stitchers contest

I think that we have different footbag contest but we don't have a challenge for stitchers

I propose a contest where everybody will send their own footbags and a jury formed by experinced footbaggers will chose a winner

other problem is the lacking of the review for diferent footbags. I'm sure that we have very good stitchers but they are not very known .
on Internet you can find reviews for cars, photo camera but not for footbag .
I think the great spirit of this sport is that the footbags are made by independent people( not all the time ) and these reviews can share the information about these men
the footbag is not just footbag players but also the stitchers !

So, really, who's going to judge this? I could see worlds having the appropriate people present to take a look at a lot of footbags and pick a good one... the problem is, bags aren't really judgeable until they've broken in.

We could have a Best Pattern competition online without people having to send their bags out. That would yield some creative patterns and some really beautiful footbags. We could do a little exposition, and then sell the footbags at the end. Basically, a little art show for us collectors in the bag-buying community.

i dont think this is posibule unless each stitcher gives out 5 bags to 5 different people then tally up what ones every one likes, each bag brakes in differently, its hard to make bags that are equal so much that they will be the exsactly the same after they break in bc the tecneque of breaking them in would have to be the exsactly the same. some peopel could use fabric softner or have there own special way of makeing a bag the way they like it. an other people may like fingering it slowly an makeing it get good with time, an others may just kick it around an break it in that way. also some people like floppy some like puffy bags. this is a hard thing to just pick 1 judge. so if this is onestly going to go down we need to have more then 1 bag from each stitcher an more then one judge. maybe we can compromize a plan on how to raise money or donations to find out whos the ALTAMET STITCHER.

this could become really awsome.

I hate being negative but this would be hard to achieve.

A 'good bag' is so subjective to the individual player.

yeah, I'm with you, Tom.

It just doesn't seem feasible, and it's too subjective (and pricey, and lengthy) to break in a bunch of footbags and have someone judge them. What if they're having a bad shred day when they test an awesome bag?

I think an aesthetic online Best of the Bags competition could work, though... responses? interest? What would they win? maybe nothing... but we could judge the bags on aesthetic appeal and technical merit... although, stitchers, how much of a stitcher's technical merit is apparent by just looking at a picture of a bag?

I dunno, thoughts?

You can see some degree of stitch consistency by looking at pictures online.

But what I have learned from going to footbag tournaments is that footbags come in MANY flavours! I am always shocked and excited by how different and wierd the bags I come across can be!

Even the bags I have made myself have the ability to turn out SO varied simply based on a few changes to the stitching style. The thing is though, they probably all look pretty similar in the pictures posted but what you can't tell is how they feel, which is what really counts.

Some bags feel like sacks of supple heaven while others are crusty roll fests despite similar appearance.

I guess points are still warranted for nice stitch appearance though.

I think my new order of facile came today in the mail, I will post a shit load of new bags really soon, here comes the firestorm!!!

Oh yeah, and Vida will be making facile 32's soon too!

i'm think everything is subjective

a photo contest is something subjective but the people who send photos accept the rules

i know that a bag must be broken and people can send allready broken bags

i was just an idea
