I played with Damon Mathews last night at his place again. His wife joined us and showed me that she could do alot of consecutive toe stalls. She also was able to pull off a few other tricks including clipper, inside stall, and legover.

Damon is getting better every time I play with him. He's getting the game back that he used to have but in my opinion needs a little more determination. He blames it on age and extra weight alot but I do my best to motivate him into continue kicking with me even after we busted for hours.

I moved out of the house during the ladder part of the session yesterday because the cool air and natural light was just much better for my game. One of my first strings was atleast twenty contacts and included reverse swirl > far wauxpin midrun and cross body toe stall BSOS. After roughly a half hour of kicking however, I got it into my head that I needed.... absolutely needed to hit barfly both sides.

Wrong move for me.

My strong side double over downs have always been better for me due to me being a right sided player. Thus, I managed to hit barfly fairly easily on that side with a little advice from Damon. My flipside was mad trouble though.

I must have been out there for atleast an hour, and after four... maybe five hundred attempts at flip barfly I was getting very very very frustrated. I tried it off of every set I could think of. Osis, Ripwalk, Infinity, ect. I just couldn't hit it. I kept going back to my strong side to learn what the difference was in the two.. seeing as how I hit it strong side maybe fifteen times by that time for instructional purposes. Finally... at about nine o'clock that night and everything seeminging like it was going wrong I busted it. Nice and clean right up to my hand. It was the most difficult move I have ever hit... flip barfly... what the fuck.

This is definately something that needs practice and I will being bringing my game toward that direction more in the forthcomming weeks. I am so god damn happy I hit it though :P

I just read your entire blog, page 1 to 6, all on a whim because i recognized your name from your "guess who's back" video. first and foremost, welcome back (though its been a month or two) second, sick shred! and third, i hope i get the opportunity to play in a circle with you and shoot the shit, id really like to hear more about your experiences over seas, and just what it was like to try and keep up with your game in that situation.

i may have to join the israeli army within the next 5 or 10 years or so because im moving over there towards the end of the summer and its required for citizens. i certainly wont stop playing either.

If my duty hours are not all night long, in which I have no sleep, I'll definately be down to kick tomarrow. I'm just wondering if you'll be a little further north from San Diego more near me. PM me with details.

Yay.

Jeremy and I hooked up yesterday afternoon right after I got off work for a sick two-man session. I had only played with him shortly before at Sam's Fresstyle Reality 2 round-up. I'm glad I could finally actually see him play and watch all the crazyness that is Jeremy Mirken.

We met up at about two thirty in the afternoon on the beach at Oceanside, CA. We played at a great location that I requested because it is a cement out-door stage built to hold an audiance of roughly two-thousand. We warmed up quickly, talked for a moment, and began shredding shortly after... It was awesome.

Jeremy and I have such different approaches to freestyle in our style. He is very relaxed and floaty looking when he plays, I am more aggressive and attack the bag. But surprisingly, we could hit alot of the same moves and combos and requested alot from eachother. Jeremy hit alot more of my requests then I hit of his. He wanted me to try crazy shit like furious set, bubba, and grifters. While I just requested alot of shit I knew he could do but was still huge and that would be even better in person.

Believe it or not but we played for about five hours and I even got Damon out of his house and he joined us a couple hours before we finished to end with a nice relaxed three-man. I really didn't want to leave because I am always wanting to shred longer then anyone around me... it's always been that way though so I have began to get used to it and accepting when a session is at it's end.

I really think yesterday was good for me. It opened up alot of new drills to try and moves to work on for the future. Also, it patched a few things I had been wanting to hit and combo, while Jeremy instructed me on what I could improve upon. He is a great teacher to have by your side and anyone should realize this because he has had to teach himself footbag for four years roughly by himself. He knows what he's talking about.

Okay, anyway, highlights from yesterday:

New Moves:

Zooming set Mobius
Ripwauxpin
Ducking Cross Body Toe Stall
Flip Fog (Second Time!)
Nuclear Inspinning Mirage off of foot
Slicing Same Side Mirage
Spinning Wauxpin BS

New Combos/Runs:

Blurry Whirl > Reverse Swirl > Blurry Whirl
(I am going to hit this again but end the combo with another reverse swirl)
Blurry Whirl > Paradox Whirl > Paradox Whirl > Blurry DROP
Ripwalk > Blur > Dimwalk > Blur > Atom Smasher > Terrage > Legbeater > Run
Spinning Butterfly X4 > Spinning Osis > Run
Ducking Clipper > Ducking Clipper > Spinning Clipper > Spinning Butterfly > Spinning Osis > Inspinning Clipper > Spinning Clipper AGAIN
22 Lon Kicks

Oh yeah, the best was when Jeremy hit spinning blender then kicked it to me and I hit it while saying "Now Me" first try and passed it back! That was best.

