERYONE needs to see this) No one but me and Nick (my great homie, who you'd meet if you come here) will ever know how crazy that night was. Before I met this girl, I couldn't imagine having any kind of roommate at all. The day after I first hung out with her I thought it'd be great if she moved in that day (that's a ways off, but just as SOMEONE who I'd enjoy having living in the spare room). And now I feel like she's practically my other half. Anyway, footbag was great, we filmed good shred, and Andrew's cool ass bought pizza (these sick ass shredders, what a team we got now!) And Kalie and Angie got to meet and finally hit it off, in more than one way   hope I'll get to get in the middle there.

Here's a picture of the previous huge weekend, with Stallin Steve in the center, Kalie off signing in, Ben on the right behind me next to Noe in his hat and Evan whose off by himself. Mike with the newbs in the back.

Image

And yes Henry met you Steve, he was short and fast. You also met Steven, Henry, who doesn't hardly play, hopefully over summer though. Can't wait til Kaitlyn can show up too.

Peace for now guys, more later, sumemer session yoga in the morning.

lol, I think our club is the best too  but we haven't been to Finland or prague. In prague, I'm one of the sucky guys remember? The newbs... its hard to take.

Next Saturday will be shibby, as will the random sessions during the week, ya hooy!

Oh and Ben, wait til you see Kalie and Angie together...oh no :x I don't know what I did...they're all up on each others lack of nuts! She and I were all cute last week, I'm worried this week the girls will just make out the whole time... oi my head...I don't what to do :x :( :?:

Peace guys, wish me luck in the female endevours.
