I'm glad you're not too put off by us messing with your blog. You could still edit in your first post... or just put it here. You're going to want to say it all in here sometime. Might as well say it sooner than later, right?
CIC flurry wrote:Anywhoo, Emily, you're talking about the movie being a horror movie, right? The hotdogs were good I hope. I hoped it was a good party :? .
Well, I didn't personally care for the movie. Remember how I was such a wuss that I spent almost the entire time in your kitchen? It was only a bad movie to me because I can't do scary movies. But you have a nice kitchen, Tom. That party was really fun, and the hotdogs were so good. And good donuts too? Yes. :)

Best event EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude that last game you won was probably one of the most awesome 4 square I think I have ever seen. SOOOOOOOOO many times you could have taken the cheap or easy way out but you played fair even after you were voted out time after time after reaching game point. That fact that you won that game when EVERYBODY and their mother were gunning for you was just fantastic. Great game.

So I may as well talk about my freestyle game as of late.

I try to play every day now (for the past few weeks). Some weeks are good, and some not. I average a few sessions a week though.

Kamil and I were playing often a few weeks ago. The last week or two I have playing by myself.

And man, I must say, playing by yourself is so helpful. I come to the realization that I've wasted years of progress by not playing by myself more often. Just trying the same move over and over again. A few days later and you can do it. I was schooling flip swirls, and thought they would never improve. I noticed how to improve my technique in each practice session, but I only felt a little progess during each respective session. After a few days though...it's so much better! Than I remember the art of practicing moves.

I hadn't practiced a move I couldn't almost do for a long while. I love that they get better, and somtimes you don't even notice.

this post is getting too long.

I have been schooling flip swirls, flip barrages, and flip double over downs. I was doing 10 each session, but now I'm doing 20. And 3 blurry whirls each side. I figured I should try some combos too.

1-2 weeks ago I did this combo:
pixie same side mirage > atom smasher > eggbeater.
I could hit 2 of the three on my other side.

2 days ago:
pixie op clip > reverse swirling op toe pickup.
pixixe same clip (no plant) > reverse swirling op toe pickup.

yesterday:
pixie same side clip > far swirl

I was also trying this gyro pincher which was fun.

Lately I've been wanting to do more flyers...Eric Wulff style.

Helped my brother with his car today. He put on a new carb, and it's a little weird. By the time I started kicking it was getting dark.

I practiced barraging set for the second time (first time about a month ago). It went really well. I think I actually cleared both dexes a few times.

I also did 3 strong swirls in a row for the first time (without pausing).

What I learned:
Just like DODs instead of think of 2 dexes I think of just circling the bag once. It kept hitting my foot on the scond dex, and I think I need to set higher.

Then I barraged the footbag right into the sewer! :( Luckily my brother has a big crowbar and we lifted the cover and I got it out. It was sitting on some leaves, so it didn't sink thankfully. And for some reason all my neighbors walk out at that time and see me diggin in the sewer. Oh well, I saved it.

I'm chattin with 3 freestylers now, so I'm ups.

You may think you're safe... that I've forgotten or that I've forgiven. You may think that because we still have friendly conversations and I laugh at your jokes that all is well in the world and there is nothing to fear.

You're wrong.

There is always something to fear. I don't forget and I sure as hell don't forgive. But for now you can go on thinking that everything is ok. I'll let you believe that there will be no consequences for your actions or you can keep decieving yourself into thinking that you have done no wrong and you are not at fault for anything. I promise you though...

But for now... sleep soundly, we both know it's something you do well.

Jam on Thursday i was really looking forward to. I just finished this sleep study and my sleep schedule is all wacked. I woke up early even though I couldn't fall asleep till 3 or 4 at night. I kept busy, washed some clothes (had no clean kicking shorts). Afternoon came and my mind lied to me saying that I could lay down relax and not fall asleep.

So I fell asleep...and woke up at 3:30pm. The jam started at 3!! So I figure that it kinda sucks. Zeke calls me a few minutes later. I tried to bluff that I had a new cell phone that used my house number, and that I was on my way, but Zeke wasn't buying it. He tells me that not only did I "Dan*" him, but everyone else "Danned" him too! He is there by himself while all us other bastards are sleeping, or god knows what. I threw on some swimming trunks (since I didn't dry my kicking shorts) and headed out there. That was mad of me.

It turned out pretty sweet. Four of us laggers finally came out 1-2 hours late. We kicked with 2 random guys (separately) who both said, "That is the most amazing footbag I've ever seen," or something to that affect. Seriously, they said almost exactly the same thing. We played some frisbee, and some takraw too!

*Dan would always be there on time and we'd always be late.

Generally I feel like I have lots of potential for anything I put my mind to. The idea that I can't do something, that it's too hard for me, that I could never attain a certain level, is simply foreign to me. i always have the mindset that with enough dedication I can achieve anything.

So it kinda sucks when you have a glimmer of a thought that tells you that maybe you can't. Maybe you can try all you want and still not be the best. I thought that a bit in relation to footbag recently...

...But then I had a kick ass session today!
Blenders were so fuckin easy - both sides. I was just going faster. I usually try to whirl them and do osis, but today I was just blending those bitches out of mid air with no good set.

I continued on schooling my flipside barrages, swirls and DODs. And I did my good side too. I did 10x each and 3x blurry whirl both sides. Breezed right through barrages and DODs.
I schooled barraging set and kinda got the set a few times, but not high enough to do anything out of. I hit a toe set swirling set (thought of fusing), but nothing out of it. I tried flip ripped warrior a lil, but no luck. Came real close to ripstein just messin around a few times. I did Zooming mirage both sides!

