500 entries 8O That's cool! :) Jochen you can have an jochen at munich-footbag.de address if you want to!

27 June 2005
Ahh another Monday session :) Players: Beatrice, Bjoern, Daryl, Q (?), and Markus We all met at my place around 18:45 and headed for a sporting ground close to our house. The stadium is within 5 minutes of walking. We started with a circle pretty early, so no extrem warming up / drilling wich turned out to be ok. We had to leave around 20:30 but continued playing till almost 22:00 ;) Unfortunately left quite early because of his calf. But he still hit a new trick Diving SS Legover on both sides.
Other tricks / combos I remember:

Beatrice hit Ripwalk and Sidewalk midrun again + I saw her doing a whirl for the first time and it looked really good. She a couple of long runs (12-18 contacts) with lots of pixie, some stepping, (ss) butterflies and Osis in it! :)

Q: did his first atws bs and 6 toe stalls, not bad for the first time.

Daryl: He planned to stay only for one hour but left after 3 maybe :D He'll write for hisself what he had hit.

Markus: He started to do a lot more flipside clippers and Butterflies! Wich is great. And hit several Drifters. He also had soem pretty long runs and hit Torque :p I'm sure there was more stuff that I already forgot.

I didn't hit anything new, except perhaps Witchdoctor but I think I hit that before, anyway I sealed it first try. But it still needs work on the flipside. In runs I mostly tired links that are harder for me like: Whirl > DLO, DLO > Pixie anything, Osis > Whirl and some others, but the all worked pretty well wich made me happy :) I did Atomsmasher > Atomsmasher again and started one run with flipside Atomsmasher and another one with Tapping Butterfly. Ans I was so close to bsosing Dimwalk > Pdx Mirage > Drifter but the on the laster Drifter the bag rolled of my foot :? But still my Pixie worked great yesterday, all that schooling pays off ;) What shoked me that I hit duking clipper 4 x during warming up! On the other hand I started to do that trick more often and it is so much fun! I also want to start to get my spinning more solid. Ahh it was great to play that long again since my time is limited cause of my exams.

My new move for that session was Weaving Legover (bs), not diving legover :)

It was so cool to play with my crew again after so much time. I haven't
played with Bea and Mike for so long. I hit some ok runs, but after a while
the pain in my calf slowly started to come back.

2 months of physio therapy and there we go again.

Which means I'm out for a while (AGAIN), and it's really pissing me off.

I think I have to focus on how to land softer. I once was drilling alternating
clippers, and Max, who hadn't seen what I was doing thought I'd practice
my stepping set.. 8O

Well.

Yeah , yesterday was great :D the vibe was so good, and the occasion
that we all play together is rare ( everybody showed up, except Hania
and Philip ), so the one hour i had planned in for shredding that day
expended to 3,5  ...

The way i saw it everybody played well and had fun and a few hot
minutes, the only minus was Bjoerns calf pain showing up
uninvited  i love this guy and not having him around sucks
dead donkeys cock ! If you read this and are a doctor/voodoo priest,
please contact us !!!

The session itself started in the proper way, warm up was kept
to a minimum and we started a shred cirlce pretty soon .
I definitly included more clippers, butters and pdx mirages this time,
pixie and ducking/diving were ok, atomic was so so.
Next session i got to work on stepping, spinning and dlos more, i have
a tendency to neglect these a bit...
That day i had some decent runs, always starting of with some move
or combo that is held in high honor ( in my world, of course) :
flip atomsmasher, flip dlo, xbd rake>plo, datw, diving clip>gyro mir
and so on.
All of these runs were 12-17 contacts tiltless with 4 or 5 three add moves,
i tried to keep my favorites ( pixie, ducking, atomic) threes as bothsided
as possible and i started to include rakes, bops and symp mirages more ;

thats it actually, i'm starting to make my game more round, in terms
of variety, bothsidedness and style - i want a straight back and small
dexes !
But there were some other runs when i was trying to hard or wasnt focusing enough, things are still shaky sometimes - i gotta relax more, get a clearer mindstate while shredding .

Hits :

smear bsos ; plo bsos; pdx mirage bsos; ducking mirage bsos;
ducking clipper bsos ;

flip toe dlo>run
clip set diving mir> run
datw>run
flip dimwalk
stallberger mirage

i've hit this stuff before, but all these in one session still gives me a :D !

News :

tap>legover b2b

xbd rake>plo b2b

pdx mir > pixie illusion bs

diving clipper>gyro mirage>run
from flip 8)

Big props for your improvement, your refreshing creativity and hitting
TORQUE 8O , Markus we need to shred more often !

