I will hook you up dude. My parents are in the process of renovating our basement. By the time July 1 hits there should be a couch or 2 down there, plus A LOT of floor space.Johnny wrote:El Broko over here needs some crash space as well. If anyone has some let me know...
Otherwise its the hostel. Meh.

holy sick! this shit is blowing up!
You guys are all going to be blown away by Ottawa too.
I was just there and I got to see where it's all going to happen and Ryan eagerly explained for me the scene on Canada Day and it all seems like its going to be so epic.
The location is stunning and also right next the the sweet indoor/outdoor rain spot.
We are going to be VERY visible! As in the center of attention for MANY thousands of people!
woo hoo! shred freaks!
See you all then!!!!!
PS I *will* be bringing bags for sale.

Oh yeah, I guess nobody has really described what canada day in ottawa is like. Maybe i'll take a moment to do that: FUCKED UP!
Seriously, Ottawa is our nations capital, and July 1st is our nations birthday, and shit goes DOWN in ottawa. They close downtown to cars, and buses are free after dark, so everyone comes downtown to get totally loaded and party on the street. No joke, there will be more people with canada flags on as capes getting loaded on patios than you have ever seen!
I'm not even sure I can describe what a rediculous zoo downtown ottawa becomes on canada day. Help me out here TOFU. Generally about 100,000 people come out for the party, filling the parliament hill, majors hill park and the art gallery park (the three big downtown parks) plus a bunch of other parks... Ottawa likes their parks...
Anyway, the streets are undrivable 'cause they're full of loaded people, and then there are fireworks. yeah! So anyway, I think you're all going to be very surprised at the magnitude of the party. Can't wait to see you all there!

lol @ Tom's magical munchables.
Yea what Jared said.. Canada Day in Ottawa is intense.. So not only will all of you be participating in the first Ottawa Footbag Tournament EVER but you also will have an amazing time enjoying the atmosphere! It's really the best place to be in Canada on July 1st... Well, at least to my knowledge.
IM SO FUCKING STOKEDED.
Also if people are still looking for crash space I can house two more at my place..
EDIT:
Here's some Ottawa info for all of you who have never got to see how beautiful our city is.
Here's the Event Listing for Canada Day this year.. It will be online at the beginning of June:
http://www.canadascapital.gc.ca/canadaday/
Here's the NCC's webpage it goes over alot of information about what Ottawa has to offer:
http://www.canadascapital.gc.ca/index_e.asp
Theres a huge electronic show happening on Canada Day at two Awesome venues, Capital Music Hall and Surface Night club. It's called Believe and 7en is holding it. Here's the lineup:

Great time to have a jam! Ma femme will be in Europe, and Quebec will be ignoring Canada Day, so I really don't have a reason not to come- unless I have to work. Does anyone have a couch for me? I'm too old for the floor. Also, what is the itinerary? Is it just a one day jam? What time does it start & end? Directions? Will we be partying somewhere afterwards? Etc. Details, etc. please! Organize and officialize!
EDIT: Are you guys sure a group of 20+ footbaggers won't get kicked out our spot? Why don't you make some phone calls and make the jam an official activity?! That would be awesome. Probably too late, but worth a try. Thanks for making it happen!

UPDATE FOR TOFUSHRED!
Because of an overwhelming response to our little shredjam, Mr. Ryan Seath and myself have decided to change the jam into an event that will last from Friday, July 1st until Sunday, July 3.
We have also decided, along with the sick3 and sick1, to have a consecutives competition as well.
There should be enough floorspace/couchspace to house everyone for that timeframe. I am gonna be speaking with my parents tonite to see exactly how many people I can have stay over at my place and I'll get Ryan and Jared to do the same... Just so we can get some exact numbers.
As for a location, we are currently working on it... But it will be ready in more than enough time.
If you have any questions/concerns, let them be known!

I was just told the most fucking insane news about a crowd of shredders that have confirmed that they will be coming.
I can't say who told me what because it's all hush hush, but this is NOT an event to be missed!
This is so exciting! I am thrilled about all the people that are showing up for this! I KNOW no one will be disappointed, Ryan has wanted a footbag event in Ottawa forever.
I am really glad this is all coming together so great!

OK! MORE INFO!
I've reserved the Mcnabb Community Centre for Saturday from Noon to 5pm. This will be the day and venue for the actual competitions. It is located at 180 Percy Street. I will make maps for everything asap.
I know many people have crash space at either My house, Dan's house or Jareds house but for those who still need a place to stay there are some hostels in the downtown area:
University of Ottawa Residence 613-564-5400
This is probably the best bet they have alot of space. Single rooms go for $40 a night, double rooms go for $60 a night, and for $135 a night you can get a suite that can hold up to "4" people. It includes two double beds, two seperate bedrooms, a kitchenette and a private bathroom.
Ottawa International Hostel 75 Nicholas St. 613-235-2595
This one is super cool. It used to be the county jail way back in the day now it's a hostel. it's $26.33 per person per day and they do private rooms for $59.95. They are veeery busy so they didn't let me reserve any rooms so it's a first come first serve basis.
Ottawa Backpackers Inn 203 York St. 613-241-3402
This is a smaller one. They don't do groups but they do individuals. It's $20 a night plus tax per person.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the very tentative schedule of events that will be worked out more later on this week is as follows:
Friday July 1 - start kicking at the war memorial in confederation square at noon. Shred till whenever there is no light then sit back and enjoy the fireworks. A possible communal party establisment will be worked out soon although all of downtown will be flooded with the party type so wherever we end up will be good times.
Saturday July 2 - Noon to 5pm at Mcnabb Community Centre located at 180 Percy Street. It's a gymnasium. Lots of space and right beside a sick skate park so we should have lots of kids around to impress. It's a 5 minute bus ride from the downtown core where the hostels are and where we will be kicking on July 1st. As far as the specific times the Shred 30, sick 3/1 and consecutives competitions will happen check back on this thread later on this week. To cover the cost I'm asking for 5 bucks from everyone who attends. Any extra money we may make will go to prizes. After 5 we are working on either a BBQ at one of our houses, or a common drinking hole.
Sunday July 3 - All day at the War memorial again. Pray for sunshine, but do not worry if our prayers are not answered there is a sick covered shred spot literally across the street from the war memorial.
So that is the tentative schedule. Check back here for blanks to be filled.

P.S. I need volunteers to judge the competitions
