Shoe Gooing the Sole on a Laver

Post by Senor Grommet »

Can any one drop some advice as to how to repair the sole on a laver with shoe goo? Specifically, I want to repair the part under my toes. Please, to those who have performed this mod before or have seen it, help a brotha out!

Thanks,
Grom

The secret to really good shoe-gooing is many thin layers.

You start out by applying a thin layer of goo over the area you intend on building up and then let that dry.
You repeat this process putting the goo in more and more layers until the shape is right. I find this method creates a stronger bond compared with sludging out a bigass glob and then forming it into shape, which is a nasty messy process.

Hope this helps.

PS Shoe goo isn't as grippy as rubber.

My friend recently bought Shoe-goo and fixed his sole (under his toes). I don't know how he did it but he says that it holds nicely.

tape the hole from the inside, preferably with duct tape.
then do your first layer of shoe goo. after it dries I tape over
that with duct tape and then put layer 2. repeat. putting duct tape over
every layer makes the patch stronger. even so, if you play on
concrete like i used to you may have to repair your
shoes regularly.

Back in the day, my non-china lavers wore out from the inside under the big toe. I filled it with a big ass chunk of shoe goo, that showed on the outside. I had no problems till the shoe goo/laver connection broke apart at the seam. I had a shoe goo island conected only to the outside of the shoe.

I just fixed my shoes a few days ago. I am doing the layer I put a piece of paper (bro's cigarette pack) on the inside (same purpose as duct tape). then gooed it alot and shaped it. This was on my old old pair if lavers.

On my recent old pair of lavers I am doing layers. I wanted to put layers of rubber in between, but instead I think I'm going to use those anti-slip pads that you put on dress shoes and can buy at the supermarket. Maybe in layers or just at the end. or not at all if they suck.

I think that i should have put them over my other fix, cuz the shoe goo on the periphery is starting to come off a bit, and that might lead to something.

I just got new lavs though :).