Max, your the only guy involved in any kind of hardcore stuff, that puts
a smile on my face - i never knew flailin' can be so much fun

Bea, props on the whirl, i wish i had seen it- its good to have you back !
We will win doubles someday :P

Good Call , man :D
Next time i shred i will work on datw like crazy, so that i can hit dso
more often, i also want to hit reaper finally...

my german test today went quite well, it was definitly weird to sit in a
class room amongst other grown ups, who act like nervous teens,
and i've been out of the whole school thing qiute a bit, but i prevailed :P .

to give my self a little reward and to get rid of all that adrenalin,
i had a little session ; i worked on butters, guiltless combos and ducking,
and i had some good runs this time :
pixie ss mirage>ducking clipper>pdx mirage>mirage>smear>butter>
f. legover>legover>plo>pick up>butter>pdx mirage>run>symp drop
:D
maby 16 contatcs with 8 guiltless.

i also hit some toe dlos bothsides, beta smear, symp mir stallberger
and a coupla atomsmashers...

gotta do some math now...tomorrow is d day...

First of all, that math test of mine went horribly wrong :? :x i dont
wanna go into details here, but it was harder than i expected,
plus most of that little mathematical knowledge i've acquired
during the last month failed me in this fatal hour...

But who knows, the two other tests went well, so they might still take me
on board - if not i gotta go to school four years, instead of three,
the test is basically for all those, who want to skip the first year .
I definitly learnt something today, and if things go right, i'll put it to use .

After all this unerfreuliche business, i took some time off to meet up
with the infamous Mr Hunter .

SHRED THE PAIN AWAY

This one was all about wicked runs and combos, i was having so much
fun and i probably played the best footbag in my ten little months ever :D
Today was the first time i could remember and hit almost every trick of my repertoire and the goodness didnt stop there ;
there were times of course were my style was too hectic/out of control,
but generally i could do all the stuff i wanted to do with good form,
and i really enjoyed myself.
My basics look better now and are more reliable too and the standard
of lets say 13 contacts with meager 3-4 three adds went up to 16-20
contacts with 6 -7 three's and surprisingly "many" four's.
I sound like a moron, but i'm not used to having many good runs packed
with "hard" moves, so i cantremember the excact sequence of 'em,
let alone all the contacts involved...

HIGHLIGHTZ :

datw midrun; beta smear midrun; symp miraging stallberger midrun;
atomic legover>run ; both dimwalks sealed to runs ; dimwalk mid run;
duck symp mir midrun;blur; reverse swirl, spinning clipper

clip setducking clipper>pdx symp mirage>run

diving clip>pdx mir>run with butter, symp mir, smear and ducking mirage

atomsmasher>run with smudge, smear and some ducking stuff

xbd rake>butter>pdx mirage>mirage>smear>pickup>plo>pickup>
ss mir>ducking clip>run>butter>f.legover>ducking mirage>short run :!:
20 contacts and a truck load of endorphins :D

butter>pdx mir>atomsmasher bs on my flip sealed to a short run

plo>dlo>run with smear and some more 3's i cant remember:wink:

plo>ducking symp mir> nice run

one run with smear bsos, flip plo, pixie ss smear, diving mirage and butter

atomsmasher bsos

atomsmasher>ducking symposium mirage>run yeah !

pixie miraging stallberger 8)

The thursday session was really cool :) Espacially the locations, from a orphanage to a bus station. After a PS Whirl try (I do one every week) I felt a sharp pain in my back and decided to not do that trick again that day ;) I still hit some neat things Pixie ss Whirl, Atomsmasher b2b again and Osis > Whirl. And at the bus station we entertained all the people sitting their and waiting for their bus to arrive. One woman was really interested, she asked us some things about Footbag and we gave her our club flyer. So handy to have those with us when we shred!

2. July 2005
Ahh after one English exam and another 5 hours of learning bookkeeping and XML I headed for a sunny spot near to my place and had an wounderful solo session! I played the whole session with Bea's Ilja bag wich isn't fully brocken in yet. But playing with a fairly rolly bag will hopefully improve my stalls! I started with 114 kicks wich is my new record :8 after that I did 45 Pickups and 40 Clipper on each side. I just went easy today and drilled whatever poped up in my mind. Osis, of course :) some ducking and I really tried to figure out what my flip pixie set needs to become more accurate, cause the bag still sometimes goes too much to the outside. The result was that I did 4 Magellans in a row, wich is 100% than my old flipside record :) I also hit Pixie Pickup > Pixie Pickup for the first time (I think) One highlicht of the sessionwas that I made quite an advantage in understanding / doing Paradons! I will drill them more next time. Thats all.... :D

Who wants to shred tomorrow ?
I suggest that we grab kicks and bags and scare some people round 1830
at the Hunters' !

