Are there any tricks or exercises you can do with your left foot so you can pull a left foot pendulum? Thanks.

Ok, thanks anyways. I thought there might be some odd exercise that someone might have demised up... Oh well.

Not many people do pendulums. The only one i know of that does them is Evan Lovely. I actually forget his modified name, and i feel retarded about that, but i will try and find it and give it to you.

Yes, I've seen a few of Evan's pendulums. He's pretty damn good at them. I have trouble controlling the height of my pendulums when I'm trying to turn around and do something, but I'll get it down sometime.

I'm actually very new to freestyle footbaging, I've been circle hacking inconsistanly for almost a year but I never thought that complex tricks even existed until I went online to buy a new footbag.

Anyway, strangely a pendulum is one of the only tricks I can do, and I think I can help you. First off you should keep your leg straight as far in the motion as you possibly can (but you probably already know that). Another thing that might help especially for the weakside is to not stop your leg rotation after the delay. In other words, as you begin to "catch" the footbag in a downward motion, use that motion (and gain momentum) to complete the rotation.

P.S. the delaying motion should happen with the knee as straight as possible.

If this is unclear just tell me.

Considering you can do a good side pendulum, you know the technique (constant tangential velocity, keep leg straight, point toe or turn foot at the end). Just apply this to your flipside. I have never really practiced my flip pendulum, and years later it still sucks. Pendulum and eclipse are really bitches for the flipside. So just practice it and it will come.

Oh, and by the way I noticed that on the flip side my main problem was that my foot would turn slightly sideways (ie not parallel to the line of rotation) so it may help if you focus on keeping your foot parallel until it comes natural.

Its also a factor of balance.

Pendulum was the first trick i learned beyond basic stalls.

Im now spend much more time on drilling two add tiltless runs and some 3 add toe moves but when in a hack circle with a bunch of circle kickers/noobs i find it fun to swing a high flying pendulum as a pass. So i think its a cool trick but i would never spend the time schooling it to throw it in as a mid run trick.

so yeah make sure your balance is keyed up real good. and i guess since your asking for a trick that will help the first thing that comes to my mind would be rake.

Sorry for the 3rd thread on this page, but I'm quite full of questions.

I have been practicing the pendulum for the past hour. I've been following the tips found in the trick section of footbag.org . Well, I have almost *mastered* the trick in bare foot and socks. Shoes....well.... It doesn't work. Out of the 200 times I've tryed, it just flys far behind me. Sometimes I would have to go back to socks just to make sure I'm not crazy. Is there a trick to doing it with shoes on?

Edit : I've tryed cranking my ankle/foot as far up and forward as I could and I got it once. After that, I completely lost it. It was really nice getting it that one time though. Still practicin.

the threads you post like this one should go in the trick tips section...but, when you do pendulum, start by swinging your leg all the way back, i even lean forward so my foot can go through the motion all the way possible, then at the very last moment possible, my knee pulls and my toes point out, launching the footbag infront of me, but i send the bag real high, not far, so it comes back and i can land in mirage or something....

Some good practice to keep the bag from flying away prematurely:
Arrow Forget the beginning stall part for now, just start with the bag on your toes. It is probably easier to do this trick with shoes on (I used to hit in Chucks 10 years ago, but lavers are probably best)
Arrow Swing your leg forward first, about 50 to 60 degrees, whatever feels natural.
Arrow Start swinging your leg back for the pendulum, using that arc space in front of you for more of a "runway" to build up speed.
Arrow Release your toe at the last possible second. I've found that looking back can actually screw you up here, do it by feel.

I could elaborate more on the physics of why this works, but that usually bores most people so I won't unless someone asks.

Once you've got this down, try it as one fluid motion from the toe delay. Use the slight downward catching motion that you do for the toe delay and continue it all the way around for the pendulum.

As always PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE and have fun.

Sorry about this thread being in the wrong place.

I do swing my leg all the way back - and lean forward.

Pendulum

Post by JoshC. »

I have been really confused on how to do the pendulum and i didnt find anything on this forum about it (sorry if their is already a post for it). Every time i try to do it, the bag flys of the back of my foot when i bring my foot back. To me, the pendulum seems to defy the laws of gravity. Is their anything critical that i need to do to make this move work? Any help would be nice.

Thanks

lift the front of your foot so it angles more towards you then just get some sweet momentum and swing it behind you the release should come naturally but if not just keep working on the timing, this trick is all about the momentum

Holy shit cakes...

This topic was just bumped two years after it went inactive...

double you tee eff...

Anyway, on the topic at hand, for a pendulum, you know how you can swing your foot back and basically kick your own ass? Well, you hold the bag with your to curled upwards and you don't "release" the bag untill you're an inch from nailing yourself in the ass. (Yes, I'm laughing at this too.)

I guess that's the best way to learn it for the first time.... After a while, you should be able to pull this with only lifting your foot maybe a foot off the ground. Gets easy after you do them for a while.

Good luck. ^_^)

Keep a straight leg as long as possible with a your toe cranked back. Release slightly from the side of your foot.

I'm still trying to get these to go straight over my head. I mostly use them to confuse people.

Once you can get them back-to-back, then they get the "WTF" looks on their faces.

Some tips that I used to learn the pendulum is to keep you foot flexed upward. Use a constant motion and don't try to flip you leg around to fast or the bag will fall off to soon. When pushing the bag behind you make sure that you look down and follow the bag back. This will make flipping the bag over you head easier. Lastly keep you leg strait until the very end when you will snap you leg at you knee. If all goes right, the bag should fly over your head and not at the wall behind you
