I can tell you for sure that compared to the guys in CIC, everyone else will fall short. But the WV crew is pretty okay. :) (that should have been read, "But the WV crew is pretty, okay?") And they're pretty friendly, too. You don't really know me but take it from me, I've been talking to John and Brad and this jam is going to be awesome. You should go for sure. I was thinking about going too, but I don't think I'll be able to because of work, etc. But who knows.

And don't worry about it being a "professional event." There won't be a competition, just a bunch of really cool (very good) shredders getting together to hang out.

The ONLY way I can see that happening at a footbag event is if you show up and be a prick  . From what little I know about you, it's probably not something you have to worry about.

LOL! Our poor, poor little Emily... it seems that all that California sun has finally gotten to her. While I can definately say that Chicago has... uh... quite the... uuuhm... colorful cast of characters, I can only assume that you will find totally cool footbaggers, more often than not, wherever you go. But that's just my opinion :D

Overheard @ Lane today, "I'll eat your fetus!"

Speaking of which, I think I played about three and a half hours of 4 square today. That might be about the average. On Monday, though, I put up 2 sandbags as prizes but they had to play with one of my rules and could not add or take away rules. The first bag was a facile version of the Mr. Sandman that I had used for a couple sessions. The rule was Five In a Row. The first player to score 5 points in a row, using only normal rules wins. Scores are dropped to zero if they are knocked out of the king square. Immediately about 10 kids lined up to play. This kid named Alex won sooner than I thought. All the other players forgot to focus on the king and he scored 4 points fairly easily. Of course the others gave him a hard time when he had game point. It's always funny to see how the player with game point is ruthlessly targeted for the mobs bullshit. Basically he has to play the perfect game and leave nothing to chance. He'll almost always get outvoted and theres no way the other players will allow a hack-off. Well, despite all this, Alex still manages to score one more point and won the bag.

The second game was for a brand new Revolution Sandblade. Spin Rule! :D Players have to spin a full rotation equal to their square #. Play only to 10 points and player with game point spins double the square #. These kids play 6 square. Six. That means thay they would have spun at least 15 times just to get to King, then another six more before the serve. As you can imagine the players in the higher numbered squares are at a huge disadvantage as the game goes on. Particularly the king if he manages to score several points in a row. This was easily the most fun i've ever had just watching a game. They were off balance, staggering around and missing easy passes which they normaly wouldn't. Just watching them stand there trying to stay focused with lost looks on their faces was great. This was a long game as very few people were able to stay in the 6th square to score many points. Eventualy Martin scores the 10th point, having spun at least 216 times to win :!: , that boy got skillz.

Going back to today, we tried a few new rules:
-Same Side: You must receive the pass with the same side the passing player kicked with. So if I pass using my left leg you must recieve using your left leg. Upper body contacts are neutral and you are out only if you kick with the wrong leg. It's harder for players who aren't comfortable kicking with their left leg. Tom was really good at kicking with one foot then kicking again with the other foot changing the direction of the bag. Brilliant.
-Ong Bak: Must pass using your knee.
-Kings Royalties: After getting a full hack you are awarded a point for eliminating someone from their square.

We also played with Tom's rule, Five In a Row today and Same Side. Tom's rule is after x amount of legal contacts you are allowed to catch with your hand and serve it to another player. Trippy serves are automatically on when this rule is voted in. Usually we play 4 or five contacts but we tried only 2 and the game was frantically fun. It really picks up the pace and keeps you on your toes. Then we played several games of 5 In a Row. I think this can really help players understand that everyone should try and get the server out. Even if it means helping other squares out.

I love 4 square. Thanks Lon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A round of applause for zeke for organizing a great club and a great bday party.

I was shocked to see so much footbag goin on. so much 4 square and so much freestyle all at the same time.

I basically shred the whole entire time. I just love seeing all the different players that showed up and there different styles. the more people i shred with the more im inspired to hit new tricks and i did hit 2 tricks more than once that i never have hit before. Infinity and paradox mirage. i also came pretty close to hitting those flipside but no cigar.

