yep. I got a couple things of advice for you.
clippers: to practice the ankle position, put the foot you want to do the clipper with behind the support leg and GENTLY press it towards the ground. This will strech your ankle out slowly. But be careful. There could be problems with overstreching your ankles. I'm not entirely sure, but why risk something that important?
Mirages: set the bag, then get that setting leg down as quickly as possible. It would look something like...
setplant> dex> delay
^--- that's about how quick you want it to be.
Personally, I belive that setting the leg back down as quick as possible serves two purposes. 1) It gives extra time to set up for the next part of the trick (the dex) and 2) as you get the foot down to the ground, it gives you some momentum to do the hop for the dex. The delay part, well... If all goes well, it should come naturally.
As you get better with the cllippers and the mirages, try getting a mirage from a clip. Basically, it's just like doing a clip set op toe, just with making your leg go over the bag before it happens. If you'd like, I'll try to do a few of those on saturday.
butterflys: get clippers down pretty much pat before worrying about these. but it's an opening the hip thing for 50% of it. the other 50% is balance, bag placement, and overall control of your body.
here's some other things to try to work on as you kick and practice.
-the basic 8 toes: ATW (in to out and out to in), legover, pickup, mirage, illusion, pixie, and farie. (basics... duh!)
- clip> same clip> op clip > repeat. (bag control)
- clip into hand. Just try to get it as straight up and as high as possible. that will develop power. Setting from your hand will give you an idea as to where the clipper should land for the best results.
- osis
-clip set mirage (control)
-clip set legover (ditto)
- far legover (clip > same out > same toe)
- far pickup ( clip > same in > same toe)
- paradox mirage (clip > same out > op toe)
The last three or four are more difficult, so try to concentrate on teh first whatever i put up there.
Now, I'm going to go to bed... It's 3 fucking AM...

Props on everything and welcome to blogland! So sorry it took me so long to drop a positive post in here. I'll surely be reading the blog consistantly.
Props on the flip clips, rakes, hopovers, links, and both side atws. You're doing well, just always look for more new tricks to do, like same side mirage (like a pixie with a plant, newbs often forget a lot of these types of tricks and they help a lot when you don't have too many tricks and need practice with different elements.)
Of all of his 2000 posts, what John told you is probably the best post I've ever seen him make. Try to make best use of his words. John and Jeff will be able to help you a lot in the near future, just because of similarity of body type. I am less able to understand the center of gravity obstacles you will face on your way to four adds (when you get to that point, I think I can help you with anything you'll need).
Keep up the good progress and focus
Peace.
Bum

Oh, and btw I voted for mini because they almost always work good for me, but I really like some felix bags, lon's river pebble granny bag, and the bags Carol stitches for herself, in addition to the french bags. Cool poll.
And, you will get to play with Lon and or Abshire for sure, and hopefully Vasek will make it to town eventually, but even if not I think you'll meet him at some point.
Sorry for the double post. Peace,
Bum

Alright well I had a mini session today, Im getting really upset because it seems I cant progress anymore then I already have, Don't know why?? Ive been playing for about a month or so and all I can do is:
Mirage {Sometimes}
Pixie {Right Side}
ATW {Both Sides}
Clipper {Right foot good, Left foot is hard}
Hop over
Inside stall
toe stall
outside stall
xbody rake
Thats about it heh, And ofcourse I can kick the damn bag... I don't know... Itz all good though I just gotta keep up the practice, I started taking some glucosamine (sp?) and MSM supplements for my joints and some EAS Shakes for protein, and ofcourse ripped fuel
Newayz enough for today, peazzzz

Hey travis. You are about 10x as good as i was after a month! All i could do was toe stalls, and an ATW on one side. I sucked! You are really really great for 1 month. All those tricks. Just keep that in mind. You are progressing very fast!

totally calm down
Mirage is a center of gravity trick, you have two switch twice, and thats hard. You're just getting the hang of switching once with pixie, and legover, pickup, and fairy should be the focuses for now. Pixie will gradually turn from a mute same side mirage into both a set and a plant style mirage dex that will make mirage much easier to practice. Until then, work it some, but mainly work the others and wait for your muscles to develop and your balance to continue to improve.
Peace,
Bum

I think mirage is hard for you because you don't hop at all when you play. With mirage you have to hop at least a little to get a good catch on the bag. So work on doing toe stalls with little hops and then move to mirages.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

With mirages not hoping is a bad thing.
Think about it, say you set the bag with your right leg, you dex from in to out with your left leg. At this point your left leg is in the air while your right leg is supporting all your weight. Then you must plant your left leg and at the same time raise your right leg to catch the footbag. To do this motion, you need to hop. There is no other way to shift your weight in that position then to hop, unless you are insanely, insanely fast.

that was funny how we posted simultaneously
Fairy is opposite of pixie
Footbag is all about moving your center of gravity around, and you do have to be up and moving for that. But its a lot of work, and takes getting used to. Your new footbag muscles will make you more agile all the time. You may want to start the session with a minute of vigorous jogging in place or 15 quick jumping jacks or something, just to get up off the ground and moving. And watch how little I'm on the ground in the video (video section), that should be good to aspire towards.
Also though, slow is styley and helpful, and people like Lon use it to make runs huge and give themselves gnarly control, so don't give it up entirely, just adjust a bit.
Peace,
Bum

Well I havent been able to practice much today, But I started a diet so lets see how well this works, My joints are achin so Im drinking joint juice which has 1500mg of glucosamine (sp?) in it which is the LEAST amount you should have, newayz Im hoping to get mirages down before next saturday so lets see how I do
Ill post more on my session later.. peazzz
Yes loren I went out and bought some but instead of juice 4 joints I got joint juice because it has more glucosamine in it
