Colin wants to play tomorrow. I'm afraid it will be too hot. I know it will. i will want to be at the river drinking beer by the time it will be cool enough to shred.

I just saw the new top-secret Mike Anello video!!! Mike's going to have some serious shit to put out soon, his style was looking tight and controlled, his clippers more so than before. This video was just a preview, so it's not for public consumption, but I'm looking forward to the real deal, and also for when I can get back and he can tape us both.

I hope I can play soon... can't wait for TOFU this weekend!!! (and I guess I'm doing something the next weekend, too ;) )

sick session with the dean today

i hit a bunch of new links and a couple of flip ducking clippers

highlights

magellan>plo>magellan>pixie leg drop

ripwalk>ripwalk again

parkwalk bsos

dimwalk bsos

and then in a later session at night

diving clipper>duck clip finally!

ducking pdx mirage!!!!!

osis x3 and x4 with chris. x6 later 8O <--- this is big considering i couldnt do a flip osis until last week.

ducking osis

osis>dyno>osis>blender>dyno(almost got that flipside dyno)

BOP drill finally!

SUPER BAP DRILL I OWN YOU!!!!

as well as osis>pdx mirage rpt

i can now consistantly do at least 10 tiltless followed by a few guiltless

i have also hit 10 infinities, yes thats right 20 butt>op butt

i also hit clip>same clip>op clip x10 so theres 30 tiltless followed by 5 infinities so 40 tiltless with 10 guiltless

and my clip>same clip record is now 63 on strong side and 45 on weak.

on top of all this, my flip pixie feels great, and my flip stepping is coming along nicely.

and one more thing.... ILLUSIONS ARE AWESOME! and i can hit them now.... midstring too!

considering my shit shred with matt the other day, i feel good.

quite the trip indeed. Paul and I will see you guys there. O Canada! *salute*

Giant Killer Robots!!! I got to see them play at an event called Fly Day this spring, which is pretty much an all day hippie drink&420fest that goes on every year near Geneseo. Awesome awesome band and great to hack to... after they played the guitarist came into a hack circle I was playing in and handed out free CD's.

I had the privelige of shredding with The Amazing Paul Agostinelli today. Really solid foundation he has-- I wasn't that good for at least a year. Plus he taught me dustpan. Rock. Unfortunately I was feeling weak in general because of the backbreaking labor I did the day before. I couldn't find the strength to do nukes at all and even my basic shuffle (dimwalk, ripwalk, smear, fear, blur, legbeater, atomsmasher) was off. But I did manage to hit pdx torque>pdx torque, barfly bsos, almost mobius bsos, and some nice strings full of my power 4's and about half of my shred30 without a drop first try. My shred30 is kind of the same one I used at Worlds 04, CP, GLASS, and GRASS except it's been slowly evolving each time I compete and it's way better than before. Hopefully my nerves don't get in the way this weekend like they always have. Stage fright can be a bitch but otherwise I think I can surprise a lot of people.

Dead Man's Shoes are a bit too big. My next shoes (g-units? lavers? whichever I find first that are <$35) will have to be taken down at least half a size. But for now the power of the undead have been working in my favor. (edit: I checked my ebay/paypal history. His last name was Duckett and he lived in California. RIP and thanks for the g-units.)

No can do, I'm working all day tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't kill my back again like it did on sunday but the shovel is a merciless tool and my hands will be attached to it for the better part of tomorrow. At least the pay is good.

And mega props on the ducking pdx mirage and on the tiltless string I made up for you. Unstoppable. Hit Super BAP x a million now.

hahahaha, I must be bad luck for Chris. i can't wait to see it, I've seen it come off his foot many, many times.

I played at work for a little bit today and hit flip symp whirling swirl for the first time, very cleanly. it made me really pleased. I believe I did a little dance.

then I played for an hour and a half or so after work. nothing really amazing happened... my infinity record is now set at 126, although I may have done more the other day when i wasn't counting... I will try to break it during each session to increase my endurance. I used my James Hermey Christmas Surprise footbag, the blue and white one, and I feel that, now that I've increased it's weight to my preference of 45 grams, it is on it's way to becoming one of my choice footbags. My choicest ones are in dire need of retirement. I don't think I'll be taking either my ancient Carol or my Mirken to TOFU. They have to go into the hall of fame.

I was all messed up at a bar the other night, and my brain decided that the thing I need to help my endurance get better is for me to start running. I believe that once I get back from europe, i'll give this a try. My first sport ever, in 7th grade, was cross country running, I think I could get back into it. It's not NEARLY as much fun as footbag, though :( I just hope it helps me get better at footbag. I'd hate to think that I'd have to stop visiting the coach.

I've seen the dentist 3 times in the past week, and he's patched up 8 cavities for the price of 6 for me. A good man, I want to write a song for him. he's retiring in 2 weeks, and he's a great dentist. I'm glad I got to sneak in a few more quick visits with him to get some beyond-necessary work done... you guys should have seen the hole in my left incisor that he patched up. my teeth are now honorable once more.

I'm psyched for TOFU this weekend, I wish I wasn't having to miss day 1 :/ but I do love gigs. and i do love to make money for euro-spending. And there is a certain appeal of doing a 2-day thing instead of a 3-day thing, because I'll be fresher, longer (ugh, such a sad statement, now that I read it :( How will I survive Europe?). Me and Willie and Josiah will make the trip after my gig, and be there by the wee-est hours of Saturday, and be good and ready for shreddy on Saturday morn...