Well that session was nuts and I tried some even nuttier moves so I'm hurting and I really need to stretch. Will post later, I really need to make new videos!!!![/b]

Aaron,

I just wanted to say thanks for the shred, and Damon too. I had an awesome time and I cant believe that we played for so long. All in all, I am just really pleased that we were able to set up that little jam because it was cool to get to know you a bit better, and the shred was awesome.

Yeah!

I'll be home the 28th because I am flying home for Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully everything will go as planned and I'll get back from the weekend on time for my return date. If worse comes to worst..... I won't be going home. So I am not even going to think about that O_O.

This previous weekend sucked so hopefully next will make up for that poor Saturday where I hit nothing except my new ducking clipper record of 15. Okay, well I'm out, peace.

Yay. Home was good.

I'm at the airport now and I had a great weekend back home seeing my girlfriend, friends, and family. I shredded it up with the Eugene crew also and they put a video out the next day woot. I need to comment on it, it turned out pretty sick. If you haven't seen it yet and you are reading this go to the video section and download that shit, it's titled "The Dog", you will see why.

As far as footbag goes Nate and James were a blast to play with. They really haven't changed at all, and I don't meen skill level. James is throwing in alot more controlled spins and gyro moves. He sealed gyro dlo in front of me a couple times and can do both inspins and spinning ducking now. Nate is still nasty as ever but he really got nasty when I told him to push. I know Nate can bust hard without just throwing a long guiltless run full of threes and a few fours. When he steps it up to fearless combos is when I think he truly shines. It was great to see them again.

Anyway we played at a buddy's house of mine who invited me over to a BBQ. He was all for me showing up with buddies so I decided to save time that day and just combine shred and BBQ, it turned out well. Good food, good music, great spot, good weather.

I didn't really hit anything new... I just showed them what I could do now and what I've been working on. I sealed blurry whirl > blurry whirl to start a run, blurry whirl bsos, pheonix > matador, and I went for my three five combo of pheonix > blurry whirl > spinning whirl with no luck. I also was having alot of trouble with double whirls that day. Damn, I really wanted to show them some of those, oh well.

Until next time watch the video and comment!

Thanks for the comments Henry, I'm glad you liked it, they did a good job!

Updates from today, I learned how to step out of my flip whirl!:

Paradox Whirl > Ripwalk > Ripwalk > Paradox Whirl > Ripwalk > Ripwalk > Paradox Whirl > Ripwalk
Blurry Whirl > Ripwalk > Ripwalk > Blurry Whirl > Run
Ripwalk X 8 > Blur > Pheonix > Run
Ripwalk > Symposium Whirl BSOS
Osis > Spinning Clipper > Flip Spinning Whirl to end a run
Ripwalk > Whirr again
Paradox Whirl > Whirl X4 > Paradox Whirl > Whirl X4 > Paradox Whirl
Flip Blurry Whirl > Blurry Whirl

It was a whirl drill day obviously. I really wanted to hit two more drills but they eluded me again damnit:

Blurry Whirl > Paradox Whirl > Paradox Whirl > Blurry Whirl
Blur > Legbeater > Blurry Whirl > Repeat

I'll try again when I'm feeling like today. Jay and Rich gave me alot of props on the shit I hit so it felt good and the weather wasn't scorching so I could push without burning up. If only I could bust like Jay, then I could have done everything I hit today in one run. That man is so good...

Hey. I watched the vid, but I forgot to comment it.
All of you were shreding well.
You mix shuffle with some spinning/ducking moves really well. Annd you're a Whirly and Stepping guy. It seems that youre stepping set is really good. And you can do it when you only want. Same with your whirls. And you do soe nice and clean dexes.

:D

I have two new videos that will be comming out very soon. They are not the "Movie Quality" that I wanted because that would take months and months and I just don't have that much time. Thus I am releasing a clipped version that is pure raw footage of some stuff hit at Sam's FR2 Get-To-Gether. And I will be releasing a sick ass Jason Crook/Chad D special that is 90% done. So little time, so much to do!

Results from recent kicks:

Ripwalk > Spinning Ducking Clipper BSOS
Paradox Whirl > Sidewalk > Repeat
Gyro Butterfly > Spinning Butterfly > Repeat
Gyro Butterfly > Torque BS
Gyro Clip > Spinning Clip > Repeat > Gyro Clip > Spinning Clip X2 > Repeat > Gyro Clip > Spinning Clip X3 > Repeat! (18 Contacts)
Inches from Nuclear Inspinning Osis

I am at a grocery store right now on my computer because I am getting my car worked on. New Tires yay, I almost burned right through my last ones...

Stay tuned.

The new videos are now posted! Check the video forum to get the link to my video Numb. The following is the link required to get to the clipped FR2 shred:

http://www.blurryworld.com/video/FR2.avi

This video was only clipped so don't spaz out on me if its not what you wanted. I'm posting it mostly for those who attended FR2 like Lon and Sam who really wanted to see some things hit. Especially the insane super long ducking run that just may be the world record. Comments are welcome, and please enjoy them both!
