This Forum and the mods that run it
Damn,
Brad had to go and put my name in my title. That really makes me mad. Brad, I hate the way you have modded in the past but I actually got over it, until now. I'm not gonna make any stupid threats or anything, but if you ever meet me in person, just know that I will remember the way are. If anyone actually cares about the videos that I make, or the things that I say, then help me convince brad to change my title back to what it was. If it's not changed back, I don't know what I can do, but I will do something.
Jeremy says this forum isnt a Democracy, well, wtf is that? Looks like you're trying to be a fake American democrazy. You guys hate against Bush, yet you act like him. You say I MUST have my name in my sig or whatever. Well, I Don't Want to. I live on the internet to have a different name. Obviously I'm not ashamed of my name. Even when I made the crazy Lord Kingdom Ultimate post and the executioner said if I had any balls I would say my real name, I said it. I really really hate you mods. Damn, I wanna talk so much ISH and call you so many names. I feel powerless and crappy.

Everybody look at this - it's a great demonstrate on how to make people do something you want them to do. Insult them - it works every time...
Isn't it about time you grew up Sam? You're not going to achieve anything with your aggressive insulting posts. Take a chill pill and try to make mature posts telling us what you want. There is no possible way that you will get your name removed from your status by posts like the above one. You have more chance of convincing me that I am like George Bush.
This forum is nothing like a democracy - to make that clear - we don't vote on any policy issues. It's nothing like an "American democrazy" or even like a "Zimbabwean Mockracy" - You want to compare it with a political system - maybe you could call it a dictatorship - I'm sure that's what you're trying to say - but it's a dictatorship with respected and experienced people controlling it - and we do listen and react to all criticism. Without people posting on this forum it wouldn't exist - so if we want the forum to exist we have to do what the majority of people want. I can only think of 2 people on the forum who are directly opposed to the name in sig policy. One of those people reacted to it by giving a very mature and diplomatic responce to why they didn't want their name on the forum. We appreciated that and we haven't forced them to put their name in their sig. The same goes for everybody - if you are opposed to the rule and you are mature about letting us know - that's fine. The other person who directly opposed the rule is you Sam.
How did you react? Well you posted an abusive message saying "ill never put my name in my sig motherphucker" - We take action because we're not going to put up with that and you react with more abuse. You say you feel "powerless and crappy" - you have the power - this whole thing happened because of you. The topic you started this in had nothing to do with names in sigs and we weren't discussing it. Had you not brought up the issue and been abusive about it none of this would have happened. You made a choice and what you're now seeing is the consequences of that choice. All your choices have consequences and you have learn to think about them before shooting your mouth off. You still have the power - you can choose how to react from here - and be assured your reaction will bring about consequences whatever that reaction is.
Let me put this out for everybody else: Do you think the mods are doing a good job? Why or why not?

Hey, let's stop fighting, it's stupid. Sam makes great videos, and usually has awesome posts, we don't want to lose him! Sam, might I suggest that you just PM one of the mods or admins and explain that you don't want your name in your sig because of privacy issues, or something to that effect? If you did that it would all go away.
Jeremy, I think the mods do a fine job. I feel like posters on modified that show that they have something to contribute to the community don't step on the mods' toes, and therefore don't have any problems with the current administration.
Just my two cents.

Basically I started a topic complaining that there were too many sticky topics in the video section. Somebody mention that the "name in sig" topic shouldn't be sticky in virtually every subforum. I said that it would probably stay like that because it's a strong part of forum policy. Sam responded by calling me a "motherphucker" and saying he would never put his name in his sig. Mike Hansen then changed Sam's status so that it said "aka Sam Coclough" - something Sam resented.
I think Sam is also pissed off with me in particular because I suggested in the moderator forum that if he didn't start following the rules or gave good reasons why he shouldn't have to we would be forced to ban him and this was badly (at least in my opinion) relayed to Sam as Jeremy want's to permantly ban you. I also commented in that forum that I thought Sam often posts a lot of shit - something that I stand by although I would have prefered it if he hadn't have found out about that.
What this really is about - at least from my point of view is Sam's inappropriate reactions - which are incredibly dramatic for any issue that seems so trivial - especially since a number of the Mods/admins have made attempts to tell Sam that if he gives a reasoned and mature responce to why he should be allowed to not follow the rule regarding names in sigs we'll definitly consider it. Sam has responded to this by sending me two abusive pms - which certainly don't make me feel like doing him any favours.
That's about as honest and transparent of the issue as I feel I can be. I've given this issue way too much time already - I feel like our hand is being pushed by Sam in the direction he doesn't want but I can see little chance of another solution.

In my opinion names in signature is a great thing !
Moreover it is just dumb not do things due to the fact that anybody tells you to do it.
Of course it is also dumb to do something because somone advices you .
I do things because I thought about it and came to the conclusion it is the right thing to do .
Otherwise I won't put my name in sig and tell my reason the mods for example.
This anti position of you Sam doesn't make things easier for all.
You could make a topic what others think about the name in sig rule - that would be a nice evaluation for the mods/admins too.
I hope that mhansen told you before what they will do of you don't put your name in sig. Otherwise it would be inappropriate too.
Just my two cents.

To be honest there have been moments when I've regretted the modding that has gone on in the past.
However, I've never had an issue with the Mods, so I can't really comment. It's always been just a perspective thing, not an issue that needed my interference.
I do agree that everyone *should* put their name in their sig. It's the polite thing to do, just so that everyone knows who they're 'talking' to. But I don't think that it should be enforced so strongly.
I think we should all have the right to choose if we put our names in our sigs and I don't think Sam (or anyone else, for that matter) should be forced to justify why they choose not to.
I, however, choose to do so.
...for whatever reason.

You just chose me as a scapegoat because I'm Jewish, didn't you?TrueBalance wrote:Damn,

I'm glad things got worked out and you included your sig Sam.
Really though, as far as I'm concerned with that policy, if you are a high profile member of the community and everyone knows who you are anyway, I don't think it's as big a deal not to have your signature. The important thing is to let the Mods or Admins know what your real name is if we don't know already. I knew full well that Sam didn't have his name in his signature, but I didn't care because almost everyone knows who "QuantumBalance" is. If they didn't and there was some kind of problem then at least the Mods and Admins know his real name and are capable of telling people if need be.
This mostly helps to control any problems that could arise from random posting and insults from newer members to the forum or even older members who get a hair up their butt to act like idiots... which seems to happen on occasion.
Okay, so be cool.

There should be almost no hostility here, between members, between mods, and between the mods and members.
Granted, I've not been here in roughly a year, and in that year (shit, in the last 6 months.) I've been seeing the world in a much dimmer light. I'm a member in another forum that basically gets off on calling each other names and trying to piss each other off. It's put into perspective how horrible people can be to each other.
Now this place doesn't need to be hostile between people. There are a couple things I belive. First, as a mod, you have a duty to keep this place in order. If someone is discenting (sp?), you need to address why. Next, as a community member, you have a duty to give feedback about the rule and restrictions. If you are upset about them, give a good reason why. Mods shouldn't go over the heads of those who they are watching over. Members shouldn't explode at the mods without proper reason.
Without these understandings, an online community could fall apart, or worse, get divided and get torn apart. Even between a few members it can wreak havoc and start dissolving a community.
