Star Wars Episode III Thread
Come on guys, it's about to come out... how can we not have a thread 7 pages long about this already?
Anyways I'm psyched. Tonight my friends and I went looking for a copy of Episode II to rent. We went to 1 Hollywood Vdeo, 4 Blockbusters, 1 Harris Teeter, and 1 Premieres and we finally found it at Premieres. Then we watched it and now I'm excited and I want to see it! Who's ready for Episode III? I found a cool review earlier of the movie, so maybe if I find it again I'll post that. Sounds like it's going to be pretty good.

For some reason, it`s not getting released in Japan for another 2 months or so. I have no idea why this is the case.
I recently rewatched Episodes 1 and 2 again. They were pretty shitty, so I`m not THAT excited for this movie. But the reviews have been very good, so I`ll probably check it out when it comes out. I just can`t get that excited about a movie where George Lucas writes the dialogue (seriously, the dialogue was just embarassingly bad the last two movies) and Hayden Christiansen is asked to act (throwing a hissy fit does not equal acting).

I really liked this review from Slant Magazine: Here is the part that made me think "wow this movie is going to rock"
(this post was made in honour of David "Cleaver" Clavens)
It's a movie the fans want to see and it bags out Bush? What could be betterI imagine that Revenge of the Sith is very much the film Lucas's fans want to see, but are some of them ready for an anti-Bush diatribe?
Yeah -- 1 and 2 (especially 2! -- it OPENED with terrible acting) were bad, but I was really surprised when I saw the trailer for 3 -- it actually looks good! Has everybody watched the 25-episode "Star Wars: Clone Wars"?? It's freakin' amazing!! The two-episode Mace-Windu-against-an-entire-army-of-drones battle was SOOOOO epic!! (episodes 12+13 I think). I don't think it aired here in Canada, but I think you can watch it on some website...Cartoon Network or something??...
I recently watched most of 2, also...it was better than the first time, but only because I'd watched Clone Wars since! #1 wasn't that bad, from memory. Meesa liked it.
I'm probably not going to see this one in theatres, but mostly because I don't go to movies and haven't been to in on theatres for almost a year. I'm more excited to see Kingdom of Heaven.

luckily lucas got some extra help on the dialogue for this one, so it might not bite total ass. in fact, the guy he got to help him was the guy who wrote rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead, an incredible play - so this movie might be halfway okay. unlike the first two which made me want to shit myself just so i'd have an excuse to leave the theatre...

My job is paying for most of its employees to go see the movie tomorrow morning at 9 am. My buddy who drives me to work everyday is going with his building at 5:30 am
. That mean we need to leave at around 3:45 am to get to work on time for him to catch the bus from his building to the theater. Damn you george lucas!

Damn! i just missed the 12:01 tickets! they sold out yesterday when i called they said they just sold out. on fandago.com too. i'm pretty pissed, oh well i guess ill get tickets for the afternoon one. The last episode i went at 12:01 and i had a sweet time. cause all the biggest fans were there, all dressed up as storm troopers and jedi's. you could take photo's with people and stuff. and the people were screaming and going nuts during the moive i had a blast.

Well I've seen it
I won't give anything away. I think it's definitly better then episode 1 and 2. The dialogue is still shit and the cinematography could do with a lot of work. Probably if I wasn't a star wars fan I'd think it was a pretty shitty movie. But since I am a fan I thought it was cool. Apart from the fucking slapstick humour at the start, it's entertaining and there's some cool moments. Also it has my favourite actor in it so I liked it just for that.
I think as a movie I'd probabaly give it about 2.5 out of 5 but if you're a star wars geek I'd say go watch it for sure - you'll definitly enjoy it more than the last ones. Way more connections with the original movies too - maybe it even felt more like the originals then ep 1 and 2.
So basically it's an average movie - but nothing really annoying and I think fans of the originals will enjoy it.
Oh yeah - I really hope American's listen very carefully to Padme's speach to Anakin about the war and try to think about what she's saying in the context of what's happening in your name.

I give it three out of 5 stars. It is very long though with some parts that really dragged on
I had to get up at one point to go to the bathroom and missed a part where yoda apparently throws his lightsabre

Jon, the lightsaber throwing by Yoda was cool, or at least I think it was. I must of blinked because I just saw Yoda jump up on the guy and pull out his lightsaber. It was still cool.
I agree that the dialogue sucked, but really almost all the dialogue in Star Wars movies is bad. . . even the original had moment when I say. . .that's terrible acting. Nevertheless it is an awesome show so go see it. Or not.

also the original puppet yoda was way better than the modern cg yoda, the special effects in a lot of scense seemed to have a sureal quality that detracted from the reality of the scenes