I thought of a few new combos:
~Pixie same clipper (all in one) > swirl > drifter > far swirl ( I hit the first three)
~Double pickup (from clip) > toe set swirl (hit it!)
~flipside Pixie same clipper (all in one) > swirl (hit a bunch of times)

Zeke told me about how Dan used to practice: he would work 3 move combos then throw em into runs - good idea.

Random
I thought for a while that Jeremy O'Wheel's avatar was a guy striking a dancing pose and biting his lip to make him look sexy.

Sam Colclough once told me: "You should play for 30 minutes a day; everyone has 30 minutes." That is a great philosophy, and I often think about it.

Try being on time for every club session for a month. I thought about offering you a footbag from your choice of stitcher if by some miracle that you do accomplish it... but punctuality is it's own reward.

Starting 2 days ago, I started putting my hair samurai style again. It definitely helps keep that damn baby hair outta my face. You know: The hair in the front and sides of your head that wants a chance at life but fails to grow full length. I use 2 hair ties now, so I don't have to keep putting it up when it falls (which happened more often with samurai style).

20 swirls BS
10 barrage>DOD>barrage>DOD (with drops)*
10 whirls BS (with drops)**
5 atom smashers BS
2 smear>pixie same mirage>smear>pixie same mirage BS
3 Blurry Whirls BS

* John asked me to hit this, so I think I'll school those moves in this order now, so eventually I can combo them.
** I think I hit like 12 whirls in a row good side but i wasn't counting cuz I was preared to only do 10 (with drops). All moves after this is with drops (aka: not in a row).

I started kicking in the back driveway, cuz in the front I see ants, and I don't wanna kill em. I saw some in the back driveway yesterday, but I blew them outta the way, so I wouldn't step on them.

On saturday, my sweet sweet Abshire bag blew a stitch :!: Zeke glued it with this awesome shit and it was good as new - couldn't find the tear. I washed it after next day's session then kicked with it and it broke open again. I don't know if it's from the wash or what not or even if it's the same stitch, but I think we'll try to fix it again, and then I won't wash it again.

I keep schooling swirls, but not ripsteins. Tim and I are having a race to ripstein. I think I will start trying it soon. I can get really close, and I'm sure this swirl training's gonna help.

I talked (IM) to this freestyler from Poland the other day - Jajoo. The internet is so cool.

Jeremy Mirken isn't coming to Taste :( , but maybe next month. This "event" wasn't supposed to be very formal, but I hoped it was a bit more organized. Late notice I suppose.

Didn't play today - Zeke, Reile and I watched Batman at the IMAX. Tomorrow I will go to the record release party with Billy Corgan at the Adler Planetarium.

Zeke, Reile and I watched Batman at the IMAX.
I love this movie!!!!!! But it's Rant time!

Advisory: This rant contains strong, offensive language. If you are the 3 people left on the forum that still believe I am a nice person and choose to continue to believe this lie please do not read any further. I should also stress that my views and opinions are not shared or condoned by the rest of the Chicago Inner Circle, other members of this forum, it's affiliates, and people whose names start with a vowel.

OK, so the family seated directly behind us did pretty much EVERYTHING you should not do at a movie theater. First they brought their very talkative little child with them. He would not shut up for the first hour of the movie. Eventualy he was quiet... someone must have hit him with with a large guage tranquilizer dart or something. Next, the mom leaves her cell phone on and lets the muther fucker ring 3 times before she answers it. Three times! THREE!!!! She then proceeds to talk to the fucking bastard for a few minutes. Then there's daddy. This scabby fuckhole kicked the back of my chair several times then would not shut up for the last five minutes of the movie. People... I did not pay X amount of dollars to have you act like you're watching TV at home. Your parents should have beat some manners into you with something heavy, pointed and rusty!!!!!!

The movie was so outstanding that I didn't realize these people got on my nerves until we left. What a great movie, though.

zeke from this day on you will tell tom every shred event starts an hour earlier than you tell everyone else.

it will level off perfectly.

Zeke your story about the people in the theatre doesnt make you mean and im gonna go ahead and assume what you said speaks for FUCKING EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD WHO WAS TAUGHT MANNERS!!!!!

I have done much much worse than complain after the fact. I had that situation happen and i blew a fucking gasket yelled out SHUT THE FUCK UP.

When that didnt work i became that guy. that person every employee hates. the guy who is screaming at something that i cant control i didnt care i was mad and wanted to give this manager a peace of my mind.

it went something like this.

(very loud angry voice in public) "Why the fuck did i come to this theatre, This happens every god dam time i come here and it will be the last. I should just pay 3 dollars to rent the movie and watch it with respectfull people who shut the fuck up. Another good thing about renting is if i wanna watch a rated R war movie at 11 Pm i dont think i will hear babies crying throughout 75 percent of the film. Now i want you to tell me why i should ever come back here to pay 20 bucks for me and my girlfreind to here shauqita on her cell phone and to pick words of dialoge out of the screams of a new born baby crying because of the loud gun shots and the screams of dying actors in a rated R movie. Lucky for you, people are dumb enough to keep coming to these shitty movies full of ignorate fucks at really expensive prices, so i guess im wasting my breath.

it was a waste of breath but it felt really really good. i got free movie tickets and an apology and am now to this day still on a movie theatre boycot. That was the movie last samurai wich is over a year old.

BOYCOT the theatres

unless your freind can get you in for free

Hey Tom we should (try and) play tomorrow at Grant Park. One of the DJ's is gonna be good. Dj Mike Dearborn, I'll call ya or something. If I steal some money, then I'll try and buy a knee brace/sleeve today/tomorrow.
