i think he may be referring to the hopping set pansy mcpansierson  :D

the name for sailing butterfly is Desien. Is this a european name? I'm not even quite sure how to say it correctly. I really don't like it and right now makes no sense to me. I think it should be called somethign like

sailwalk
sailbeater
sailfly

I think it's a term from the movie "eXisten Z" direced by David Cronenberg - awesome sci fi movie. I think dominatrix and desien are both references to that movie - although I can't confirm this.

I think you may be wrong Jeremy. I first say daisin or how ever it is spelt hit by Dave Holton on video on one of those really old Worlds clips hosted on dallasfootbag. This was before Existenz came out I think.

eXisten Z was '99 - I don't know when sailing butterfly was invented.

Dasein was named by Frank Gutowski. He`s generally credited as being the first to have hit it. He hit it before Western Regionals 99, so that means sometime before May 99.

Desien, Daisin or Dasein?

If it's Dasein, then it is probably derived from german - "Da sein" means basically
"being there", or in a wider sense, existence :)

yeah I think it's Da sein - which is definitly a term used in the movie. eXisten Z is a movie all about philosophy set in sci fi world. It's hard to explain - watch it! It's kind of like the Matrix but way cooler and doesn't have any horrible sequels.

Wow thats a cool meaning, I guess it kinda relates to a butterfly sailing through the air, knowing little more than the fact that it exists?

Matt I like your post, how true. We must come together peacefully and not jump to such erratic conclusions...or something of the sort. Smiley faces must be used with caution. I'm quick to retaliate when it comes to the hopping set because of the amount of resistance I've experienced with it and people accepting what it is.
Ya Jeremy we all know Rippin' invented the stepping set, what I'VE gone and done is invent reverse stepping. Jorden does the set perfectly in one of his vids...hopdown I believe.

I don't like butterfly. It seems kinda cheesy. I think corpse grinder is a far neater sounding name for the move. I do find myself saying butter more often than corpse grinder, though.

I hate corpse grinder with a passion. It's not cool at all, it feels like a pathetic attempt to be cool. Butterfly isn't lame, and it's a staple in the game. I'll be damned if I'm going to start calling them "grinders". While you're at it why not change "pixie" and "fairy" too, if you're looking for lame. But you know what? they don't bother me either, and I wouldn't call them something else if someone came up with a "corpse grinder"ish name for them.

We don't need to try to be "cool", we know we're cool, we're footbaggers for crying out loud! ;)

Quiet, sausage boy! :P Pixie isn't lame and neither is Fairy. Butterfly just isn't as cool as it could be. Infinity is better. Corpse grinder is the best. This is all about opinion, though, so I could care less what you call it.

There are lots of names that I hate in footbag.
Off the top of my head Shmoe. Cool move, crap name.
I also think fairy ducking set should have a name that isn't the most offencive word in the english language.

No, there are at least a few words that are considered to be much more offensive.

i dont think corpse grinder was created because the person wanted to be cool, i think its rather a joke that toe delay would get a name.

toe delay? Isn't it supposed to replace butterfly? I don't think pixie and fairy are lame either, I have absolutely no problem with them. I can see how some people would think they are though. Personally I find "corpse-grinder" to be very try-hardish, but as you say, it's just opinion.

p.s. sausage boy? :? :P

Twinspinning: Nuclear Inspinning

I don't like this. Twinspinning sounds more like it belongs with "double inspinning".

As far as I'm concerned, a move name is a move name. Whoever doesn't feel like calling a move name by their name can call them by their more complex ways, such as whirligig = stepping ps whirl. We just say whirligig since everyone knows what it is and its easier to say.

I dislike move names that are longer than their technical names. Like, what's the point? :?

Alex Zerbe is the Greatest = symple vortex
Conniption City = bs blur
Sweety Sweetback's Badass Song = sailing same mofly