I feel you on having bad teeth matt. For some reason my teeth just aren't very strong, even though i take good care of them. I've had so many cavaties. Its not fair when you know people who brush their teeth like once a week and have never gotten a cavity, and here i am brushing them twice a day and still get them :(

TOFU is going to rock man! im pretty stoked to see you play. It will be nice to be at a two day event, we'll be much fresher...i dunno if my back and ankle can handle a 3-day event anyways. Its a bummer we'll miss the party and canada day though.

I played pretty hard yesterday, and I played crappily today. I had a hard time doing pixie ss mirages, and couldn't repeat them very well, but I got 4 and 5 on a few attempts here and there, so that's good. Gyro mirages are starting to feel a little more formulaic and repeatable, but only a little. I still drop them almost always. I couldn't hit mobius today. I just felt so weak. I set my infinity record at 173 (I just started the other day) and I hit 131 on my next try a little while later. I just want to do it to strengthen myself, I hope it works. I also hit whirling swirl BSOS a little later in the session, that was cool. super short, stupid string, though. oh well...

see some of you folks tomorrow...

Yo Eric, I didn't know Paul had a brother. That's awesome that you've started, and it's even more awesome that you've got your older brother who's a few steps ahead of you. He'll be able to offer you lots of guidance with your form and your mentality. He'll also be able to get you around to some sessions :) That's the best thing possible. Get some quality shoes (Paul can help with that, too) and some shorts and get out there, it's fun (assuming you haven't already).

Hope to see you out some time. You should definitely try to get to Funtastik, it's an incredible tournament.

Hey man, good to see that Paul has a brother. I met Paul at GRASS and it was a blast. Hopefully I'll see the NY crew at Funtastiks this year!

LEGBALL!!

TOFU was a fun time... The drive up was BRUTAL. I felt like I was going to pass out for the whole second half of it, despite red bulls, but once I got to Jared's house, i couldn't sleep! how's that for ya... I missed friday, Saturday was pretty low-key. Some cool moves were hit in competition (my favorites being barroquescrew, liquifier, spin pdx double pickup. and crossfire). I managed to hit a lowly whirlygig. Tom and I had an infinity race from the basketball hoop to a crack in the pavement about 40 yards away. I managed to win, despite a few restarts from dropping.

After a bit more hanging, we buzzed over the Seath's house, laboriously ordered pizza, and prepared joints. Mosher performed the head mod for me. he does almost all my mods for me, now that I think of it.

here is a picture of my head mod, along with Josiah's and Tom's. Willie did his when he came home from the tournament, which is kind of a shame. i wish he'd let me do it ;) anyway, picture...

Image

Then, me and tom bought beer and came back for the pizza and joints. The Coach's friend, The Guru, was there, and we hung out for most of the night. For a while, he harassed me about an outstanding debt to the Coach's representative in Rochester, but then he shifted from harrassing to encouraging, and made me feel better about it. After a few solid sessions of assbag (seated footbag), I stumbled downstairs to watch some footbag.

Watching Jorden was a religious experience. seeing what he puts himself through to hit those amazing tricks that he hits made me feel better about not being a better player. Footbag is almost entirely fun and recreation for me, even when I'm trying my hardest. I almost never kill myself over it. Jorden is on a whole other level... He hit quantum motion, quantum grifter, tapping flurry, frantic dyno, high plains b2b, and Nemesis (within five tries, amidst a billion attempts at quantum grifter). It was incredible, all caught on film. I can't wait to watch. I hope he comes to appreciate the Ilja bag I gave him as his significantly upgraded GRASS prize.

Finally, we crashed, around 4 AM or so. The next day brought a pretty sweet session at some outdoor courts. Billy Hladik's dad bought us many drinks. I was definitely glad for them, it was so hot out. Then, the Digges's, Jorden, Tom, and I buzzed back over to kingston and hung out for the night. We were playing assbag in Tom's room, and I hit this delay and sealed it:

Image

Top Shelf Outside

I was pretty proud of it, it was a suggestion from Jorden. Josiah hit xbd Top Shelf, that was pretty sweet. The next morning, we ate a huge breakfast and hit the road to drive back...

and here I am. I love tournaments with my friends, it's the best. I played with Colin the other day, and he hit his first combo (mirage> ss mirage) a few times, and I hope today he'll hit it on his other side, and maybe even B2B. That would be sweet. I used climas the other day, and I really like them, because I can play harder, longer in them. The new lacing mod is sweet. I'll have to show some of y'all at euros in a few days ;)

I played for an hour or so with colin here at the zoo. I used climas again for the whole session. I haven't even considered going and changing into lavers during any of my sessions since I did the new toe lacing mod. I saw how awesome paul's looked after he took his laver walls off his climas and did a similar lacing mod that I had to try it myself, and honestly, I think mine turned out even better than his because of the differences in our models.

anyway, I did some okay playing. I hit a few long strings with lots of components, started a good string with plo> qlo repeat, hit 203 consec infinities, 25 consec ducking clippers, and 11 consec ss mirages (I know, that's weak, i'll try harder next time, it was the end of the session ;) ). I believe that the infinity drilling is helping to lengthen my string, so I'm going to continue to drill other moves like the ss mirages and ducking clips. I also want to start counting ripwalks, PLOs, and soon, atomsmashers as well.

I did not work on gyro at all today, and I wish I had. I think I'll have time for one more session tomorrow before I go to europe, maybe I can sneak in some quick gyro mirages then. I haven't hit vortex since I wrote about it a few posts back... that's kinda disappointing. I haven't really worked on it that hard, though. rrrrrg.... so much to do.

I like my head mod. it helps me play legball, and it feels good, and it's much easier in the shower.

Can't wait to see you all at a tournament sometime in the future. Footbag brings me together with all the people I want to be with. Thanks for playing and being one of those people.
