footbag-vienna's footblog

Post by verena »

okay...so here you go: footbag-vienna has its own footblog too!
for some footbag-vienna (alex, ali and me) footage you should check this link (http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0QFH ... K6OH0F4S1W) out (this was already posted in the video section thiugh).

yeah, i just got back from footjam and it really rocked!! you can't imagine how well organized everything was!! like switzerland is so very expensive, but the registration fee was so cheap! including food and lodging for three days!! 8O

we (alex, roman and i) arrived in switzerland at 6 o'clock in the morning. taking the train was by far the cheapest way to get there, though it was not a really comfortable way. i got like two hours of sleep, which was definately not enough.
right at the train station, as we had arranged it, we met hania. it was so cool that she made it. i mean she was coming all by herself by bus and it took her like 14 hours to get to zürich.
yahoo, finally i got a chance to meet her again!! we hadn't seen eachother in ages!! :D :D
so, for this weekend hania became austrian and represented our country well.

yepp, then after an awesome breakfast and some coffee, the competition started. the very first competitor was roman. roman is from linz and it was his first big competition. he's only been playing for a year and he's doing really well!!
then sometime later our routines started. i think that the level was very high. i was really worried about my routine, because i was so tired. the qualification worked well though...i had three drops and placed first. i was very impressed by tina, because she didn't only shred hard, but she had a very nice and solid routine.
felix' first round routine was so good. awesome spinning stuff and ripstein, whirr and symp. whirling swirl all included.
the women finals were around 11 o'clock. at this point i was even more tired. i was very disappointed, because my routine was so bad. i had quite a lot of drops and couldn't hit anything. i was actually very, very surprised that i got second. i think it was mainly, because everybody but tina (blurry whirl as last trick!!) had a bad routine.
again i was really impressed that tina was doing so well in routines. i think she will be worldchampion soon.
later that night, i had lots of fun talking to the munich crew, ian from australia, arthur from france,...
again, i got only three or four hours of sleep, because we had to leave the rote fabrik at 8 o'clock in the morning, and change the event place. after taking a nap and getting sunburned, i felt a lot better and wanted to shred. the first circle i played in, was made up of lise, nikolai and myself. it was so much fun.
later i got a chance to play with carol, bea, max and others. i didn't play very well all day. my legs very pretty tired. i finally hit mobius in front of lise though, set a new personal whirl record of 33 and wasn't too far away from hitting flip ripstein.
in total i played like four hours that day without taking a break.
the party in the evening was a lot of fun too. i was very tired though, and didn't stay up too late. i woke up with a real sore throat though, which really sucked.
i tried to play on monday as well, but really couldn't hit anything. mentally i was so motivated, but my legs weren't.

.
.
yeppp. footjam was so awesome!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
i'm really sorry for everyone who didn't make it to footjam!

edit: almost forgot to mention that, but i got two new sweet bags. both are hania bags, one is broken in, the other one is brand new. the broken in one, is the best one i ever played with!! it's so awesome!!

Verena I'm so glad you made a blog! That's cool. I remember talking to you a few months ago, that was fun. I'm glad to see so much excitement from you and your scene, I know it will continue to grow and that's always good! Sounds like Footjam was very impressive, you will have to continue to update your blog and let us all know what you are up to!

Oh yeah!!!
Finally a fbv blog! After me saying starting a footblog since two month, Verena finally did it. Thanks a lot!

So... Footjam was so awesome. I wont write too much of it here, because I agree with with evereything that has been said before and maybe will be said. It was soooo huge.
Well, everything except my routine. I had like hundred drops and sucked really bad, but 1-2 hours of sleep in a train before a big tourney isn't the best way to prepare :)
Hania gave you the bag!!! She's soo nice! :) I too got a bag from her, can't wait to break it in!

Ok, that was my first blog entry, some more will follow!

Hi Jochen, of course I will keep you updated of my stitching progress. I want to finish two more tryout bags before I will use the facile you gave me. Thanks again!!!

I just came home from the training session. Just Philip and me. Nothing special for me, shooled a bit flip pdx whirls (since my left knee isn't making problems anymore) and some other stuff.
The best things I can remember was
- pdx mirage -> atomsmasher bsos
- fairy ss drifter

Philip is getting better and better. He really surprised me today. He hit
~15 consecutive legovers
some butterflys bs
and his first 2 datw 8O
He's really motivated and talented!

Verena, I hope you get well soon!

He told me today that he checked out the video section, so I think it shouldn't be too hard to do that :)

Oh Yeah!!
Had a nice solo-session today in a park! Summer is coming and it's time to represent in the 10th district.

new whirl record :)
right side: 21
left side: 16

After my legs felt tired I messed a bit around with 2 bags:
5 ss clipper
ripwalk, both sides of course!

It's really cool to hear some nice comments of bypassers, like "oida, der is oarg"
A 60 year old soccer trainer was cool. He really appriciated the time and work an effort going into this to do this stuff.

also did some freestyle disc stuff, I'll show yuo next time Verena

yeah, i just got my bus ticket to berlin (gfo)!! :D :D
a non-footbagging-friend of mine will come with me, so i don't have to go all by myself. ali and schubi are coming as well, but they've got plane tickets...
.
.
yepp. the last week i've been playing a lot. i didn't hit anything new though. my strings were pretty long and my legs felt good. my stepping and barraging set is getting better though. i've hit janiwalker a while ago, but stopped practising it...
hmmm. today i took a break. yesterday i played with denise for like 45 minutes and almost died. it was so hot!!!

tomorrow i've gotta get up at 7 o'clock, because of a footbag-show...
on friday we had our footbag show on tv. they cut us short which sucked (the only thing you could see of me was a toe stall..), but nevertheless it was a success.
other than that, i've gotta study a lot. but only two more weeks and i've got holidays... :).
