this combo just oozed with style and the link where HARD.

Oh of course not, i was just trying to bring some laugh to the forum. HEHE. No, that is not my serious vote, I'll vote when I've rewatched the video. Awesome entries people, I am beginning to look pretty sucky amongst most of you now :( O well.

I haven't downloaded sick three yet. But I do think mine and chainsaw massacre would better in super slow motion. Its hard to see my one I think. But honza 8O That pixie was super high. Jorden's was just insane. Nice name by the way  The competition was just seriously high this month. Like anyone who comes last or anyone who even entered should be happy. I looked up whos on the list and I would just find it hard to place anyone. All the moves are just top knotch 8O Nice vid by the way nic

Re: June 2005 Sick One and Sick Three Events - VOTE NOW!!!

Post by C-Fan »

Here are my Sick 1 votes. This was real hard to do because of the quality of competition.

1. Jeremy Mirkin, quagmire: Cleanly executed, incredibly difficult and stylish trick. Can anybody else in the world even do this set? Lost some points though for not being balanced enough to seal it. This was a very close call.

2. Ogawa Kenzo, Chainsaw. I watched this over and over. Could the second dex be deeper? Yes. Is it the? No. Good control, and I could see it all clearly. Another very rare and hard move whose adds bely its difficulty.

3. Honza Weber. This entry would be rated higher if filmed from a better angle. It`s really hard to say whether or not he got the ps whirl or not. Brand new trick deserves props though, and I give him the benefit of the doubt.

4. Jorden Moir. Cool trick, but from the angle its hard to really see the second dex. I would have liked to have seen it more pronounced. Hard to give it complete credit, but thats due to the angle. Still, I`d never seen this trick before, so it gets props.

5. Byrin Wylie. Alpine Fume. Sheer cleanliness of execution puts this entry so high. Not the biggest trick in the comp, but the fairy was deep, the duck was good, and you played out of it solidly. Looked excellent. Good execution brings this trick this high.

The rest of the entries are too hard to call for me, so I will just leave some comments.

6th place would be a decision between Phil, Anssi, Shane, Aaron, and Henry. Your Mom is super hard, but the last dex could have been deeper. Gangsta is also really cool, but I thought Anssi`s duck needed to be deeper to really move up in the rankings. Definitely crown-y. Shane`s trick is cool, but the set seemed pretty midtimey. I was hoping to see bs frantic like Seb`s... but still, midtime bs smog is rad. I think if he had hit something bigger than legover out of the set, he would have been ranked higher. Aaron gets big props for clean surging. Its rare. But ultimately the trick wasn`t big enough to break into the top 5. I liked Henry`s trick a lot. Maybe it was hurt a bit by the fact that I saw Red Giant recently. The duck could have been deeper. But definitely a contender. I think any of the entries that I mentioned in this paragraph would have had a real shot at winning the previous Sick One contests. If some of them were slightly cleaner, they`d have had a shot at winning this month`s entry.

After this group of entries, I would put David Wilder as the next. His move was original, clean, had lots of unique elements, and he hit it flawlessly. Great work! It just wasn`t at the same level of difficulty as all the tricks which were entered this month. After David I would put Tobias. He executed an alpine trick cleanly in long pants, which is hard. But the difficulty just wasn`t at the level of the other entries. Nic and Toby S`s entries are about equally difficult, and equally well executed. Great job guys! But again, not at the same difficulty level. Jochen`s entry I would rank as last, because I don`t think he got the third dex.

Bravo everybody. The level of this month`s comps was incredibly high. Big props for entering and entertaining.

When I vote for sick ones I take into account the the control and execution of the trick, its difficulty but I also take into account the freshness of the trick.

How cool is this trick? Have I seen it 150000 times before?

This explains why I rated gyro weaving symp mirage so high. It IS a hard trick (I've done the none symp. version and the weight transfers required are quite tough) and it just screams UNIQUE.

Just thought I'd mention this.

Sick 1.

1. Jeremy Mirkin
This move is so awesome, so hard and so well executed. Execution is so important in sick one comps because it's very hard to compare the difficulty of different tricks. I tend to think about how many people I know who can hit the move or the components - in this case I know nobody who can hit quantum gyro and it looks really really solid.

2. Kenzo Ogawa
Another really well executed trick. Maybe a little easier then some of the others but hit much better and cleaner - which in my opinion makes it better!

3. Henry Griese
Very creative, and stylie. Also well executed. Looks very solid - nice work!

4. Jan Weber.
Very hard trick. Pixie spinning is fairly difficult and probably very few if any people have hit this move. That said the whirl at the end looks very sketchy. I think it's clean but you drag the bag a long way after stalling.

5. Byrin Wylie.
Very hard move and well hit. Clean fairy set and very clean duck! Good work!

6. Phil Morisson.
Hard move and I think hit cleanly. I guess it's a bit too common to rank higher although 6th place in this field is still very good!

