late 90's videos

Post by max »

When I started footbagging in 2000 this was THE place for footbag videos:

http://dallas.footbag.org/multimedia/index.html

I stumbled on this today, I thought the site was down but apparently not. What do you all (the newbies, and the oldtimers) think?

I think it's great taking a trip back 6 years like this.

I love all that old stuff. That's what got me into shred. It was hackrifice, a bootleg copy of Sultans of Shred (totally forgot who made it for me) that had ToTT on it too, and believe it or not, Mike Wilson videos that he sent me. I remember it was mostly tiltless stuff and I was totally amazed. He was like my mentor when I first got into it. Oh MAN I just remembered, once I got Sultans of Shred (which cuts off with like 15 minutes left too, because it was bootleg - I want to buy a real copy. It's one of my favorite vids) and got totally into Ryan (kids, your Vasek was my Ryan) I actually went and somehow downloaded all these Ryan vids from some website in another language. Don't remember the site. I of course also splurged on footbag.org, and the Dallas site. I remember going to the footbag.org trick list everyday before I found vids and thinking "How will I ever learn all of these!" That was before I even knew that you were supposed to LINK them all together.

Does anyone know where I can seriously get a copy of Sultans of Shred?

haha I did the same thing!
f.org, was basicly the only site with single trick vids at the time and scorpion's tail was the biggest trick there! I remember copying Carol's blur and drifter onto diskette (yes it was long time ago) to show Fred, we then tried drifter for the next year or so unsuccessfully :) We were just blown away.

Oh yeah at the time we didn't quite know we had to link tricks either. The forums changed everything.

So true, so true.

I remember downloading EVERY video of the Dallas footbag site when I was on dial-up, back in the day.

Oh, the memories. :)

oh MAN and DIAL UP. i would try to download one vid a night and then watch it like 30 times the next day. now i don't do that anymore. i end up downloading 3 sometimes in a day and then just watching them each once. the saturation of information is somewhat overwhelming and sometimes harmful to the advancement of the sport, i think sometimes.

3 things struck me while reviewing 99 worlds. (It was definatly one of my most downloaded sites back in 02 when I began.)

1 Damon hit GYBAS in 99???
2 Jason Crook went to a worlds??
3 Not a single ducking move!

It's an abbreviation for "Grab your balls and squeeze." Does no one hit this move anymore? It used to be pretty huge.

Wow the good old days. When Ellis was Eli and was still on his first nickname, and Rippin was still playing and I couldn't string 4 tricks to save my life (oh wait that's today  )

I saw footage of Damon busting pixie paradon swirl from like 99...yes??? That's huge! GYBAS is STYLEY!!!!!! Jorden totally busts that move.

I don't think Eli minds being called Eli, as long as you don't mispronounce it. It's pronounced "EL-ee", NOT "EE-lie" -- I can see how that would be annoying.
