Month in review.

May weather sucked.

School will soon be coming to a close and it will be harder to get my 4 square fix for the week. Fortunately steps have already taken place to resolve that matter, best of all, I had little or nothing to do with it. Seems some of the kids have shown a lot of interest in coming to our jams to kick and have taken the initiative to call me to ask when and where, and bringing their friends along. They have come to the CIC b-day jam and last Sunday's session. Hopefully more and more will come to the jams.

FTB is in town for the summer and has been coming to our sessions too. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I deeply regret that our 2 clubs did not kick more often in previous years. Fun bunch of guys to kick and hang out with. Mike Strumpf seems to have finaly settled in and has shown interest in coming out and freestyling again. Greg and Jerome have come out from time to time and I really hope to see more of them at our sessions. Shawn. Jeezus. We need more people with his energy to motivate lazy people like me.

Tom is one of the few that has shred hard all year and it shows. His strings are so much longer and smoother. Kamil predictably falls for all the bait I leave him. I see less and less of Tim and Reile. It's easy for me to think the worst has happened to them cuz thats my job and thats what I'm good at. Whatever, I'll not waste more time on it. I've seen James twice this year! He says he's willing to come out to the festivals to kick. Dan just sent me some DVD's. Mostly old footage that never got used and some footage that probably shouldn't  I got BALLZ now!

So I've finaly come to terms with the fact that I'm just about done with freestyle. Done with my own game. That's not to say, however, that I will stop spreading the word. Afterall, I've still got the club's well being to look after... my baby  . Now to my latest addiction, 4 square. I cannot get enough. In fact I get so fixed on it at Lane that I forget to try and kick with the other circles. I've gotten the chance to try out a bunch of new rules... gotta think of more... more 4 square

I bought a lot of bags this month. Both sandbags and 32's. I really like the facile Mr's and I cant wait to order the next batch with the CIC logo on them!!!!! There's a possibility that I could get some characters printed on some bags. Speaking of which, I need to sell this current bunch of sandbags so I can get some money to print up some shirts. I got some surprizes for certain people...

Next Months goals.
-set up/promote jams earlier
-be on time to jams
-bring more kickers to sessions (contact info from Lane and Devry)
-have enough stock for festivals
-get the shirts done
-jog/exercise more
-redo those goddamned flyers

It's late and I'll edit typos tomorrow night. Laterz

Hey Zeke. Yeah it's too bad FTB and CIC haven't had more sessions together in the last few years. But still, you guys definitely left your mark on us. I'd say that way back in the day it was your club that really motivated us all to get better.

Reid told me that a few years ago, before I even started kicking, that Reile and Dan came all the way out to Highland Park just to kick with Reid and Cory who could barely even hack. That was pretty cool. Perfect example of how awesome the CIC is.

Anyways, I'm gonna try to make it out to Chicago to shred with you guys a bunch this summer, so keep me updated. I'll see ya this Sunday at Southside Freestyle Day. Later

Last Sunday was sooo much fun. I got to throw a disc around, play a lot of 4 square, hack and freesty- uuuuhh... play a lot of 4 square. We bust out all our unique bags too. I brought out my takraw and my chainmail bag, Kamil brang his HUGE crocheted bag and Tom had his shuttlecock kicker.

I'm so happy it didn't rain heavily on us like the day before. I still kicked after the rain stopped (even freestyled). That Saturday I played about 5 hours of footbag with some of the Lane kids, fun session. What a great weekend!

They came in, the shirts came in!!!!!!!

The print of my art came out better than I'd hoped. The colors are bright, and the lines are crisp. Whoohoo!!!!!!! I can't wait to get some of the other charicatures printed out.

You don't have to be a member... if you want, I can get another one printed and you can pick it up when you get into town. I'll charge you only the cost of making the shirt. I can also change the front image to an individual charicature (pick from any of da' guys excluding James, Dan and Keaton) with the club logo in a subdued gray in the backround. It will look similar to the wallpaper designs below. The placement of the figure will vary depending on who you pick and the entire logo will show.

