my first official trick
After practicing all over the place today I landed my first legover. Hurt my right leg practicing so I had to continue practicing right to left (instead of left to right). Finally I nailed it and kept practicing so we could get a few videos on my bro's camera phone (I'll post one so you guys can tell me how I did with it once I get it on the computer). Even though my right leg hurt I kept practicing awhile until I finally landed it on both sides (right to left and left to right).
Damn it feels good to land your first trick, especially on both sides. I couldn't have done it without lavers and the toe box mod on flipsider. So far I really like the lacing method that Kenny Shultz thought up. This is my first trick not counting the toe stall. I still have to practice kicks, stalls, and this alot more but am I heading in the right direction by learning this early on?

I uploaded a video so I can get some advice on how well I did it. I think I might need to use my ankle for dexing more than my full leg. Anyway here's the link.

No need to download just click and view through your browser. Its really short so it will start quickly.

Thought that might happen. Damn. Well I'm trying to get it up on google video (they have to "verify" it). I'll edit that link in here once it goes up.
When I first read your post I thought link was slang for something involving the trick but I realized quick enough before I made a fool of myself

You have to copy the link to your browser. I saw the vid. I think you're doing the dex too high, but I'm a n00b too so maybe I'm wrong. Look, at www.flipsider.com. He's doing it so low.

As long as you actually dex the bag with your leg, it doesn't matter if your dex is high, or low. Its still a legover. When you get more experienced, your dexes will become tighter, and easier tricks, such as legover, will require much less effort and timing. For that matter, you'll end up trying to do the trick with the least amount of effort as possible, and by setting the bag lower, the trick requires less effort. Good job

Thanks for all the feedback. My dexes are starting to tighten up quite a bit. Landed my first inside and outside stalls (need alot of work) last week and the other day I landed a pickup and clipper on both sides (need EXTREME work). Right now I'm mainly focusing on my legovers and toe stalls (toe stalls feel much more natural now).
P.S. I really appreciate how welcoming the footbag community is. I can't think of many other things where the people want to help nearly as much. Seems like anytime I'm even thinking of planning to go somewhere there is someone there that is ready to set up a shred sesh. So I just wanted to say thanks for treating newbies as well as you guys do.

Also, there are plenty of good topics on modified that should be helpful. Look around General Footbag for the Move Nickname List and in Shred Symposium for the Footbag Sets List. Those should be helpful, albeit perhaps overwhelming. Also, start a footblog and people will help you one-on-one.
