YO ! Today was such a perfect day :D the nicest weather and good food,
no work but having a good time at the lake nearby, with hot sunrays,
easing winds, cold water ( we talk eskimo porn here  ) and
sweet outdoor shred :P

Naturally, it was a very easy session, none of the high energy madness,
thats usually dominant when i session with Max .

There was no drilling at all, i just did some nice tiltless runs with a coupla
xbd rakes, pixie anythings and ducking stuff...and i have a feeling that
both, run length and control aresomewhat increasing ...yaaay !

As for my better moves i hit dlo, blur, datw and my beloved atomsmasher,
and some new links too : flip smear>xbd rake and clip set dlo>plo

Tomorrow i try to get hold of Bea and Angrod for some hardcore footbag
action

@ Flavio : mach dir mal keine Sorgen, das Video kommt scho...gut Ding
will eben Weile haben .

Flavio, you'll have to wait for some weeks I guess - I have hardly any
spare time right now. Right now I'm getting the rest of the footage on
the computer, but the hard part will be cutting the video. Don't expect
a video before 2-3 weeks. I'm gonna be on holiday with my girlfriend
all week.

We just play for about 45 minutes yesterday. No serious run or something, but Bea now understands the Drifter motion and the bag passes behing her leg :)
Today I hit Eggbeater in jeans at the university ;)

1. June 2005
I just came back from a solo session in the Olympic park. There is a nice sports field right behind the Olympic stadium with a 400m track that has great surface! I love to play on these kind of surface.
Inspired by Ken's blog I started with just kicking the bag, I got 65 kicks wich may be a new record for cause I never really counted my kicks :) I'm gonna push that number to 100+ within the next session!
Then I did Toe stalls, with occasionally Mirages in between, (also inspired by Ken) and I managed to do 73 because I dropped on a ss Mirage.
After that I went for Legovers and did 76 in a row 8), my legs began to feel heavy after 50 Legovers but I continued. So as you can read I tried to improve my stamina and hope this will help my run lenght in the long run ;) Other things I did were 30 Infinities, (I dropped the 31. th just like the last time I reached the magical 30) 24 contacts of Butterfly > PDX Mirage, lots of Clipper > Osis repeat and I worked on my Flip Pixie set wich seems to be out of control for some reason for the last 2-3 months...
It always goes way to much to the outside of my body (left is my flip pixie and the bag flys to the left :( ) so I forced myselfe to really set it to the middle of my body. I guess I'm not used to the Toe box of the G Units yet. But I will drill my Pixie set really hard, cause it is one of my favorite concepts and I want to keep up with my sister :D
There are two other things were I'm fixing my technique now.
1. Clipper > Clipper with really turining my hip (about 180 degrees) thanks for that tip Jason!
2. My Pdx Illiusions really need some tuning! I assume I can do Illiusion pretty good :) But I just did the Pdx Illiusions way to inefficient. But at the Footjam I watched Ian doning then closely. He has such nice and thight Pdx Illiusions and that also comes from turning your hip! So when I do that trick with a real hip pivot, and I don't drop, it feels so much more comfortable and easier!!! I love them doing that way! Thanks Ian :)
After the session I stretched an ran barefooted in the grass and two track and field athletes asked me if I am a pro and if I'm doing this seriously :P
I explained them how Footbag works and gave them our club url.
So thats it for now. I hope to play again tomorrow.

Consecutives. stamina. control. smashin' records - thats the way 2 go :D

Since i couldnt shred myself until today, i spend a lot of time thinking
about various elements to upgrade my game :
timing, control, stamina and good form = better moves (quality) +
longer strings (quantity) :P

Where i'm at, its very important to refine all the basics along those lines ;
i've been passionatly playing freestyle for 8 months, and i want to
make sure that i dont loose the plot now .

Inspired by Bea and Max i was always onto solid basics and i learned,
that its good to have em on both sides, and that was a lot of sweat :)

After a while my legs felt smart and reliable enough to try other
concepts than pixie or ducking, and along side of stepping/atomic
experimentation it was also the time to work on some next level
core stuff like dlo, datw, whirl/ rev swirl .

Slowly, it became all about trying to hit every basic trick out of the
four concepts i can ( to some extent  ) do and although
there is still a lot of stuff missing - legbeater, tapdown, ducking symp
mirage, stepping ss mirage - i was suddenly able to hit a bunch of new
tricks, all 3's or 4's on both sides without the former hassle .

Now its very tempting to get caught up in the wish of hitting bigger
moves, but i realized that only the fanatical drilling of basics enabled
me to get this far.
In order to get all the small things i can do under control, i should give
the fundamentals even more time and attention ;

I'm kinda already doing this by working on hitting every move out of
every move - thanx Max for the inspiration ! - its springtime, and
alot of guiltless combos are suddenly poppin up

Once Bjoern pointed out to me, how useful it is, if you understand
a move through its components in order to get to the root of it.
So when i went out to play today, i worked on in to out atws to
stimulate my weak ! pixie .

Later i drilled atw out>atw in> ducking toe rpt, i want more solid
ducking anythings and more of that datw stuff, only 12 contacts though...

But it was enuff to lead to ducking legover and ducking pick up bs
When i footed ducking legover b2b, another thing came to mind( again) :
its realy important for me to focus one every single element of a move
or combo, cause i tend to rush things a bit ;
i simply didnt hit it b2b, because i was like wow, 2 duck legovers in a row,
and i wasnt concentrating on the fact, that i need a delay for that last legover to have it ..hahahahah.

All this concentration, timing and contol stuff also makes the moves
more relaxed, more economical and thus nicer looking.
Its fun to get deeper in the matter called footbag, and its kool to have
met all these people sharing their knowledge and appreciation and
i feel like thanking a few :

Bea, Ian and Jason : just watching you guys is a lesson in style !

Bjoern and Max : sharp eyes and exellent intructions.

Elli and Hania : thurst for knowledge and fighting spirit .

i want to heal up for good and frikken kill shit

2. june 2005
Back from another rather short solo session (40 min) in the same place as yesterday. I again worked on my pixie, and my flip pixie only flew away a few times on the other tries it went almost where I wanted it to be :) Those Set > Handcatch drills really help. I did the same with my Stepping set and after that I did 5 Stepping ss Clipper on each side, I noticed that it totally helps to keep the setting clipper foot very low, just above the ground (as some ppl on the forum mentioned). The Stepping ss Clipper should help me to get my Stepping set clean and straight. For my stamina I again did Toe Stalls and 45 Pickups. Daryl, Bjoern PLZ tell me when you guys can play again!

whaddup munich crew

hahaha glad i could help you Daryl and Max :D , though i dont know how anyone could learn anything useful from watching me play, i really dont like my style :?

I hope you get better soon Daryl! I think all footbaggers sympathise with people when they hear about new injuries, because they no how bad it is when you cant kick for some time! Best wishes man

I think i will be at GFO, its just tough finding a flight that doesnt cost too much money! At the moment it will cost me like £125 return. Is that reasonable?

How much is a train ticket from Frankfurt to Berlin?

Hi Ian the Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) has a good offer right now; 29 ? for a single trip so Frankfurt > Berlin and back would be 58 ?. Or you find an ever cheaper flight to Munich and come with us to Berlin ;)
