Who do you look for?

Post by Splint »

When you are floating around on modified are their specific people you look for or if you see they have posted you specifically read their posts?

I tend to do that with a few people.

Matt Cross

I tend to do that with people whose posts are rarer (is that a word), and usually more substantial. Or if it's just a pro that hardly posts, like
Honza
Felix
Pete
Others I can't think of off the top of my head.

Also, people who just generally make meaningful posts
The Brads (both of them ;)), as well as the WV Crew blog
Ken (a hilarious guy, and his blog entries are gold)
Emily (Moxie), a very insightful person
Dan Fearey, a cool guy, and I like reading his arguments on occasion.
Tom Mosher - mainly just his blog entries, because they are pretty fun to read.
Matt Cross (gets no explanation)
edit: And Chris Holden and Z, because I know them in real life and they hardly ever post.

I don't think I look out for people at all. There are definitly people who's posts usually impress me when I read them but mainly I read the topic and make a decision based on that - although I tend to read everything anyway :P

For example I stayed away from the "gloves" topic - although eventually had a brief look at it.

95% of what C-Fan writes is very funny, so I keep an eye out for those.
Jeremy, Matt Cross, Mosher and Chan are also favorite posters of mine.

I look at almost all topics and don't really look for certain people but the people that I'm usually drawn to, just to see what they post??? Not sure but I'll list as many as I can think of right now.

Tsiangkun
Moxie
Zeke
Jeremy
Mosher
Seath
Tuomoruutufan (I never want to type that again)
Lon
Brad K
Damon (come on, you know you loved him)
Junkyardjew
Dat (I will rememer him because the first day I found .org I thought he was the guy from last comic standing and I wrote him an e-mail asking him if he was. I felt like an ass when he told me he wasn't.)
Matt Cross
C-Fan
Senior Gromet

There are more but I just got up and I'm not thinking straight yet. Actually now that I think about it, if someone is a daily poster, I pretty much look for them. Newer members don't really catch my attention unless they post alot.

I always read posts by Mosher (insane poster, one of my closest footbag friends), Laroche (also super close, amazing musician, raw poster when he's pissed off), johnny (insane style and modesty about the craziest stuff), grek (insane new tricks), Jorden ( 8O ), the Executioner (my hero and friend), FlexThis (when life could use a little shake'n'bake), Splint (really real, all the time, good friend), shredette (I love to see what the top women are hitting), Moxie (in DEPTH, plus I'm finding out we can converse like people who are furious at each other, without getting worked up), ShredOnLawn (coolest outlook, straight up and real, amazing freestyle, inspirational).

I also like to look for arguments, controversy, differences of opinion, people being jerks, people being really nice, creativity, really out there opinions... I really love modified and the huge market of ideas we have here. those are just a few of my favorites.

ps: it makes me feel validated as a mod to see my name on peoples' lists here, thanks guys.

Me too! I feel so warm inside!

I used to look for specific posters more than I do now. HEY! Okay, is there some way to keep all unread threads marked unread until read? It is really frustrating that EVERY thread is marked as read after you've left for a while -- I never have time to read every post, and so I miss out on a lot.

It's hard to think of people off the top of my head, but some people who post less frequently stand out for me. I look forward to Dat Phan's posts, Johnny Suderman's, Byrin Wylie(?)'s; Vida, Ken Somolinos, Ryan Seath, and...umm......your name is completely slipping from my tongue :( "smallflightlessbird"...Junkyardjew.. Jared! Right? I forget names if they're not related related to usernames. Andrew, Josh, and Derek, who never post anymore -- and, yeah, anybody I actually know.

I find it really hard to sift through blogs, especially because all the threads mark themselves as read...there are certain ones I try to read though. Oh yeah, I forgot James Erickson -- I like his posts too. And anybody who says anything about me :p (like James Randall)

I don't look for certain people. I enjoy posts by some members more than
others, but I look for topics that I find interesting, and read every post in
it.

For me it entirely depends on the section. If I see that Jorden has posted in videos, I rush to that section. If I see Damon has posted in Kicking or Discussion, I check it out. If Hacksterbator posts in footblogs, i check it out. That sort of thing.
