Yeh im not sure how much useful stuff i will really have... so far its been alot of comp footage because to me, there hasnt really been HEAPS of shredding at these tournaments? But maybe cos im not everywhere at once lol
I always seem to be at the wrong spot at the right time... at Footjam i had to leave early, before Felix and Vaska went head to head, and at GFO i was wandering around after Finals looking for people i knew (or spoke English!) whilst everyone else was apparently in the players room watching Honza and Felix go head to head! WTF?! The best footage and i miss it always
So i made it to GFO in the end. I had to spend a night in Bristol which i hadnt planned, following me missing my plane, but luckily they put me on to the next flight which was on Saturday. Evidently i made it no worries, and getting from Berlin Schoenefeld airport was quite straightforward. I got an SMS from Bjoern Siefert asking where i was, and he recommended getting off the train at Treptower Park instead of Ostkreuz, so i did. As expected i walked the WRONG direction after leaving the station, so then had to walk like an extra kilometre back before finding the right way to the YAAM.
I rocked up at YAAM and had to pay for admission, because i had missed registration and didnt have a players pass. Semi Finals were in full swing with a large crowd and just people generally everywhere. Luckily i found Lise Thygesen and she showed me where to dump my bags and stuff (the players room - with shred space, lounges, and toilets and showers!), and here i met a footbagger whose name has escaped me now (SORRY!) who gave me a beer! A good way to arrive at a tournament, however late it was.
I headed back to the comp area in my Lavers, and walked straight into Bjoern Siefert and Max Jaeger, who were shredding just outside the door. It was great to see these guys again, I find i get on really well with the Munich crew and its awesome hanging out again.
I got to shred with Bjoern this time (he was injured at Footjam), in between stopping to watch Semi Finals routines, which were well received by the crowds.
As we played various people i knew popped in an out, like Felix, Daryl, Viktor, Hania, Karim, Jason etc. After Semis finished, we went out into the stage area and played, and there was some small crowd there just chilling and watching. Played also with Wiktor from Poland and Jason Varvarro, i played ok i guess, probably the best i played at all that weekend (which wasnt much, unfortunately). Wiktor hits some dope moves like Merlin, Dollamite etc, and gave me a few tips on Paradox Whirls which led me to hit it BSOS for the first time.
There was a really cool moment when i was playing with Jason; he got the bag and said, 'Hey, watch me hit Ripped Warrior!', and he just went BAAM and hit it first try!! It was his first Ripped Warrior and we were like 'Bjoern look what you missed!' and Bjoern was like 'Yeh he tells me he will hit that move like a million times every session'.
Then me and Jason went and got some food and stuff; i had some nice potatoes with like yoghurt or something on them, it was only like 1.5 euros! We had a good chat about various stuff and how he is going back to America next month, which is sad because i wont see him again for a while i think, and he wont be going to Euros, but good for his job prospects!
This led us into the main hall for the Finals show, which was really awesome! The crowd was massive, probably bigger than Footjam, like the whole area and seating area was full. Apparently they sold 2400 tickets for the Finals night!!
The Finals were dominated by Felix and Honza who both had excellent routines and i think 2 drops each. The feeling was however that Felix was the man and this was proved later in the night at the awards presentation, when he took out Open Routines, and followed up with a beatboxing routine to wow the crowds once more.
Before this however, Jason had gone elsewhere as i stood listening to Kamileon for a few minutes (quickly got bored of that!), so i was then left alone, despite how many people were there. Turns out everyone was backstage was Felix and Honza rip it, which i was annoyed to hear. Luckily they all came down again so i was able to get into the backstage area (i needed someone with a players pass because i didnt have one!)
We got beers and chatted for a bit, then headed backstage to play some novelty hack with Hania, Verena, Gosia and Bjoern, who was a bit drunk by this stage id have to say.
After watching the awards presentation and Felix beatboxing, the Redemption Sound party started, however myself, Munich and Polish crews decided to go to the gas station for beer (that wasnt the last time that weekend either!), minus Szymon Kalwek because he was passed out from exhaustion lol
After some hijinks buying beers from the gas station and me asking for a bag for my beer (eine gute Tuete!? ) we headed back to the players room to chill and drink some beer. Hania gave me a cd of Polish hip-hop which is pretty dope (thanks heaps Hania!), but embarassingly i hadnt been able to bring an Australian hip-hop cd with me for her as yet. Next time!
After few more beers it was decided to head out, so i rolled with Felix, Ilja Mitrofanov and Lasse Salmenhaara to the gym where we had to sleep, which was about 20min walk away. We stopped at a kebab shop for some food but they were out of meat... while the other guys were busy almost being ripped off for a bowl of hot chips (5 Euros?! WTF?!), Felix was being swamped by random fans who had played with his footbags. hhahahahah 'Is one of you guys Felix Zenger?' 'Ah, yes that is me, im so famous!'
Next stop was another kebab shop which had meat, so we got kebabs (big and nice ones!) and made tidy work of them. On our way to the gym there were 2 couples fucking in the back of the same car in the street, it was weird and hilarious at the same time
Crashed out at the gym thanks to Lasse's bed-roll that he lent me and another bed mat lent to me by another shredder whose name escapes me again! (Sorry dude! thanks heaps!)

