Why not us?

Post by NotHisRealName »

I was checking out some previews at Apple - Trailers, and I saw this:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/rize/

And it got me thinking... Why the hell not footbag?

Is it because it's not *new*? Is it because it's not aggressive?
I dunno, but I think we would all make a beautiful story... the Footbag scene.

Yeh, I saw that preview in before I saw crash (a really really good movie). I was most impressed with that guy who did like half a flip and landed on his back. That was so cool! He just smacked that floor.[/quote]

I like how their names are all gangsta like Lil C, Tight Eyez, Lil Mama, and Dragon... and then there's Tommy the Clown. If people dressed up like clowns and played footbag I probably would disavow my affiliation with this sport. :D

Addendum: I ain't 'scriminatin' 'gainst no clowns, yo. My brudda was a clown back in the day, an' we got down funky style, G. But ain't no room fo' clowns in da Club Dancin'. Word.

^^ ahahahaha.. if someone dressed up as a clown everytime they shredded I would kill myself laughing. My only wish would be that they win worlds and pictures of them are plastered all over the internet. Go footbag!

To answer Gareth's question - "Why not footbag" - and maybe to make a point about all the people dissing this trailer - look at the size of the crowds watching. When footbag can get crowds like that there will be hollywood movies being made about it.

edit: I find it pretty amazing that people can play footbag and dis another new and uncommon sport or past time.

I'm not dissing it cause it's new-- I'm dissing it cause it looks stupid. I think skateboarding, breakdancing, and poi all look cool. In fact, I might even try to learn some poi this summer. But gyrating like a mo'fo just doesn't seem very appealing. Man, I even think RIVERDANCING looks pretty sweet. Club dancing just looks pretty... dumb. (If you're into it, though, Jeremy, don't let me stop you :o )

yeah, I was gonna say (before I read seaths)

don't any of you think that was awesome? I thought that looked incredible, and I bet if those guys looked at footbag, they could appreciate it. I look forward to seeing this film. The view of the culture looks fascinating, and the dance is bound to be unreal

the point of the post was not to diss this other culture... it was merely to point out that there's a film about this and not about footbag. In my opinion footbag is a much more beautiful sport... a dance with the bag and gravity. There's so little anger and anamosity in the sport and *should* be more appealing to so many more people.

Oh well. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before one of us makes a film like that.

To quote myself, "I was most impressed with that guy who did like half a flip and landed on his back. That was so cool!" I wasn't being sarcastic, that really was awsome :D

I don't think you see nearly enough to really judge what they're doing. The clips are way too short to really see what is going on. After getting into footbag I've been very open minded about these sorts of things. I haven't seen enough to say if it's cool or not but even if iI don't like I still have respect for it.

As for it not being us on that video... It definitely has a lot to do with the crowds and from the preview I get the feeling that it took over the community where they live. I still think footbag would make a much cooler movie. Footbag looks a lot cooler in my opinion, but i don't think any of us have some dramatic true story for the movie to be based on.
