Compulsive Modified Checkers
I dont know about you, but when I get bored (and I "can't" footbag), I check this board with great frequency, sometimes bordering on lunacy. Today, I have viewed all of the updates, and there is nothing else to view, so again I am bored. Thus, I am making this thread so that, when all threads have been viewed, this may be used as a last resort. Post here when you're extremely bored, when you have checked everything and there's nothing else to check, or if you simply want to confess that you're a compulsive modified reader (i.e., > 8x per day).

I think I check modified the most of anyone in the world.
I would believe it if that were true.
I have ALOT of free time and modified is basically always on my desktop and I keep hitting "View posts since last visit" obsessively.
Alllllll day long.
This is what I do.

hate is a waste of passion!
My name is Nic Bathgate and I am addicted to modifed.
I am surposed to be meeting my friend at the top of my drive in 3 minutes and I am not even ready, yet I am sitting here posting.
When I have an essay to do I check modified somewhere between every 2 words and every paragraph. Sometimes this gets up to 30 checks a day!
I need phyciatric help.

Ya same here. I am not satisfied unless I have checked every new post. I will also refresh the main page about 20 times to see if someone has posted or if someone I know is online.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

I tend to be on the internet for hours at a time. And the whole time I really just cycle between chatting with my friends on AIM and refreshing Modified and my LiveJournal friends page.
So yeah, I read pretty much everything. There's just nothing to post that wouldn't already be beating THE dead horse.

When you click on the "new posts" or update or whatever, does it also show you posts which have been edited? I`ve never used those buttons, I kinda wonder.
For examples:
Way back, Laroche posted that he had hit pdx swifter, and I wrote in response: "big props!" or something like that. Then, several months later, a vid came out of Montreal where Eli hits pdx swifter. Somebody pointed out that Laroche had hit it earlier, and Laroche posted: "yeah, actually I just footed it. I never really hit it and sealed it." So I went through the trouble of going back to the original thread, and editing my post so it read: "Big props to Eli 3 months in the future!" I wonder if anybody noticed that... considering it was an edited post, and not a new post. I also do that with my blog sometimes, where I go back and edit older entries because I remember things I forgot to include initially.

Edits don't show up as new posts, sadly (less to read for those of us that are addicted). I check modified from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM at work, mostly reading footblogs (so far I've read Mosher's, Lon's, and now I'm on Ken's... by "read" I mean EVERYTHING). I sometimes get behind on reading people's footblog entries, simply because there are so many people posting there. But everything else on the forum I read.
Let's play a game here for the "addicted" readers. I don't know what, someone else propose something. But something that would make it so everyone could post something whenever they were on modified alone.
Something like the EXPERIMENT thread (which died! Let's bring it back!) but for addicted posters.

I check modified for updates every 30 minutes now, I've got 13 days left to my contract in Gabon and I finished all of my work, I got nothing to do besides
- Looking at modified
- Thinking about new moves I could try
- Looking at the girls from the balconny
- Going see my friend at is job next door
- Looking at modified
Now I'm getting used to this, and once I get back in Canada I'm worried I stay addicted to modified

Well, since neither Chan, Matt, MegaX, or Sam have posted yet, I have the honor of being the one of us stuck on here the longest...addicted.
I used to have a ratio of over 40 posts per day...and although I made something like 5 posts in a dark period of about 8 months, my ratio is still at over 2 posts per day (which is every day since Jan 03). I have over 2% of the total posts on the board, and thats without getting into kicking circle or discussion threads since last summer. I have 5 local blogs to refresh and check constantly, videos to load, comments to view, newbs to give tips too, x dex to debate, olympics to promote, and my own game to fully document via blog....
How am I ever supposed to get anything done?? I think all of us should log into chat now more often from now on and see if all the rest of us addicts are there.
And, a tribute to the former addicts, how we miss you...

Oh, and I realize big dirty has actually been on here longer than me, though back in my day I still think I posted a bunch more.
Long live the footbag forum junkies
Peace,

Haha, that still makes me older than you!!! Nah nah nah nah nah. Hahahaha (course you could shred circles round me). Remember, I was on the original Voy forum with Erik and Cole and Mike Wilson! Fun times indeed.FootbagginBum wrote:Well, since neither Chan, Matt, MegaX, or Sam have posted yet, I have the honor of being the one of us stuck on here the longest...addicted.

Lately I've been checking modified more than playing footbag (
) because:
- it's been raining or too windy
- my summer job includes lots of hard work like shoveling so I'm pretty tired after work
On the other hand; every time I check out footbag sites like modified and see what the others have been hitting I feel addiction to footbag itself and wanna go out to shred.
Like right now (I think I'll have my second session today tonight)...
One reason why modified is my favorite forum is that there are no spammers here. I mean it! Very rarely I see anything totally unnecessary (except my own posts
) posted here and this is a 1334-member forum. I don't think that a post like "PROPS!!!" is unnecessary, IMO those sick tricks and links there absolutely deserve 'em.