One thing from last post: When i arrived at the YAAM and took my stuff up to the players room, i passed some guy on the stairs and said 'Hey, how you doin'?' super-casual like. Only realised as i just passed this guy, that it was Honza Weber.
So after about oooooh 4 hours sleep we had to roll from the gym back to the YAAM building for the rest of the competition and shred (Sunday). Grabbed some food from out the front of the gym and met up with Munich crew again, then headed out. We werent allowed to use the players room this day but our stuff could be placed in a big shipping container to keep it somewhat safer.
Much of Sunday was spent illin' and chillin' by the River Spree. The river has a swimming pool sitting in it (it looks a bit bizarre, check Bjoerns photos for an idea) which was fairly cold but very refreshing. I hit the pool with Felix and Dexter i think, then Hania and Wiktor came in and i had a cool chat with them about Euros and stuff.
Sunday is a bit of a blur of stuff, some shred happening, some drinking happening, the usual. The atmosphere at European tournaments is just incredible, its so laid-back and the music was pumping all day and everyone just has a wicked time. Its strange having everyone like drinking what they want, smoking what they want, in public like that, because back in Aus we are constantly wary of our image before the public and also of just plain getting busted by cops
Its cool in Europe about the image thing; not that i believe that they have a bad image (of course they dont), but that they dont really have to be concerned so much about the image of footbag, because it is already so popular and accepted even by non-footbaggers. Its really an awesome thing to be a part of, even if its only for a year...
I competed in Shred30 and naturally it was a horrendous shambles, but thats cool. With any luck all video of that has been destroyed
Felix dominated again, hitting ridiculous stuff like Barroque in his 30 seconds. Once again a big crowd and cool beats were there to witness it all going down, including the Sick3 that followed after. Felix tore out some more madness to win that competition too; though i cant remember his combos completely, they involved Whirrs and Food Processors, and lots of double spinning
During the day i got to shred with Ilja, Verena, Daryl, Felix and others. Ilja must have the best style in the world i think. So smooth and with incredibly good form on just about every move i think. I didnt get to see him rip it out competely for very long, but damn he is good.
More to follow! I ran out of time on this computer. My memories are getting very hazy now, damn not having a computer all the time!

