Curse of the Carols

so, I've got a classic Carol from 2002 that I've owned for less than 24 hours, bought it brand new, the only thing I've done with it is light hand squishing for less than 10 total minutes.

and it now has a GAPING hole in it.

I could have sworn that because this one was from 3 years ago that it wouldn't do this.

but nooooooooooooooooooo.

The second brand new carol I've bought that's died IMMEDIATELY from hand squishing... there was a HUGE silver BB that came out first, and there was in the last bag as well. I think that the pressure from these huge BBs busts panels like nothing, although I could be wrong.

This is saddening, infuriating, frustrating, disappointing, embittering...

THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST DAMN FOOTBAGS IN THE WORLD!!!!

I didn't feel that great about spending all that extra cash on footbags this weekend BEFORE the choicest one ripped open from nothing.... FUCK.

FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK.

I've had enough of this.

Putting aside all the amazing things I think about Carol, I can't help but recommend that no one buy her bags [edit: until this situation is proven rectified] because this is too ridiculous. the bag is now totally brand new and totally useless. The only responsibility I take for this bag being ruined is being stupid enough to let it happen to me twice. I should have learned the first time (and from EVERYONE ELSE'S breaking, too).

Don't make the same mistake as me. Too bad I bought *2* carols yesterday... now I feel like I'm just waiting for the other one. Fuck this...

dude wtf you were prb just squishing it way too hard. you should use your finger tips and massage the bag dont squish it. dont put this topic up and make carol bags seem like shit to newer players.. it was definently your fault. get another new one if you want and break it in with your finger tips... damn man i culda used that carol

eh, I've never bought, used, or even seen a carol. But, I have heard alot, mainly when I first came to modified, about carol bags ripping easy or dieing fast. Don't jump on Matt because he posted his comments and experience with the carol bag. Chances are, he isn't the only one this has happened to.

and if a bag actually turns out to be "shit" as you put it, would you recommend it to new players?

i was going to delete tim's post because he's talking right out his ass and I found it insulting, but I think I'll just leave it there so everyone can read it and he can look like a dumbass. that seems like a better idea to me. or maybe he'll just wise up and delete it himself. let's find out

If Matt was a noob then I would say Tim's explanation might have a chance at being valid... but thats obviously not the case.

Tim, Matt is an experienced player who has been playing footbag for several years, and has broken in more bags than you have seen, most likely. Before you jump on anyone like that, you should be more suttle and suggest things, and don't make accusations about people you know nothing about.

As for your other Carol Matt, I would be willing to buy it from you for like 10 or 15 depending on how much you paid for it. That way we can test my theory, which I think is that you just plain have bad luck with Carol bags, and it gives me another bag since I only have one

. Either way I will most likely use this bag at some point, but we can talk about it later at the next session.

man, I'm tempted, but honestly, the material feels tougher than the other two, and I'm going to give it a chance <- direct contradiction of the post I made above

oh well. I think this one will do it. The busted ones both (BOTH, tim, not just one...) broke in exactly the same manner, and a big fat silver BB came out.

I'm going to offer to trade her 2 bunk carol bags for one good carol bag with no silver balls inside and see what she says. I think that's more than reasonable, they were both brand new.

I dont understand why the two carol bags with holes are "useless." I have bags with approx. 10-15 holes in them and they still shred fine, as long as the holes are patched up with stuff that is pliable. Why can't you just patch up the large holes and shred with them?

The only Carol bag I've played with was full of holes and it still played fine. It was patched up with this fabric tape stuff. I know it was pretty old too so it wasn't like it had just gotten the holes though. The only new Carol bag (or close) I've played with had no holes.

My last two Carol's blew apart right away.

I patched em up but that's totally not something you should have to do to a brand new bag.

ok im sorry.. its just i heard a ton of stuff about getting carol s and how there really good, so i didnt expect them to break right away and i didnt pay attention to who posted this if i knew it was matt( ive never met him but i just know from all his posts thats hes really really good) then i prob wouldnt have done this.. i thought i was some newb and besides this is the first time ive heard of such a thing happening with bags so i thought it was just some stupiud kid...

I got a carol like a year ago and after 3 days it started getting holes in it. Now all these stories tell you somthing about them

to mirken. it's not just a tiny little hole like you get in footbags from real use. it is a full on, pea sized, immediate blow out. with the last carol I had that blew out like that immediately, I did patch it up and keep using it, as carol suggested I should do as a solution to the problem... The whole bag over continued to get holes like the first big one at a speed that I'd never before experienced with a footbag. it was freakish. now this carol has that same sort of blowout, and similar feeling material.

so, I hope you see now.

To everyone who has had problems with Carol bags, have you all contacted her as soon as there was a problem with the bag? Because if not, it's not fair of you to complain about these bags publicly if you didn't even give her a chance to rectify the situation. If you told her and she didn't change the material she was using or refused to take the bag back or trade, that is a different matter.

Can anyone confirm that she even knows that there are problems with her bags? Because if "no" is the answer, someone who has purchased a bag should let her know about the numerous complaints.

i contacted carol. Tom contacted her when his busted. Jack contacted her at worlds when his busted immediately. I contacted carol again today. We'll see what happens.

She is aware that this is happening.

I wish I didn't feel this way. I hope you guys understand that the intensity of my first post is only rooted in the massive dissapointment of having that bag bust... anyone who was at my house on saturday saw me spend a good amount of time geeking out on the couch with my new footbag, just rubbing it on my face...

soooo dissapointed.

I remember Ales had a Carol bag when he came to Australia that got holes in it really fast. We thought maybe it was a combination of the bag getting wet (sweaty) and playing on cement, although other ultrasuede light bags haven't had this problem so I don't know.

However the Carol bag was fucking sweet as! I'd be happy to pay for a bag like that, even if it hardly lasted any time at all.

Actually I remember playing with another older Carol bag that lasted forever. We didn't like shredding with it because it was too big, but played lots of four square with it.

i feel so bad for you guys that sucks big. id probly go with bad luck i got a abshire and it broke first day

but i got a mini a lil while abo and it kicks so much ass. so luck i say. the only carol ive seen belonged to the man known as flash and his was older then g-d i believe and it looked sweet ass felt great , and everything else so maybe it just had a boo boo and tore. but i feel your pain. and hope all goes well.
