Post by CIC flurry »

There are many internet guides on this. i was wondering if anyone on modified make rolls at home, and how, and what good guides they use.

I've done it a few times but just made it up - use a really sharp, moistened knife to cut the rolls.

Some five odd billion people that have eaten raw fish for some odd thousands of year can be wrong. Sushi is great. There's this fishing store in Havelock (Lew's Rod and Reel) that serves damn good sushi. Thought I'd mention Lew's just in case any sushi lovin kickers ever come to Havelock (yeah, like that's ever gonna happen).

yes but the millions of people that do eat sushi regulary (mostly in japan) have much, much higher rates of stomach cancer than the rest of the world. Raw fish contains bacteria that irritates the stomach, and constant irritation causes cancer. Why not throw it on the grill for a little while?
but if you only eat sushi once in a while you dont have to worry about it.

i dunno if imitation crab which is used in cali rolls qualifies 100% as raw fish, so maybe a different thread..but I could be wrong.

DO IT!

can you reference that? I'd like to see a study linking sushi eating to stomach cancer and not just that Japanese people have higher rates of stomach cancer. Otherwise it's fair to say you're making it up and don't actually know what you're talking about.

it was in one of my textbooks for a college science health lab, the section in the textbook stated that people in Japan have much higher (i dont remember the exact numbers) rates of stomach cancer than americans due to a diet of raw fish. it also said that much more people smoke in japan than they do in the US, but Japan has much lower rates of lung cancer due to the fact that they start smoking at a later age when their lungs have fully developed.
I sold back the textbook so i dont know where they got thier sources. but you cant deny this- any raw meet is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, and constant irritation will cause cancer.
buuuut as long as you eat it in moderation im sure you have nothing to worry about.
- there was also some information about people in france have lower rates of heart disease than the average even though their diet contains high fat content, (everything has butter on it in france) they think its cause they drink lots of red wine.
