Street team idea

I used to be very involved with Music. I was in a band and promotion is my middle name.

So why not take the underground band approach of using a street team.

It can be a volunteer basis lead by represenetives in each major city to keep an eye out for events that will be good for promoting. Then that person will make sure that someone who can shred will be there loaded with the official modified.ca learn to freestyle flyer.

Selling bags can also be a major part of it. If every major city in america has one person to make sure footbag is whored throughtout every event that young potential freestylers may be found the sport will grow insanely fast.

A web link to an intro to footbag video can be put together where these people can see this video and we can show shred circle ettiquete, show the positivity of very talented players congragulating a noob for his first ATW. Show the difference between good shoes and bad shoes. difference bettween a quality bag and a BAD bag.

The closest to this kind of place i have seen is hoods shred house showing stretching shoe mods and basic tricks. but it can still be better with it being more formal and more organized in one video to where these people will see exactly what this sport is about RIGHT AWAY not for them to see vasek and go well i will never be able to do that.

Lets face it this sport will never go anywhere without players. I live in chicago and can name about 10 freestylers in the state. How can you expect this sport to make its way to television if its initial ratings will be on average 30-40 viewers a state and thats high balling it.

With persistence and patience we can propel this sport to rival the juggernauts of alternative sports.

I dont have much talent in art and shit like that but anybody who does start thinking of a flyer that will be universal (meaning it will have a logo and a name but only an empty space for location and contact info)

A name would also be good. and a seperate forum dedicated to the street team and tips on what when and where to promote.

Combining the internet and enthusiasm we can watch this sport grow.

summer has officially started so lets get this bad boy rolling and collectively work together with the same goal.

The other thing i suck at is thinking of names. any suggestions

I would if I were better

I'm leaving for the summer on the fifteenth to be a camp counselor. I'm bringing a couple Mr. Sandbags and definately plan on whoring Footbag to the children, despite my lack of skills. I've got some Freedom pamphlets and all. However, I know that when they get back they'll all go out and pick up a Flying Clipper Dirtbag

yeah it's an awesome idea - I already try my best to recruit people - playing at markets and festivals etc - joining every circle I see - trying to go a bit easy and not intimated people too much etc.

However I can't take part since I don't live in an American city

yeah zeke is doing his thing similar to this but i think since we spend so much time on here all talking about how this sport needs to grow i think we should combine our efforts nationally. Start up a web site all based around helping the beginners and helping player promote the sport.

Im not Underating everything you do with modified CA im just saying that if we get a street team going we can double our numbers.

from beginners to some of the most talented players we all love this site but thats only cause were the ones lucky enough to know this exists.

basically we need to take the modified CA attitude to the streets and do an overall collective job to get this sport to grow.

There are alot of people like yourself and like zeke who bust there ass and will do anything for footbag. I want to start something up to get more people to do the same so that almost everybody in every area has someone to shred with.

Shit maybe one day an olympic or xgames event the sky is the limit but we need more people to put forth that effort and attitude and do it in public and to people who are unfamiliar with the sport.

There's already a fantastic, intuitive, professional looking flyer available from FreedomFootbags. Daryl put a shitload of work into those things, the least we can do is use them.

omg now I think my brain really is going to explode.

Here's a suggestion - why don't you start referring to this as an international campaign - not a US campaign. This is techincally a Canadian forum and the majority of members are not from the US.

I know it's a fairly moot point but it would be nice for the rest of the world to be included since that's where 70% of the players in the finals of the last world championships came from

my bad jeremy i very much mis understood you. There really is no reason why anybody world wide cant participate in this.

The reason i didnt mention anything about it is cause i dont know anything about foriegn countries or foreign people. So im not excluding you its just that i dont think about it as much as i should.

Can it be like "Shred the America" or "America's Shred Street Team" or something? I think that would be majorly bogus.

Actually I think this is a great idea and I would like to participate it. I think "Shred the Word" is pretty cool. Any other ideas?

i think maybe what gareth meant is that footbag.org IS a good webpage for newbs? it got me hooked, it's got all the basic tricks listed, a forum where newbs can ask for help etc, and explains what footbag is. maybe instead of making a new page we should volunteer our time to help maintain/improve footbag.org?
