too many stickies (no vid)

Does anybody else think there are way too many stickies in this subforum.

I suggest we get rid of all of them except for the "Name in Sig" and the "worlds 2005 vidoe challenge"

People can search for the others. When there is a bodacious 3 competition going on we can have a sticky for that - but I'm pretty sure the current one is over so no need for the sticky.

Thoughts? Flames?

I use the ".ORG galleries here" thread semi-regularly, but I agree with your sentiment. I don't really see why 'Name in Sig' needs to be in every forum - it's hardly an announcement anymore. Maybe just put it in the Getting Started forum and General Footbag?

As for the rest, wouldn't the purpose of most of those threads do better in a more static environment? Stuff like the DVD/VHS list should be somewhere on .ORG. The 'how to make good videos' should be on .ORG. Ect ect, including stickies from other subforums.

There are too many Stickies. Perhaps some of the better points of 'how to make a better video' could be compiled into an article for flipsider, or freedom footbags, or .org?

You can search modified for the topic that lists all the .org galleries. I mean it will still exist if it's not sticky - all those topics will. Not being sticky doesn't delete a topic. You can also use this link:

Regarding names in sigs - there are still people without their names in sigs and this is a policy the mod/admin staff strongly stand by - so I think we'd like to see that topic stay there.

ill never put my name in my sig motherphucker, if anyone sees it there - it was a mod and ill take it out - if i get banned or suspended for not doing it then ill stop posting music and videos here. have a nice day

Why the hostility man? Whats ur problem? I honestly don't see any reason not to put your name in ur sig, if someone really wanted to know who you are it wouldent be hard to find out.
Do you not what to put it in because its 'cool' to rebel agaisnst a higher power? If thats the case I suggest a big of growing up is in order.

Anyway, you can remove sick 3/trick, Ill put a new one up near the end of each month as a reminder which will be removed once entrys close for that month.

Classics, DVD/VHS list, .ORG gallerys, 'when posting vids remember too'.

I think "How to make good videos(was:best practice)" should be kept maybe, it has been really handy to me, and probably helps alot of new video makers (which is what we want).

Thats my opinion.

Well that's your decision and you are free to make it. I'm sure you're aware that this forum isn't a democracy. It has no responsibilities to it's members. We try to keep policies that keep members here and make them comfortable but we certainly don't have to be like that. I would have thought it was obvious that we've been mainly letting the absence of your name in your sig go - at least in terms of taking it up further. However you've brought it rather publically to everybodies attention and I personally feel that we would look very foolish if we didn't now follow it up and either convince you to put your name in your sig or ban you until you're willing to. There are a number of reasons why we want people to put there names in their sigs.

Basically we don't want this to be an anonymous internet forum - but rather a chance for real people to discuss footbag. Real people means that people are accountable for what they're saying - it means that we all know who everybody is - which means we have a tighter stronger community. You don't have to agree with our policies - just like you don't have to post here. We don't run the forum like a dictatorship - we are easily accessible and it's very easy to voice concerns about any policy decisions we make. We have always and will continue to listen to any problems with the forum people bring up. You have not ever done that. Instead you have chosen to continually oppose the decisions made by the moderator/administrator staff without giving any kind of reason or feedback when the decisions are talked about or at any other time. You are of course entitled to make that decision. You clearly do not want to work with the staff and would rather fight us than make any kind of attempt to improve the forum. I hope you're happy with that decision. You will, of course, face consequences from that. I wouldn't want to speculate as to what those consequences are but I'm sure you'll find out in the not too distant future.

Yeah, I agree, but I think the .org galleries should stay.
I can't memorize that link to the member galleries, plus I don't think they're even all listed there. I don't think Sam's is there, and that's the most important one @________@
I think the rest can go, though.

It would also help if people didn't post things like, "Insane trick" which contains no video only to complain about people posting "Insane trick" and posting no video.......

I agree, too many stickies, but I think the classic vids (dvd/vhs) needs to stay, for people who haven't seen it before - it doesn't get updated much but it has great information in it, I think.

I also posted this on footbag.org to cross-reference and maybe people over there will have information to add too! It is in the open discussion area because "multimedia" is described as "downloadable." Oh well!

I think the point is. If a topic isn't sticky - it is still very, very easy to search for it. If people want a list of the classic dvd/vhs vids they can ask for it and I'm sure somebody will show them the link. Same with the .org galleries. There is a good chance people would post new videos anyway - so it's unlikely anything is missed with not making that topic sticky.

There are reasons why all the topics that are sticky are sticky and I'm sure somebody will defend the reasons why every topic is sticky. That's why I think only topics that are currently relevant should be sticky - otherwise things will only get worse (because over time more topics will become sticky).

The worlds comp is happening in a 6 weeks time (approx) and as soon as it is over we can unsticky it. The name in sig topic is an announcement that will remain that way in all topics. - These are relevant topics. The rest - while defintily useful - do not need to be the first thing people read when they come to this topic. I'm sure most of us don't ever read them anymore anyway. (you don't need to post that you do read them - I'm sure a small percentage of people do)

Could we have a sticky topic on how to use the search funtion? I have seriously never once successfully searched for a single topic on Modified, ever.
