scene kids are fuckwits though

they need more spin kicks to the head

(maybe less actually)

hahah it's funny how dudes are like "urr fuck this band, they're metal"... but you like "metalcore"

so it's cool to like certain bands becasue they're a certain genre

I'm rambling

I was actually suprised that no one has made a comment saying urr this isn't hardcore that is blah blah til now

but remember what hardcore is all about

the way i look at it is i dont love or hate a band because of what scene/genre there in. Its good to use these labels to help describe what kind of music they are.

In the end you can generalize all these bands as either hardcore or metal but when your talking to a fan of this music it helps to describe a band with labels like. grindcore emocore metalcore hardcore metal death metal exct exct.

But yes people who live and die by a scene particulary the straight edge hardcore maniacs out there could use a spin kick to the head but i think they would like it

Hahaha, oh man... I used to try and do the whole classification of subgenres in metal/hardcore, but then I decided that scenesters are SO LAME. They, for the most part, wear girls pants, have ridiculuous dark black combovers, or lame ass long metal hair. Furthermore, they all listen to underground music and fight over which style is cooler. What's up with 'metal' cats fucking with 'emo' cats all the time? Where is the LOVE?? All these bands only want to get their music out there, they don't care who you are (stylewise), they only want people to listen to them. Hence all the free downloading and promotions.

While music scenes have some cool people, I find that in general the kids are pretentious and judgemental. I like to go to shows, meet people, and have fun. That's all but impossible to do in the Ottawa music scene, the kids are all such dumb snobs. I can say the same thing about Montreal and Toronto music scenes as well. I dont know about the European/Aussie music scenes, but hopefully the people are more welcoming and friendly instead of being jerkoffs. I know that in the USA things are pretty intense, I heard of this one crew: Fuck Shit Up, who basically go to shows and start fighting people who aren't a part of their crew. How lame is that?

Now when I go to shows I go with friends of mine while under the influence of alcohol and/or pot to maximize the effects of trippy light shows. I also dont worry about trying to meet people...

It's all the same, hip hop and rap have minute differences, rock and indie rock are pretty much the same, metal and hardcore are also so close to the same thing.

It's all just punk rock.

the morals of this story are 'check out BURIED INSIDE' http://www.purevolume.com/buriedinside http://shop.relapse.com/artist/artist.a ... stID=10133: Ottawa's most bad ass metal/hard/emo/pop/hiphop band. Actually I dont even know what style they are, they can only be desribed as HEAVY and AWESOME! AND also, listen to the songs 'the saddest day' by converge (SO INSANE), and 'cutsman' by HORSE the band (the song is about the megaman boss who sports scissors on his head!!!!) AND lastly, if THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN is playing in a town near you, go see them, they will blow you away!!

If I ever start a underground heavy like band I am going to call ourselves 'Slit my wrists with stars'. I am sure that scene kids would eat that up hahahaha.

they would LOVE it

make sure you wear girls jeans :P

the aussie scene is reasonably welcoming, hardcore maybe not so much so, I go to a lot of different types of shows

DEP played in Canberra... but I couldn't afford to go...ah well
fuck as a matter of fact they played here twice.... in the space of a year... bands from Sydney and Melbourne don't even do that

Scensters are tools, but they can be fun sometimes. Watch out for the Detroit scene... they're the worst, almost guaranteed, as far as snobbishness goes.

As for Hardcore bands tho.. I like Everytime I Die. And I'm not sure where exactly the Blood Brothers would fit (hardcore, posthardcore?) but they're pretty good too..

EDIT: nm about Blood Brothers.. def posthardcore (what was I thinking?)

Ack! How could I miss a topic like this!? I just want to go off ranting and raving about a really long list of bands, but this topic is soo old! Argh. I'm reviving it anyways.
