You people gots yo shitt togetha! Here's my way.
I usally put on a shred vid (sickining, or ToTT2)while i shreach. I try to streach for 15 to 20 minutes. Doing Hurdler streches, but to the trailing leg, hold for 10 sesonds, relese. the grab my toes, straight kneed, hold 10, go back to the trailing leg, hold 10, back to toe, ect., on Both sides, then butterfly strech for 30 seconds, relax, and do 10 head rolls, both ways, and butterfly again for 30 seconds, and relax. Then i strech my ankles. I stand up, and put my foot in walk over position, and bend both legs and hold for 15 seconds. I do this on all sides of both feet. Now were ready to warm up!! *wavy screen, like in a wayne's world flashback*. . . .And now that we are all warmed up, we can shred! But keep your goals realistic, and within your spectum. don't push your self too hard, or too far. and ALWAYS SHRED TO MUSIC!!!!you will no beleive how much this will help. I listed to mostly techno stuff, like Dj teisto, Aaron simpson, Astral projection, good trance, but not a "beat you into the ground house beat" either, smoothe, jivin music will fill your soul, and you, and the footbag, become one. There are no diffrences between you and the hack. This is you moment of Chi. remember it. remember how to return. it will guide you.

well we sure got some nice answers here :)
What me and rrendsvig have been doing in order practice hard moves is the following:
Be two persons, have 3-5 tries each, and then start busting that hard trick (or combo). it's nice coz you get to recover while the other person is trying.

Comment on the "mental readyness" - I think it's very good. and focusing. I once heard this little theory about Vasek' success (this is probably not the key reason though). Hence he is a rather good chess player, he can focus well. both while shredding or training hard moves.

and just like smb said, it's good to think your footwork AND THE POSITION OF THE REST OF THE BODY through while playing.

go train! :)
shut up and shred... at http://www.footbag.ee :D

That's right shredhead! I forgot to post that. It's very nice to be able to see someone else try out the same thing, see what he does/doesn't that makes the move work/not work.

take a danceclass to improve your balance or take an aerobics class to get all those muscles into shape, you might think that the best way to learn footbag is to play footbag but every successful athlete ever has cross trained. learn how to stretch, i bet none of you really understand stretching, understand that if you stretch while not warmed up you only stretch at 65% of your muscles ability. do you know that you should train differnt muscle groups on differnt days? or that its better to play 3 short sessions in a day than 1 long session? read an excercise physiology book, expand your mind and your body will follow.. oh eah.. dont be afraid to guilt or even tilt as opposed to dropping... that is key..

also I believe in both sidedness... ice skaters however, are completely one sided.
