Star Wars Episode III Thread

if you're exposed to the vacuum of space, dont you immediately implode (explode?)? wasnt there a scene where i think...obi-wan and some others where exposed to space? i dont remember. something that i didnt think would work.

Ya well there is no sound in space either because sound needs some sort of atmosphere (air) for the sound waves to travel through, but there are all kinds of sounds in space in all the Star Wars.

But it wouldn't be much fun if there were no sounds in all those cool space battle scenes.

just watched it last night with a couple of frenchies, actually the workprint version we downloaded on the internet with two big knock off timers on top screen, since the only theatre in the country does'nt even know what star wars is!

We watched all the clone wars episodes before tough, it was kind of a marathon

Regarding the space issue.
You'll remember that there was a lot of air gushing out when the 'shields' closed. That means they weren't exposed to the vacuum yet. The ship was definately decompressing(?), but like most modern star fighters, the ship would be segmented with emergency airlocks in the case of such an occurance.

If anything, I'd be asking about the artificial gravity. Notice how when the ship (at the beginning) begins going down, everyone slides along the floor until they're walking on the walls? I want to know how that would work because surely the gravitation device would be pulling from the bottom of the ship, so no matter which way the ship was pointing, they would still be able to stand upright on the floor.
In space, there is no up.

But asside from that minor, minor gripe, I LOVED it. Epps 1 and 2 really tested my patients with the whole Star Wars saga, but Epp 3 renewed my love for the lot.

I saw it last night, and the only complaint was when windu was gonna kil the chancellor, and hes like

"I am going to put a stop to you once and for all" IN a monotone voice. Other than that i loved this movie! So much Yoda action. I go to see starwars movies for one reason, and that is Yoda

Actually NASA did experiments and you can actually survive in space for about 7 seconds*. And you don't implode at all.

But the battle at the start is still in the atmosphere of the planet it's being fought above, so all the noise and stuff is fine. (And the fire. You can't have fires in space.)

I saw it last night. Yes, there were some terribly cheesy scenes and bad acting but I think Sam put it best

you know what? the first two were crappy and stupid - but they still rocked because they were star wars - i do love them - and im sure ill love the 3rd

Much better than the first 2, thankfully. Too bad Jar Jar didn't die a random horrible death. Like some random lightsaber decapitating him.

I was talking to a friend of mine about what it would be like if several decades from now some one did a remake of the whole saga but in chronological order. I was thinking that even if the acting and the story were superior in every which way to the originals I would probably say some typical old fart thing like, " Bah, the original was still better!"

I'm kind of upset there won't be an episode 3.5... Things in it could be like:

leia amidala growing up as leia organa
Han solo as an imperial officer
the antilles with the droids
empire expanding
More yoda
More obi wan
More Qui Gon
And, randomly, a twi-lik stipper.

Wait a minute...more Qui-Gon? I haven't seen this Epi(c)sode yet, but does he return? Is there an answer to the question: Why didn't his body disappear when he died(?) fighting against Darth Maul? ? ...or "joined the Force", whatever.

I'm not a hard core SW fan, but I think it's a part of culture that you've seen all the Star Wars episodes, aswell as all the LOTRs. So I'm sure I'll watch it eventually.

i've been sort of stewing on this movie for a week or so now, and here's something interesting: I can't remember a single line from the movie.

I can quote you half of the original star wars trilogy, but there isn't a single line that stands out for me from the last three. there were no moments where I felt connected to the character, uplifted by their struggles, or moved by their loss. to me, that's the hall mark of a shitty movie.

Oh well, let us hope their done now, and lucas won't desecrate the series any farther.

I was thinking the same thing too, but then again I saw 4, 5 & 6 about a hunderd times a piece. Not to mention the countless times anything Star Wars related has come up on other shows & media.

just saw it, i loved it. so much better than 1 and 2, they should have never made 1 and 2, they should have just summed up everything that happened in those boring movies in the the begining text of episode 3.

carls final thought episode 3 was cool.

SPOILERS

I finally saw it. My first impression within the first 15 minutes was, "How could I have expected anything good??", but I felt that it picked up after that initial reiteration that acting in the "new trilogy" is non-existent. Okay -- one of the coolest parts in any of the 6 movies was R2D2 sitting in a pile of drones he TOOK OUT!!! R2D2 was wicked in this movie!! From there, things started being not TOO horrible. Having watched Clone Wars really paid off (although Clone Wars is better than all 6 movies put together and I didn't just watch it for the story) -- everything made SO much sense! Mace Windu is the coolest character in Star Wars (episodes 12-13!!!!) -- Grievous doesn't cough horribly from a decimated chest cavity for nothing (that's right....MACE WINDU!!)

I liked how everyone kept tricking me and making me so unsure about whether Palpatine was actually Darth Sidious or not...I was so confused!

I was disappointed with Ewan McGregor's acting. Obi Wan and Qui Gon were awesome in the first movie. I think the Anakin actor just brought everyone down with him. Natalie Portman was horrible too

These actors were GOOD in the first movie (I realized this after watching a bit of the first after finishing the third...)

Anakin turned to the darkside too easily. The Emperor was just, like, "I'm right -- I can save Padme. Follow me!" And Anakin was just, like, "Okay, just let me kill my jedi master." Then for a moment he's a little regretful, but the moment passes and he's dubbed Lord Vader a minute later.

The best thing I have to say about the movie was how COOL it made the rest of the sectology(??)!! I immediately HAD to watch the fourth movie, and GEE WHIZ it's SOOO much more amazing now!!! I kind of noticed how they dumbed-down the technology aesthetics near the end to match with the old school big bulky white silly computer walls of the original trilogy -- good. I really didn't like how they SUPER over did all their fancy technology in the new movies. The first one is by far the best of the three in my opinion -- the acting was decent (especially Anakin...obviously played by another actor altogether), the computer graphics weren't too horrible overdone (to the degree that the last 2 were)...

Now I also really wish there were some hidden Qui Gon references in the fourth movie, or something. Qui Gon was so sweet (cameo appearances in Clone Wars!!!!!).

Really?

I thought Episode 1 had the worst acting because of Anakin.
