stories of promoting footbag

good or bad i want to hear about how you teaching someone to freestyle went.

Right now i been shredding at a local skate park. Zeke fronted me bags to sell. so 3 kids have sand bags and are learning tricks. A stranger took the time to teach me shred i would like to return the favor.

One kid has a ton of potential he learned mirage within days without lavers!!.

I'm playing on the streets of Libreville in Gabon.. There are absolutely no footbag players here! So the kids are all amazed by the cool things we can do with a small soccer-like ball.. Since they all love soccer they are really interested and a lot of them want to try.. I brought a ton of crochet bags here and I gave them all away already.. Some kids learned to do ATW within a few tries! really awesome.. so much potential, soccer (or football for them) is the only sport they practice and it seems to be a big boost.

Of course some of the kids try to pick on me for beeing white and doing something that impress them, but I don't let that go to me.. for each kid trying to piss me off, there are maybe 5 wanting to give it a try, or 20 telling me how cool this sport is!

today i skipped pre-calc and was kicking in one of the bathrooms in my school...guys are always coming in, and a lot of time they hop in with me, and i do my best to impress them and give em a bit of information, if they are interested. had about 4 people hop in at different times today.

That's a fucking awesome story!! Huge props for that - inspiring stuff. I'm going to head down to the local market in a few hours and have a bit of a kick - should be lots of fun - it's a very big market so lots of people will come and join in. I really want to make some fliers some time soon to give out to people.

Yeah it's really inspiring even for me while playing.. the only downside is that it's so hot here, around 33 degrees celcius.. and since I'm playing alone, I become a pile of sweat!

Now when I take walks theres always someone saying "hey cousin! I saw you with that small ball near Taty's"

It's really cool to see that many people interested about the sport, even if they dont play it, they love it, and I think that's where it all starts!

speaking of soccer being in america where soccer is like a foreign word i get this question all the time.

Do you play soccer alot or something?

A big missconception in footbag is that i wont ever be able to do that. OR they all go wow you must have been doing this for a long long time and my awnser is no not really.

I think a big handicap of taking the next step is shoe quality. I mean if some kid gets interested in skateboarding he can buy a cheap board from walmart for 10-20 bucks. Now paying 50 bucks for lavers and 6-30 bucks on a bag isnt expensive but its also not cheap if its something your not sure your going to go into.

I fell in love the first time i saw shred. But im sure its not like that for everyone and if it wasnt like that maybe i would still be on the fence doing jesters and shitty looking toe stalls.

And I go back on Tuesday for the real deal

I've taught two kids to Montage in under 1.5 years, and 2 to double atw in the first two months. Countless other success story's, and a lot of wasted time on potheadsa as well.

It was just friday, it was a really quick clip, I haven't seen it, it was on screen during the run itself, I hope someone has tivo and got it, and I hope someone will be recording for me to capture the second part.

I thought this was a great thread for announcing that, but do you think it's momentus enough to make my own thread? I really would like people to know and be watching out... I don't want to sound to braggy about it...but it definitely seems like more than a big deal to me....

Ha! Dude I've been playing for 4 YEARS and my flipside clipper STILL sucks. Talk about depressing! But it's fun to hit cool stuff at your own pace, and generally everyone on this forum respects that.

I guees it all depends how much you put into it and where you put your effort

I personally am putting a shit load of effort into training and practicing footbag. i have a higher goal than learning tricks, im like 30 lbs over weight. So ive been told im learning pretty fast but thats because of the amount of time i put into it.

IF you are putting a ton of time into footbag and not seeing results you should just consult with someone on what you may be doing wrong.

Do it twice on your weak side once on your strong side everyday. do everything and drill hard. The more your body repeats the same activity the more natural it will become.

I too got frustrated with clippers i spent an entire week practicing clipers on average 1-2 hours a day and i saw very little progress. Then i simply saw how my more experienced freinds were doing them in person and saw what i was doing wrong. now im starting to set strong, starting to be able to go left right left right and learning stepping.

i guess in short if you dont think your getting back what your putting in, it may be a simple adjustment like in my situation the reason why i was doing clippers so poorly i was simply doing it to fast, i wasnt doing a slight pause to actually gain control and set nicely. it was an easy adjustment and now im pretty satisfied with the results

Are there any other players than you in Elva? Are there any in Tartu? Why I'm asking these questions is that the best thing you can have in footbag is other shredder. I really mean it (I play alone and shredded on/off for over a year and a half before I played with company), because shredding with other people live has made improve the most.
So if there are no one else in Elva or in Tartu, you should contact the players in Tallinn (and of course, come to Helsinki in July

There are players in Elva. But one of them is my brother and it's boring to play with just 2 people and one of them is my friend who doesn't want to shred that often. And when we shred alltogether they start to do other things and say that it's too hot or something. There are no players in Tartu and Tallinn is too far.