Sunday night was really cool and laid-back as usual, just watching people shred and drinking beer. I got to play with Daryl some more after we got back from a long walk to the kebab shop. We got Kebabs (you have to sit down to eat these bad boys) and then went and got some really nice cold Munich beer from this expensive cafe place. We just chilled and rapped about various stuff which was really cool, Daryl is one of my fav people to hang out with, he is stoked about footbag and has a cool energy all the time!
We had a little kick when we got back, i hit some more Symp Quantum stuff (Max Kerkhoff hit frontside Toe blur in a circle i was in earlier, and i was like WOW and he said, 'its really no harder than regular Toe Blur', and i proceeded to hit it 2nd try ) and Daryl hit some nice long runs with atomic stuff, and hit Atomic Legover flipside for the first time. He was also ridiculously close to Legbeater, he'll have that sucker very soon.
Sadly then, as the Polish crew had done earlier that evening, the Munich crew had to leave, which really sucked. Fortunately ill catch up with them in like 2 weeks time! Oh and Daryl, i have your players pass for some reason!
The rest of the night i hung out with Verena and her friend from Austria, and also Rasmus from Denmark and some other people at the YAAM, just chatting and drinking, having a laugh, its so cool at these tournaments, i just wish they didnt only last for 2 days! Eventually everyone started to head for their various sleeping spots, and so i went with Ilja and *** (OMG another name i have forgotten!! shit i am so stupid, will someone help me out here? Im reeeaally sorry about that) to Max Kerkhoff's apartment. We met Jason V., Verena, Ole Schnack etc on the way and they, like us, wanted to kick on so we thought to meet up at this club by the River. Little did we know it would take like 30 min to get to Max's joint, then we had to get all the way back, so by the time we got anywhere near the club it was like an hour later. Fortunately everyone had left that place and gone to the kebab place (same kebab we always seemed to be at! lol) to chill so we got some beer and sat for a bit.
The Jaegermeister was also flowing...Thanks Ali!
We had decided to meet up at Alexanderplatz the following day (me, Ilja, ***, Verena, her friend, Jason) but unfortunately we didnt leave Max's until about 2 hours later than our meeting time. I felt really bad about that, it was pretty harsh but i hope you guys had a really good day!
We went to see Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall, good some food and shit and generally wandered around, until we found where Uve and the other Estonian guys were at Potsdamer Platz and met them. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around all over the joint, looking for cool spots like the Berliner Dome, and also trying to find the meet spot for that evening. in the very late afternoon we found them at this massive park place where people were just sitting, drinking, smoking etc, like a big summers day time hangout. It didnt take long for a shred to break out when Matthias Schmidt put his shoes on, and soon i was in a circle with Matthias, Paul Cronjaeger and Lasse Salmenhaara. All these guys were rocking it so hard, Lasse hit Triple ATW and shit, Matthias was rocking the bothsided craziness as usual (he has great style!!) and Paul was hitting long long runs with mad tricks in the mix.
I soon decided that i wouldnt embarass myself any longer by playing so i grabbed my camera to film Felix shredding. I didnt have much shred footage at all so far on my holiday so it was good to get a long session on tape. (well, probably only 40 min or so but it wasnt bad!) I have Felix hitting like 5-6 consec Whirrs, and also Surging Gyro Mirage (ie. 2 spins) Of course when i decided it was too dark to film and switched off my camera, Felix hit one of the better runs of the evening, but he says that always happens with cameras.
The rest of the night we just sat in the grass and drank some beers, chatting and what not. Felix was beatboxing like a mad-man and talking some funny shit, and later there was some glow-hack in a circle of like 10 people! Later we all went over to Jakob's house to his living room where Fabian Kollakowski spun some DnB and soon a Pasta Party was in effect. Thanks for the great food!!
It then came time to say goodbye to everyone and head back to Max's, and the following day i packed up my shit and had to say goodbye to Berlin. Thanks to everyone who ran the tournament and made it such a cool place to be, who bought me beer and gave me food, who welcomed me to the European footbag community, who shredded with me and talked about whatever, cheers to everyone and see you in a few weeks!!

Pretty freakin quiet round here
So the last time i wrote in this blog was last year, just before arriving in Munich, which was like half way through my tour around Europe.
I dont know why i slacked off, i guess trying to keep up with my other travel blog and emails and footbag and also actually seeing some of Europe got in the way.
So i guess i could dig up this bitch and post in it again hehehe
Had a short session today, just worked on osis at first (the usual), which was average (flipside is so far behind strong, it sucks). Then on to Drifters for a bit, hit 5 consec, and did a few Pdx Drifters, focusing on flipside. Hit a nice drill: Toe Whirl>Drifter>DLO rpt
Then pixie stuff, was pretty ordinary on the pixie trick>pixie trick links, but got Magellan>Smear> Pixie Switch rpt out. (not new)
Tried Nuclear set for 10 min but its stupidly beyond my ability and all i got out of it was saw calfs from scraping my leg on them during the set
Tap>Atom>Tap>Atom again
Session ended nicely with some new tricks; VOID both sides (first one was on the 3rd attempt, felt so nice), and BEDWETTER both sides. Was quite surprised by this; id just been talking to Alex last nite about how i cant hit it. i guess flip eggbeater practice paid off and my flip stepping was a bit higher more often today. Only reason i think im not hitting Bedwetter easily is my flip pdx eggbeater, i always knock the bag down with the first eggbeating dex.
Indoor cricket tonite, hopefully i can have a repeat of last week (my first game ever hhahaha - 3 wickets!)

Shred with Dyalan and Guido, and our random special guest, Andreas from Aachen, Germany. He messaged me out of the blue yesterday saying he was in town and wanted to shred, so we sorted out a session today at North Sydney at our nice bball court spot.
Andreas has been in Oz for about a month, first in Sydney, then Melbourne, then Adelaide and now back to Sydney, possibly for up to 1 month or more. He is playing some basic tiltless game with legovers and mirages and clippers, and working some pixie sets.
I played fairly ordinarily, a couple of ok runs but nothing flash. Hit Void again. Not much to speak of.

Played again today, at Sydney Uni this time, with Dyalan, Andreas and Daniel from Canberra (CanthraxSoldier) I missed my train so i was late, and i got called in to work so i could only play 1 hour in the end. But what an hour!
I felt really strong and didnt really warm up much, but most stuff just felt on and i hit some pretty good runs. The best was over 20 contacts for sure and was pretty much all genuine except for a couple of osis and a couple of butters. Bunch of fours in there, a zooming merkon and ended on blur>dimwalk>Ps whirl>osis>drop
Opened a run with Vortex, and another with Tapping DLO.

Ended the short session pretty pleased!