7. David Wilder.
Wins big points for creativity and style. Well hit move. Duck could be a little tighter but it's still definitly clean! Good control out of the move too - which is good especially with a flyer!

8. Jorden Moir.
This doesn't end in a torque screw at all, but rather a torquing refraction. Probably it's still a lot harder than many of the moves above it but I think it's important to be severe on badly hit moves regardless of difficulty.

9. Anssi Sundberg. Like with the above move, it's not clean. I'd call the duck "the" or too close to count the move as it's written. You've finished the ducking motion while the bag is still above and infront of you head. Sorry but that's not clean.

10. Aaron Orton
Unlucky not to have finished higher. Cleanly hit and well executed. Just short on difficulty - surge is a pretty common move and not that hard (compared with the other moves in this comp).

11. Nic Bathgate
Would have put you higher except for your reaction. Ok I'm just kidding - very well hit move and hard too! Probably not as hard as the moves above but good none the less.

12. Shane Smith
Cool move, but thought you looked very awkward hitting it. If you could do it standing straighter it would get more points from me. Props none the less. Looks a long way from a pixie symp quantum atomic set though.

13. Tobias Djiuardi
Nice work - especially hitting this in pants. Looks pretty clean and solid.

14. Toby Suggate
Well hit, clean, a bit easy for the standard but the standard is very high so you've still done really well.

15. Jochen Bauer
Sorry but this is another badly executed trick. I think it's probably clean but just the set out makes it very hard to count this trick as hit. I'm sure you can hit a much nicer one.

Overall I thought the standard was very very high! All 15 moves are hard moves. I was a little dissapointed with the execution of the moves and maybe punished it more than I should have but considering how long you have to try and hit a move - I'm sure that the people with bad execution could have hit a nicer one. I think of sick ones as like diving (as in jumping into a swimming pool - not ducking ss component :P) - it doesn't matter how much harder your move is to somebody elses - if you make a big splash you still score badly.

Still everybody should be congratulated for entering and you still beat all the people that couldn't hit a move.

Three months does a lot to a man
I am so impressed with this competition, I have watched the video like 20 times. I was wondering why jeremy didn't enter sick one either  I also wonder with people such as myself, if there are others who can do like sick ones and poor combos. Or sick combos and poor sick ones or just lower difficulty. I just find it hard to link moves let alone choose them :( Am I the only one

Whew, ok I have finally got a minute to lay my votes/comments down.
Thanks for all your input so far everyone, I hope we can get a few more pages of votes still :). It will be very interresting to see who comes out on top this month! All the votes are pretty different! No clear winners.

Sick1
1.Honza Weber (Blue Widow) - Totally huge and totaly unique. A good demo of why you are one of the best in the world Honza. I think the execution was good, especially for a move as insane as this. Full points.

2.Jorden Moir (Moirius) - Another newly invented move which automatically gives you 100% origionallity points. This also happens to be insanely difficult! Though the dyno did look a little thin.

3.Jeremy Mirken (Quagmire) - Absolute brilliance. A very dificult set by itself, combined with GYRO 8O. You truly are the man Mr. Mirken. Props for inventing a new move for the comp!

4.Kenzo Ogawa (Chainsaw Massacre) - I have watched this clip over countless times, this move absolutly amazes me, I wish I could rank it higher. Very unique move, who's adds dont do it justice, execution looked great to me. Congratulations!

5.Anssi Sundberg (Gangsta Party) - Execution looked a little slopy compard to the grace I am used to seeing from you Anz, very hard move though and worth all 7 of its adds. Origional too!

6.Byrin Wylie (Alpine Fume) - Very very difficult. I do fairy ducking and know first hand that that move is impossible. First time I have ever seen or heard of that move, and I love all the components in it. Brilliance.

7.Phil Morisson (Your Mom) - My mother saw the title to this clip as I was editing the video.. but that won't affect your vote :p. Not totally origional but close ;) very very difficult but IMO Chainsaw looks harder.

8.Henry Griese (Alpine Little Apple) - You little ba#^@rd, looks like you got me this time. Congrats on a very origional and relatively difficult move. Hope it was worth the 4.5 hours u spent hitting it ;)

9.Nic Bathgate (Blurry Drifter) - A desperation move more than anything, still was difficult for me, but did'nt take long to hit. Not very origional either.

10.Aaron Orton (Gyro Blur) - I have been watching some footage of you lately and damn, your legs are like samuri blades! So fast! This move seems a bit easy for you though and is relatively common.

11.Toby Suggate (Pixie SS Double Legover) - Pretty common trick but well executed. Very nice first 3dex ;).

12.Jochen Bauer (Pixie Paradon) - A hard move no doubt but a little poorly executed, also not terribly origional. A cool 3dex though!

13.Tobias Djiuardi (Darkwalk) - Would be difficult in those pants and those shoes, but pixie diving (though harder than ducking) isnt hard and butterfly is similar in dificulty to clipper.

