Band may be breaking up

I'm 15 years old and I play electric guitar in a band. We've been together for about a year and a half and now i think a couple of the other members are becoming uninterested it. I love playing in the band and have put a lot of my time, effort and money towards it. I just dont know what to do, I want to talk them back into becoming motivated again. If we do break up i'd probably form another band but would have a hard time finding another drummer.

Last week my parents just ordered me a $700 amp head and if we break up I wouldn't be able to face them and say that I won't be putting it to use.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Definitely a rough spot - I've been in that position plenty of times (I play jazz trombone, and I used to play rock bass). I don't know what genre you guys are focusing on, but if it's rock, like I was playing in high school, I would say that it is really hard to keep others' interest up. And it is definitely hard to find a drummer.

It seems like I ended up switching genres because of this! I was totally into the punk scene and I had played in various punk and ska bands all throughout high school when I finally just accepted that the musicality and the lack of interest in others started turning me off from playing bass completely.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to put your new equipment to use. You can always go solo, or switch genres. I have to remind you that you're 15 years old and you will definitely have other opportunities to play music. Good luck!

First thing to do is to look for other possible members, then if they do leave you have something to work with.

Ah damn the band broke up. One and a half years of good memories all gone.

The bass/vocals/best friend of the band told the lead guitarist all this crap about how 'I' put all the pressure on him and how he couldnt cope. This i couldnt believe, i dont know how he could say such a thing. We've grown up together.

Then I asked the lead guitarist if he was still interested and he was like "nah" and he was the other member in the band who i thought was still motivated. Then he was stabs me in the back. And puts the blame on me.

Damn this really sucks.

Alright Robin Davies... I will tell you what you can do.

Okay, bands, they come and go. Some bands are really great and they become famous. PM me if you want the road map to making a successful band. What I recomend, especially since you are young is to focus on your musicianship. If you put in some focused effort, by the time you are 20 years old you could be so good at your instrument that EVERY BAND WOULD WANT YOU. Furthermore, you could be so good that you don't have to be in a band, that you could be a professional musician and get paid to play wherever you go. Or, of course, you could be in a band and bring the house down.

What you wanna do is go buy a book. First, determine your musical skill level. Can you read music? Can you site read complex music? Do you know how to play a 7th barre ? Depending on where you are, there are a few books that may be appropriate.

DESCRIPTION: (lol my caps) this is a classical guitar book that teaches you reading of music, even if it is not a style you like, you should still learn it

About styles, in the words of Bruce Lee, as made available to me through LIKE WATER 2 The best footbag video ever - starring ALLLLAN HAAAGGGEETT - yes i dont know how many letters there are in his name

style are limiting - if you learn all styles then you can truely do anything you want and create your own style

There is another book by the Berklee School of music press called

Berklee Guitar Method books 1 2 and 3

These will teach you reading music in a jazz style -

Also check out music theory books, chord books, scale books

LEARN THE NOTES ON YOUR GUITAR - you should be able to randomly pick any note and know what it is -- this is pretty hard - u have to practice it in groups and a LOT!

I have been working on my movie so much that I don't have time to practice music right now

JUST REMEMBER - you are 15 YEARS OLD! you can do ANYTHING and be VERY VERY VERY good at it by the time you are 20

that means you can do what you love and get paid for it - and wont have to work crappy manual labor jobs

STUDY music - its cool to be in a band - but not if you don't learn your instrument properly -
why? cuz!

bands break up - but a true musician will always be one with himself

Unless you'd lost your memory as well as the bad, the memories should still be there, and they should still be good. Just cos someone hurt you now, it shouldn't lessen the joy that you felt back then.
