check out the "getting started" subforum and the "tricks and tips" subforum.

Also the trick list at www.footbag.org

I'm pretty sure the move you are talking about is a clipper and there are heaps of tips out there if you look for them.

Sorry I don't mean to be rude - it's 6 am and I have insomnia.

Some adice that helped me a lot was to make your legs look like a "T" and bend your support leg.

Take a small book and place it on your 'clipper' surface (inside of your foot held in a crossbody position) and practice balancing like that. Move it up and down. Make sure you have the flexibility and balance before you try incorporating it into your moves.

I think one of the biggest problems with cross body is balance. Don't be afraid to throw your hands out in weird directions at first to keep your balance-- when I first learned the clipper I had to arch my support leg so much, I threw my arms out forwards to counter-balance. It looked pretty hoaxy, but within a week or two my balance improved so that I didn't have to do that anymore.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Your ankle just isn't used to bending that far in that direction. The way to resolve that is to do a deeper bend in your support leg. As in, get lower to the ground. It's a bit hard to hold that stance (hence the arm counter-balance), but it's a good way to start out with the clipper. That flexibility comes with time.

put the bag on ur clipper position and moveit up and down, knowing how to bend your ankle and leg. Then try hand setting it, then toe.

as they all said before, i am pretty sure your talking about the clipper. it can be hard when u first start out. what i did was i did an inside stall and flick it into the clipper until i got it. that way your foot is shaped in the position already. check out flipsider.com to see some good instructional videos. everything from basic kicks to advanced moves

I know that this may be the one of the worst peices of advice i think ive ever given but, the thing that helped me was shoes. I had been trying to kick in combat boots for a long time. I didn't see much diffrence in lavers and my boots but when I swiched the clipper was a thosand times easier. might be an idea.
hmm.. of course these are my opinions-likely to be just as flawed as anyone else's. um, really I guess you should assume everyone's speaking out of some external influence. Belive in whatever makes sense to you.:JTHM

I have this problem on my flipside -- my toe angles downward and the bag tends to roll off. What I try to concentrate on is bending my toe upward (when in crossbody position) and cranking my ankle to help with that. my goodside clipper is very relaxed, but I find to stall consistantly on my flip I have to really flex my ankle muscles to keep my foot in the right position -- this is the biggest factor for me; hopefully it can help you too.
I think most everything is mental, and if you find ways to overcome your issues (constantly concentrating on the things you need to do until they are engraved in your head) you will be able to learn anything much faster. Blah -- I don't think I made sense, it's late and I need to read 700 pages for class, which is in 7 hours...nevermind I have to sleep.