I only got 3.5 hours of sleep last night. I got called into work at 9:30 this morning because the Dr. has to see 3 emergency patients. Fortunately I do not have to help with any of the procedures but I've been running around getting misplaced instruments and dealing with patients and phone calls with people that have been less than cooperative. I'm barely awake right now. So far I really fucking hate today. I want to kick later today at Lane because it'll be the last chance to play there before school ends but I'm so tired and volatile right now... ugh, I want to sleep... but i feel like it would be an absolutely wasted day of my life if I just slept in. I'm ssooo sleepy right now. Sleepy but agitated. What a horrible combination.

Hey Zeke I read your blog from beginning to end and your stories and humor and everything is awesome. I've ALWAYS wanted to kick with CIC. And now that I've seen your picture, I know it's YOU that hit this phat combo in one of my shred videos that I have (Next Level I think). Anyways, cheers. I'm gonna keep reading so you better keep posting!

Thanks for reading guys. I appreciate the feedback. I wonder, though, what combo were you were thinking of... my name and 'phat combo' aren't usually associated with each other

Played some great 4 square at Lane on the last day of school. I got to test out my "Roulette" rule and it worked out better than I had expected. I also put up another Revolution Sandblade as a prize for the winner. In roullete, each square has a specific rule attatched to it. The square that a player is eliminated fom determines the next round's rule. For example, square 3 is assigned Spikes Allowed for Lowest Score. If a player is eliminated from square 3, then the player or players with lowest score are allowed to spike for the next round.

This was so much fun to play. I did not play for any points (cuz I would win my own sandbag 8O   ) but did my best to eliminate all the high scorers. Man, I got my ass whooped. I think I would have only gotten 4-5 points anyway. Lots of great plays and saves, as usual. On game point the line of players waiting surrounded the court to try and help eliminate Martin. Didn't matter. Martin still won and got another bag from me.

After a few players left and the rest of us took a break we played a final game with a new rule one of the kids had made up, No Emotional Outbursts. If you laughed, showed anger, frustration or what have you, you were out. This lead to the most hilarious game I've ever played. I'm not just talking about one or two funny moments... I'm literally saying the the entire game was total, non stop comedy. We sounded like Mr. Freeze from the Batman animated series with a little mix of the Mooninites from Aqua Teen Hunger Force taunting and trying our best to provoke the others into losing their composure and getting out. What complicated matters was that we were trying not to laugh. As we all know that just makes things funnier. There would be rounds of us just saying absolute nonsense then laughing for 5 minutes straight. We didn't even finish the game, we were so exhausted from the laughter that we just had to quit. We just could not take it anymore.

I can't wait to try that rule again. Good Times.

Zeke- you are the best, seriously. Thank you so much for the presents!!! They were so nice.

Edit: The Roulette rule sounds like a ton of fun, thanks for the idea.

This is my list of contacts for local jams and events. I try to e-mail the majority of them several days in advance to notify where and when we are kicking. Then there are a few that I can only reach by phone. I prefer to know who's going in case there's a change in plans so I know exactly who to call back. Things don't alwayswork out that way though.

There are almost 30 people that I can contact localy to ask if they can come out and play. I think we average 10 kickers the last 4-5 sessions which is about double the size of last year. I'm very pleased to see our sessions growing but I think we can still have more people come out regularly.

ramblings of a madman

It's hard trying to be nice all the time. I find it much easier to be a prick and just let my hate go. I really can't understand how some people can just turn the other proverbial cheek or deal with their problems rationaly. Then again some people don't have my temper. I'm so quick to lose it sometimes that it scares me. Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough...

maybe I just don't give a damn

no, that can't be it.

Maybe its EVERYONE ELSE'S fault!

maybe not

no, I must be doing something wrong...
