Why aren't you an IFPA member?
Why aren't you an IFPA member?
Not having a go at you - I'm just curious as to why you haven't joined the IFPA yet (if you have there is no need to comment - obviously
)
Yeah kind of. I've just joined the IFPA members committee as well as becoming more involved with the IFPA so I've been thinking about the issue for a while. I saw your post and that kind of triggered some more thinking about it.
If you want to send in a cheque/money order you definitly can - if you go to http://www.footbag.org/ifpa/join and follow through the links you'll be given a payment option - click "mail to US/Europe" and it will give you the details - too easy

If you join, you will be able to throw sponsored tournaments. You will get better advertising and sponsorship because IFPA will help you to make your tourney bigger and better. You also get a free IFPA t-shirt as well I believe. PLus, you can upload videos and create your own picture gallery on footbag.org. It provides more storage space than you need. Those are rpetty good reasons to join!

T-shirts are small to XXL but cost $15 US extra (making a years membership $25 with the shirt).
What you get for joining: The most important thing in my opinion is that you help the growth of footbag. More members means more people take the IFPA seriously and more money is available to sponsor tournaments and keep http://www.footbag.org up and running. It makes you an official footbag player I guess you could say - which is vital for things like getting footbag to be recognised by the IOC - ie. recognised internationally as an official sport (which currently it isn't).
Of course you do get to compete in IFPA tournaments, as well as the upload space for movies and pictures. You also get to vote in IFPA elections and thus have a say in the direction of the sport.

Do not think like this in such a sport like footbag- think what you will do for the sport by joining the IFPA.
It is so important to put money in this association .
Moreover the services you get are really good but as I mentioned before if you don't get anything, the work of the IFPA should be enough reason for joining them.
Come on guys - do your duty and invest 10 $ per year for pushing this great sport!

I would push for everyone to be temp banned from modified until they sign up for IFPA membership. I mean really, its $10 fucking dollars!
You spend more than that on
a 32 panel
bag of weed
soda/pop for a week
new shirt
new shorts
xbox live
dialup internet
really I can go on and on. By donating, your showing your support for footbags progression. All positive

I haven't signed up because they are having trouble with their credit card service thing.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

You have a point but then again so does Luke. I had point once, but then I forgot it. I think maybe this could apply to people like me. I been posting for almost a year. I been playing for a year and a month, it's about damn time I got it. I don't think this should apply to newbies. Maybe after a year? Also, I don't really know what is inculed in a ban. Can you still read the threads and just not post?habitat wrote:I would push for everyone to be temp banned from modified until they sign up for IFPA membership. Anyways back to subject, I'm lazy pretty much. I need to get around to it. I feel bad sometimes that I'm not. It is only $10. I have that much in my pocket right now.
I should really do it soon....
I think I going to take over Canada. You should help.

I just renewed my membership. Damn Paypal is handy! Thanks for the reminder Jeremy.
I think more people would become members if they actually got something out of it, besides worlds etc.
What if stitchers offered free shipping (just an example) to IFPA members, or if more footbag shops offered discounted prices to IFPA members (or even slightly higher prices for non-members). This would give people the initiative to join. Because in the end you might even SAVE money by becoming a member.

I don't compete, and I don't hold tournaments, thus I am not a player.
I'm also apathetic to the advancement of footbag as an organized sport. I was in the IFPA when I used to compete or at least attend events, now I don't even attend events. I keep it street.

To be a footbag player you don't really need to go to tournaments or compete. You just need to play footbag, which you do I assume.
What if the videos section was made an IFPA member only forum? I think that would be a pretty good idea, except for the fact that some of the people that submit videos may not be members, and :. wouldn't post. I guess that problem could be solved if when submitting video you have an option to make it Public or IFPA only. Maybe this would be better suited to an IFPA Initiative thread.
Sorry for being off topic.

Maybe I'll even join if I'll get the money, but I don't get any good for joining because I don't compete in competitions, I don't need that video or picture space, because I don't have a digital camera, I don't need that email account, I allready have one and my little vote in the elections doesn't count enough for 10$ dollars. But atleast I help the growth of footbag. If IFPA would help me directly in promoting footbag in Estonia I would join.
