there will be a jam in olympia on june 11th i believe. it should be good. it'll be a bit more organized than seattle. more info later, just a heads up.

I dunno, man, probably not. Maybe, I'll have to make some effort with my parents. I'm going to try and make the Portland jam in July, though (best get your ass to that!).

NOOOOOOOOOOO! Again, I can't shred with James! WHY MUST YOU TORMENT ME... oh well, I get to shred with sam again, so it kind of balances out... but if you were there we could have a kick ass circle of pretty equal above-intermediate players. I amy not be able to go though, I have to raise more money and convince red to leave later on Friday cuz of my sister's graduation from Kindergarden. If I can do all of that then I'm compeating even! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I think that I hurt my ankle bad. I say that I THINK that I hurt it bad becuase I KNOW I hurt it, I just don't know how seriouse it is. IT kinda feels like a muscle popped off of my tnedon at the top of my foot, not allowing me to crank that ankle into a clipper position. I'm still going cuz I got one good shred foot, and that's all I need, but to let you all know I won't be in top form, and I'll problibly be filming a lot... I'm so sad

goooooood time. olympia is over, it was very fun. thanks a bunch to aaron for putting it together and to jane for putting us up. also thanks to everybody for coming out it really means a lot, especially you idaho bunch. this was a pretty relaxed jam, the competitions were taken pretty loosly nobody stressed out about them. jim of course won everything and got some prize money from aaron(he payed for just about everything out of pocket). the northwest shred scene is really starting to come together it seems. i think we're going to try to get all the northwest together a few times a year. also i'm starting to feel like part of the footbag community a bit now which is pretty cool.

Hey all,
Here's my review of the Olympia event. I am getting pretty used to going to a footbag event somewhere in the northwest almost every other weekend now (next weekend is the US Open, hosted by the Sole Purpose net group, there will be a fair amount of freestylers there representing as well). I have only missed one, unfortunately Sole Purpose could not make the Victoria Jam, but we will be there next year. The Super Summer Freestyle Jam was a success. Aaron did a great job organizing the event, it ran smoothly and the turn out was high. Representing Seattle was Scott Behmer, Sam Potter, Ricky Moran, and Justin Dale to name a few. From Olympia, it was Aaron, Keving Richie, and Jane Jones. Of the Sole Purpose posse, it was Noah Jay-Bonn, Nick Landis, and myself. Finally, from Boise, there was Jim Penske, Daryl Genz, and Sunny Freeman. There were quite a few other freestylers there, but I could not remember everyone's name.

There was an actual competition, which included Shred 30, Sick 3, and Rippin Run. Jim dominated all three pretty easily, then went on to perform his dropless 2 minute routine he will be presenting for John Stalberger next month in Portland. The audience was large, and into it. I wish Jim could make worlds this year, he could be a serious factor for top three in all freestyle events. He is far better than ever before, but more on that in a moment. Overall, the comp was low-pressure, and it looked like everyone involved was enjoying it. Kevin Richie provided a great juggling and comedy performance for the crowd as well. Kevin has great presence as an entertainer, he is a natural showman.

Everyone was shredding well, Sam Potter has improved greatly in the two short weeks since the Folklife Festival. He has gotten smoother, with longer runs and bigger combos. It was good to see Ricky out and in action, he hit quite a few really creative runs with a ton of jaw dropping ducking/spinning links (nice Symposium Bullwhip, by the way). Justin was shredding on with much of the same styley change up in his combos I mentioned in the Folklife review. Again, I was highly impressed by Kevin. He hit some sweet combos with really good form. Keep up the good work Kevin! Noah represented with his standard long strings and good variety. Nick Landis unfortunately was injured, so he was forced to take it easy play light. Hopefully by next week he will be back up to full strength again. I kicked for about an hour and a half total the first day, and without the back injury, my game was pretty much back to where it has been for the last couple of months. We had a second day shred that was Kevin, Jim, Scott, Nick, and myself atop a hill overlooking downtown Olympia. If people thought Jim was going off the first day, that was nothing compared to the second day. Jim repeatedly rattled off nothing but fearless combos for about an hour and a half. I think his highest number for 5s was 8 or ten, I lost count a few times. On request he hit Phoenix Fog repeat, Blurriest Blur repeat, Blurriest-Blizzard-Quantum Butterfly repeat INTO blurry whirl blur legbetter repeat, blender spinning blender both sides, whirl-swirl-whirling swirl-paradox whirl-repeat, and a new quad dex I have never seen before, Sailing DLO. We even had a tripless run stretch (one of my few specialties), and Jim cranked out with ease 22 at least. Noah hit a nice fearless combo towards the end of the session as well. I was inspired kicking with Jim, he pushed my game and was a lot of fun to play with. Thankfully, the rumors of him taking it easy are false. He told me personally that he was going to step it way up for Portland next month. I can't wait to see it.

Anyway, the weekend all in all was a huge success. Special thanks to the Olympia crew and Aaron and Jane in particular. I look forward to seeing some freestyler's next weekend, and everyone here in Portland next month. I have to say the I truly believe the Northwest Footbag Association is now one of the strongest freestyle group in north America. The area from Victoria to Eugene (Boise included) is densly packed with more talent than I have seen since the days of northern California almost a decade ago. We are all an easy jump from one another, and every city itself has a strong freestyle center. I have just heard another great rumor I hope to be true, two very strong freestylers are moving to Vancouver BC soon. I am not surprised about the resurgence of footbag in the northwest in the last couple of years, this is where it started, and support for the sport in this area is high. To sum up, Olympia rocked, next on the ciruit is the Northwest Fest! See you there.