Today i woke up hungover and parched, a day to lie around stoned
at some lake, re-reading a fourite book, doing nothing aside form
contemplating how cold the water would be, if one could work up
enough energy and courage to go and test it, but the desire to go
out there to wield the blades was getting too strong too ignore.

But life just isnt that easy at most times, i had no shorts suitable for
the action, and my condition didnt make things easier.
I decided to go to a small vietnamese restaurant for a light and slow
meal and the obligatory i-live-in-munich-and-its-summer beer.
Feeling a little better i made the trip home, sat around in my room,
blinds down and the computer buzzing, phoned up my old crew,
grabbed the shorts that Ryan M. had borrowed form me years ago
when he was the master of the universe and i was a ignorant circle
hacky slacker who showed the world champ a very ungelenk
around the world, when he asked me if we were playing tiltless or
guiltless, and headded out again to greet the sun with shred.

My friends and me met at Tollwood Festival, a place of exotic smells,
a multiverse of colors, toys, instruments and other life saving inventions-
or, in short, a alternative music/market 3 week event done in the
infamous posh munich style, set up in the big park area around the
olympic stadium. Actually, a lot of "alternative" young emotional people
think its clever and fashionable to hate on this festival, because it
turned from esoteric hippy to some sort of over commercialised
(is that even a word ?)and over expensive public attraction.
So wrong. A festival is a festival, and in a boring and arrogant place
like munich, stuff like that is the dogs bollocks ; or the racing camels
water, if you will - a place i'd definitly show to a visiting friend, even if
its just for having an uncourteseous laugh or two and wondering where
all these nice chicks hide in the winter.

I met the gang completly intuitivly, we had a few beers and laughs
and watched a paradigm of an amateur new skool hip hop dance
show for a bit , which was both, strangely appealing and artificial,
in a rude way.
Like a cheeseburger from mc donalds, basically.
Wolke and me broke out, making it to the near hills for a beer and
a sunset.
We had a good talk, Wolke and me - he really is one of my favorite
peeps ever, we speak the excact same language, and since we have
similar way of thinking, we dont have to meet much, but enjoy
it, when we do so.
After chatting and having to endure myriads of remarks about
how i'm in love with atomsmashers at the moment, my buddie
went on to hang with the gang and i was meaning real business
by then; new 4-4combo : ducking symp mirage> dimwalk

Being confident and happy with my small game for the first time -
it started last monday - i played with good control, without being in
strife with moves and sets ; it seems as if the majority of my tricks
are beginning to feel natural. Damm, i just called the devil...

Flip toe dlo midrun with datw, plo, smear, butter>pdx mir
in the same string ; more flip dimwalks and flip ducking stuff finally.
I also liked hitting two datws in one run, that felt cool :P .

But wasnt really concerned about any tricks today, my head was
empty and runs were on, instead of chasing after a certain combo,
spending too much energy, i just played .
A scene in the "where the ripwalk ends" gave me a nice and useful
insight, that solved a lot of the troubles in the way way i play
and approach footbag.
As the words"effort" and "effortlessly" appeared in white letters on
a blue backround i realized that i progress by putting a lot
of effort (drilling hard and obsessivly) in eventually being able
to shred effortlessly, i.e playing like a true samurai would :D

It makes me feel so much lighter, having my obsession integrated
in such a noble course and seeing it closely related to my ultimate
goal in footbag : playing with the artists heart.

Playing in public is an interesting thing, especially when having a
good day and a good crowd that gives away cheers and props
like they werefor free.
Its kinda strange, there are a lot of times to be honest, when i secretly
and most childishly whish, that some one compliments me on something-
a scene from minority report pops into my mind, where this guy in
this futuristic gamezone lives out his fantasy, and he has all these
crazy people around him going "youre the man"! -but when i actually
get a compliment, i have no idea what to make of it, aside from a
confused facial expression .

Wow, that was long and rather tiringly personal, i'm afraid -
no, wait fuck that fucking shit - this is what blogs are about, right  ?

I cant wait for tomorrow, 6 o clock !

rise and shred :D :D :D

Hi Daryl I'm afraid won't be able to play today :( I have lessons till maybe 19:30. Besides you guys still play then ;)
By the way it's not that easy to really like the Tollwood! The bars and the tents with the stages are great but 99% of the things that are sold there suck! And it's the same old carding every year (actually twice summer and winter Tollwood alike) :D I mean who buys a didgeridoo or sings with "Elk crossing" on it? Also they have those crappy "hackey sacks" for 3 euros  But maybe people like to be ripped of. Anyway Munich is the greatest city to live in!