14.Shane Smith (Pixie Symposium Quantum Legover) - Good effort, but that is barely a set and the pixie AND quantum looked thin as to me. Also you came out of it really badly. Full points for origionality though.

15.David Wilder (Pixie Ducking Dragonfly) - 100% unique! I have never seen or heard of anyone hitting this! The moves was'nt that technically difficult but was perfectly executed. Props.

Sick3
1.Honza Weber (Barroquescrew > Food Processor > Superfly) - I almost wet myself when you sent me this 8O. I have dreamed for a long time about having the Ceczh crew joining the competition and it has actually happened! Not only is this combo unimaginably difficult it is unique aswell! I have never seen anyone hit Barroquescrew and you perform it perfectly INTO A 6ADD STEPPING MOVE!!! WOAH! On the downside, I think superfly is a bail for you. Props on this amazing piece of work!

2.Jorden Moir (Torquescrew > Void > Paradox flux) - As ususual Jorden hits with the wild card! Technically insane and totaly origional. Torquescrew>void is a crazy link, and it is topped of with total style linked the pdx flux.

3.David Clavens (Janiwalker > Janiwalker > Bedwetter) - Very furious combo! And well executed! I like bedwetter very much and it fits perfectly in this combination. Props

4.Jeremy Mirkin (Fury > Atomic Whirl > PS Whirl) - Awesome combo, fury is a brilliant move and looks sweet into atomic whirl. PS whirl is a bit of a bail for a pro like Jeremy Mirken though ;). Props.

5.Anssi Sundberg (Phoenix > Tomahawk > Paradox Flux) - This combo is very similar in difficulty to Aarons I think. The differance is he stepped out of the Phoenix and you ducking(stepping obviously is harder) but hitting pdx flux to finish really does it for me. Flux is very cool and underused move and I like it much more than spinning whirl :).

6.Aaron Orton (Pheonix > Blurry Whirl > Spinning Whirl) - Very nice 5>5>5. Not very origional but very difficult. I have said already I really dig your style, and this is no exception. Props on the sick disease that makes u so good :p.

7.Nic Bathgate - It is no walk in the park fairying out of blur, and 'fairy ducking midstring is hc' - Anssi ;). I intended to hit blizzard instead of pdlo and that woulda made it better but oh well. It is a pitty this was voted under Henry's by so many people, especially since fairy duck clip is eaisily as hard as phonix, I just don't like butterflys.

8.Chris May (Legbeater > Paradox Whirl > Paradox Blender) - This was a very sexy combo. First 2 links flowed great and I LOVE pdx blenders!

9.Damon Mathews (Pixie Reverse Whirling X-Body Rake > Paradon Rake > Motion) - This was jolly origional, reverse whirls are not too hard and I dont really like rakes, but you do execute them well for such a difficult to execute well move.

10.Henry Griese (Atomsmasher > Atomsmasher > Phoenix) - Two moderately difficult 3add's/easy 4add's linked to a very easy 5. If the phoenix was mid string or at the start i would rank this much higher.

11.Toby Suggate (Pixe Legover > Parkwalk > Double Legover) Solid guiltless combo. Would do very well if there where an intermediate devision ;).

12.Jochen Bauer (Parkwalk > Ducking clip > Spinning osis) - Great to see some intermediate entrys this month! I wish there where more! This was executed well and flowed nicely, props man.

13.Shane Smith (Sympo SS mirage > Symp SS mirage > Symp Reverse Whirl) Apart from being origional this combo dont have much goin for it. Symp reverse whirls are so easy its not funny and compared to some strings you said you hit, this is far to easy.

14.David Wilder (Smear > Dimwalk > Far legover) Very nice man, looks like you have a strong pixie. If the far legover where a pdx mirage I think it would be better ;).

15.Jeremy O'Wheel (Around the world > Pixie > Legover) I think this is your best entry so far! You just keep getting better! Props on a solid tiltless combo, in pants!

Geez that took me like 1.5 hours :(. Lol I hope everyone reads their comments ;)
Next months comp is going to be carnage, there will be so many entrys, might need to run the thing over 2 months!

are you kidding nic! You would rank me higher if it was at the start?!?!!? Thats the easiest time to hit Phoenix! It is harder the way i hit it because its coming out of my flip atomsmasher!!!! WOWWWWWWW. You overanalyzed that combo to no other, and you decided to get yourself a pity vote!!!!

Your sick 3 ranking is totally shit nic. Please no pity votes for yourself. And surge is way more original than blurry drifter. Try to vote without bias please.

honza - big trick...as blunt as that

anssi - unfortunately not as clean as what i saw from you in berlin
byrin - imo a very hard move! about same level as gangsta
phil - too common though very hard

aaron
shane
david w
toby s

mirken - i liked the first link a lot! ps whirl is not interesting at all though...
jorden - nice dyno>void link, but the flux was too sketchy to me
anssi - the flux!!!
david c - probably harder than anssi's but same move b2b is too little variety to me for sick 3...
...