You guys were not joking about james he was really fucking good. he made everything look so easy.

then the after party at tims place was a fun way to end the day.

My fucking legs are tired.

Thanks, but I can't take all the credit myself. Kamil and Tom helped a lot with the planning and the promoting. I was really pleased with the turnout and I really wish our sunday sessions were like that on a regular basis. If you think about it, that goal is not unreasonable.

Thanks to everyone that came, I know the weather wasn't ideal but I really appreciate that you all came and played through it.

Hey guys,

I was going to call and say happy birthday, but I forgot. :( Sorry about that. So, Happy Birthday and it was fun to read that it was such good jam. Pictures? Videos? Don't disappoint. :D

So your next big event is at the Taste? I wish I were coming back to visit this summer, but the next time I'll be back will be around Christmas, if everything works out.

miss ya,

Happy birthday CIC!
I wish I could have made it down, but I was stuck in Iowa city that weekend. CIC new years jam was my first tournament, and you guys got me and Juan, and Cole and othe people that don't play anymoe into footbag. Thank you :) You guys host so many jams, and we've only hosted one. We're lazy bastards over here. THen again CHicago is alot bigge and cooler than Minneapolis. Maybe when Juanito gets back we'll host something. Blah
and have Mike hansen and bijan come
Mikes in Minnesota right now, we kicked last night, and will again tommorrow. He said he'll be in Iowa all summer and that he'd be down to head to chicago some time. The Taste would be sweet, and probably salty, and barbequesauce flavored, if I remember correctly. Blues fest sounds liike fun too.

Juan will be back in very early June(3rd?), and there will be much footbag played here, and all will be well, and he would probably be down fo comin to Chitown.

Happy belated Birthday to everyone in the CIC, thank you for hosting so many great events, and for being a cool ass group of people 8)
Peace

Zeke and I were just talking about when we first met Bijan, Juan, Cole, and Javi - Cloud 9 guys - at the New Years Jam. It's a great moment in history. I can't wait to play with ya'll this summer again.

As for today's jam:
Zeke, Jon, and I went to the South Side :!: today and met up with Shawn by a skate park. Damn little kids having cool ass toys that we never had growing up :( . Anywhoo...It was fun kickin..I was playing pretty well, and Jon pulled out some good strings.

Zeke and I were talking about Shawn afterwards, and how good this mofo has gotten. Sometimes I'm like, "That 2 dex combo to that ducking move was cool," but then I realize that he's only been playing like for several weeks. It is an awesome thing. I hope he keeps playing forever.

After the Jam we went to Shawn's and he made us kick ass burgers on a Foreman grill while we watched Aqua teen hunger Force.

i always apreciate when my hard work gets noticed but i was getting frustrated today. I really wanted to show how much i have been drilling consistent runs and i did the complete opposite. i spent more time picking up the footbag than kicking it  , Its alot different to kick with people its like seeing you guys do everything makes me try harder than i should and i end up off my game. I think i play solo so much that its like more comfortable or something. Next time i shred with you guys i hope i can try to keep a cooler relaxed attitude like the way i shred solo. Either way its so much fun kicking with you guys.

South side jam is coming up im gonna start going to other skate parks to promote the jam, the sport, and to sell the bags that zeke fronted me.

Good sesh tonight. Kamil, Damien and I played at Portage Park tennis courts. Some guy was dressed in a gorilla suit too. he was with this girl who was pretty, but she had 2 asses worth of ass...it was so disproportionate. But like 2 sets of legs worth of legs too...Okay she was a chubby girl with a normal girl's face and breasts...somewhat centaurish....but cute.

Anywhoo: I hit a freakin good pixie atomic set a few times for the first time. I also hit atomic xbd rake. Kamil got some good stepping sets in tonight. Damien was practicing the darkside which is fairy-ish moves.
