Ontario in July

Post by Colin »

Hello there Ontarians. I'm going to be in Kingston for the CUMC this July, and I'm definately up for lots of footbag.

I'll be in Kingston from the 13th to the 17th, but there's also a chance I could spend the 17th in Toronto if there are available kickers.

Lemme know.

Well I'm in Toronto so I'm totally down, and there are a shitload of other Toronto shredders that would definitely play too.

Maybe I'll even come to Kingston, though I'm not sure cuz there are some crazy weekends coming up... We'll see...

Tom, you're breaking my heart! You'd better have the best time of your life in Europe!

I'd like to shred with as many people as I possibly can when I'm up. Like I said, I'm getting into Toronto pretty early on the 13th, and the tentative plan is to go to Kingston on a bus that day. A few nights in Kingston, hopefully meet and play all the baggers in town other than Tom, and anyone else who'd be nice enough to show up.

My flight home is on the 17th, which is a Sunday, relatively late at night. Maybe 10pm or something? I think my plan is to get a bus from Kingston early on the 17th, and have the day in Toronto. A friend of mine is talking about going to a ball game, but I'd be damn happy to skip that if I could meet and shred with some more people. Could you make it into Toronto on the 17th, Johnny?

One month away now, yay. I haven't played footbag in a shred circle for like two years, I can't wait.

Yo, there are a LOT of shredders in Toronto now. Like 15 people. If you wanna spend more than 1 day here to get in more than 1 session, you can definitely crash at one of our places. Johnny comes down all the time, and I'd bet that others from Brantford and Guelph can make it out too.

I'm lookin forward to this! It's great that us non-worlds-attendees will have something fun to do!!! :D

Huzzah! Camille, spending more than a day in TO sounds good to me. Anyone want to volunteer a place for me to crash for the night of the 16th?

Are any of you familiar with the travel that I'll be doing? What's the best way for me to get to Kingston and back from Toronto? I'm looking at Coach Canada and Via Rail. Looks like I can get back and forth on Via for about 85 bucks, with around 2.5 hours travel ech way, while it seems to be a bit more expensive and a bit slower on the bus. Train seems to be the way to go, the only problem is getting from the airport to the train station on the 13th. I can't remember the last time I was on a train.

Still haven't got my accomodations figured out for Kingston, I need to get on that. If anyone's desperate for a houseguest for a few nights, I'd be happy to help out :).

Hey Colin, what time will you be here on the 16th? Andrew's sister is going away for school so he and I have to spend the day with his family. If you wanna meet up with shredders on the 16th, I can arrange it for you, and then we can all just meet up later to party, chill, and crash. There will (for sure) be shredding all day downtown on the 17th. I'm workin on getting crashing space for you for the 16th. Does anyone else need to crash?

And as for getting from the airport to Kingston, since the train is cheaper and faster, obviously take that. Trains are more fun too. So you'll need to get from Pearson Airport to Union Train Station (in downtown Toronto):

From Pearson Airport (Terminals 2 & 1) Bus Stop, you can take the GO Transit bus. It is $3.80 for your ride and you will have to buy your ticket at the airport bus stop; they don't accept cash on the bus. Take that bus to the Yorkdale Bus Terminal. From there get into the TTC station (should be connected) and then take the TTC Subway ($2.50) south to Union.

It's a lot of transfers but your only other option is to take a cab all the way from the airport to Union 8O... that's pricey though, it's at least a half an hour drive. When you're at the airport bus stop you should check if there is a bus that goes directly to Union Station from there. I found the fare for that trip ($4.65) but no schedule, and I tried calling but was on hold for like 10 minutes and no one answered. :? Try the website: www.gotransit.com, and try calling them too, I guess. There damn well SHOULD be a bus that goes from the airport to Union, it boggles my mind if there isn't.

And then from Union Station, whichever way you get there, just take the VIA Rail train to Kingston.

I hope that helps.

And you might want to PM some of the Kingston shredders about crashing space if they haven't responded to you yet. Good Luck!

It's gonna be awesome meeting you! :D

Dang. Sorry that I won't have a chance to meet you, Owen.

As for the rest of you... I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 5am, will arrive in Kingston sometime late in the morning or early in the afternoon. I should be getting in touch with some Kingston players tomorrow - if I don't, assume my plane/train has crashed/derailed. I'll be getting to TO on the 17th at around 1 PM I think. More details on that as the time approaches.

Woooo! Footbag! Math!

The shred session will be a Yonge and Dundas Square (across from the Toronto Eaton Center) on Sunday July 17th, at 1:00 p.m.

My cell phone # is 416-602-1985 so if you can't find us when you get there (it might be crowded, shit goes down there every day) just give me a call.

I hope you make it Owen! If you drive down maybe you can carpool with other shredders that are along your way? Just a thought...

See you guys Sunday! :D

If it rains we will move it to Nathan Phillips Square at Bay and Dundas. Very short walk away, lots of shelter. We will still meet at Yonge and Dundas Square at 1 p.m.; if it's raining we will wait 20-30 minutes for everyone and then head to Nathan Phillips. If you arrive after 1:30 p.m., just go straight to Nathan Phillips Square. If for some reason you can't find us, call my cellio.

YAY It's TOMORROW! WooT! :D
