<sigh> my hermey bag was sweet for two sessions, and now it has holes in it. I think i washed it too vigorously, or maybe it just got caught under a dropped symp mirage the wrong way.
Also, i forgot to mention, colin made some progress today, too. he hit 3 consecutive SS mirages, and he hit flip mirage > ss mirage. I'm very proud of him, he keeps making little advances every session, and he has enough personal strength to stand in front of someone far more advanced than he is and attempt mirage after mirage. It's really awesome to see him getting it and learning about persistance. He's transferring to Geneseo from RIT (I can't believe he made a whole year at RIT without one footbag session with us), so that means Chris Dean will have someone to play with, and that Colin will have someone to guide him. They're both very lucky, what with Chris being so good and Colin being such a cool kid. I hope they grow together well.

well footbag, or legball, or footballsacking has officially become my life.
no matter what im doing, where i am, or what im thinking about, footbag makes its way into my head, and ultimately to my feet.
TOFU was amazing, awesome people, INCREDIBLE shred, and of course coaches and gurus abounded.
i am very grateful in particular to kevin regamy (sp?) and to jorden. i completely re-learned mirages from kevin, which has consequently fixed my DLO and all other mirage tricks, as well as my atomic sets (i have a flip atomic now!), Jorden for teaching me downtime drifters the right way, and for his dyno help, and clippers, and making me "go big or go home". as well as being able to hit ANYTHING, ANYONE suggested. i dont think there was a single link and or trick that was requested that wasnt hit! Jorden, we'll definately kick when i come to toronto soon (if you arent in helsinki of course)

my bags are packed, my tickets are ready. I'm wearing a fanny pack... time to go soon. I'm going to rip back a quick bowl in a while, as it's going to need to last me until europe... I doubt my mom will let me smoke in the car on the way to the airport. She is going to drive me fucking insane, i can tell. but that's okay. I'll be on the road soon enough. i'll get myself a flask of chivas regal or crown royal or something, and that should keep me quiet on the flight. maybe there will be some bogus movie i can watch. I haven't flown in a long time... the last time was for the montreal summer challenge a few years back when that was still going on. My brother told me he took a transatlantic flight on Lufthansa last year, and they gave him free drinks all the way there, but I don't know if the American carrier that I'm taking is going to do that... that would be sweet. If not, though, my flask will take care of me.
I am not bringing my lavers. I like my climas. they feel like superlavers, the way I have them set up now, and I haven't looked back from them. Plus, unlike my too small lavers, they don't hurt my feet to use. They are a superior footbag shoe. I might take some sandpaper and smooth out the ridges on the inside. Tom says he loves his super thin inside area.

Work has been getting in the way of shred recently. I haven't been playing nearly as much as I want to. Three days out of the week are unfootbagable, but I'll be making up for lost time on my days off. Yesterday I hit 13 drifters on my first try and worked a lot on gyro and spinning ducking stuff. Also hit huge infinity swirls (Juho style) both sides. I have been dropping osis all the time now that I can no longer exploit the auto-crank of G-units. But lavers make me feel so light and fast so I'm happy with the switch.
Paul and I were discussing having a little jam here on some weekend in August. We've got enough crash space for all. The Diggeses will come, Zach will try and make it, and Matt will be back from Europe by then. I haven't heard from Aric in months. I expect that he's in some kind of footbag cocoon, practicing harder than anyone on the planet, and when he emerges he'll blow everyone away. Be ready world.
Time to head to the park for some shred. All new equipment is on the way: smaller lavers than the ones I own now (I hope they're not too tight), a beautiful Mosher bag, and my repaired Felix. I hope Tom remembers to send them to me before leaving for Europe.

just woke up... lise has some sick ilja bags just kinda hanging around. I just checked my bank account, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to afford a footbag while I'm in Europe. I'm pretty sure I'll buy an Ilja for myself. Giving away 3 of them and seeing how awesome they were makes me want one. I hope he'll have one available for me in a few days...
we played yesterday, and I did some more work on my spins. I think that to perform them clean and straight enough to set them high for ducking, I will have to begin de-cranking as I set. When I brought that up, Tom told me that that's what Jorden does, and he said the spins I did from that point on were looking better. I took some advice from Szymon at Euros to make my spinning ducking happen, but we didn't really account for my super-crank enough, and I was just frogging it horrendously. Step by step, I'm gonna get this... EVERY fucking Pole can do Montage... I can do it, too. gaaaah, I've hit mullet both sides, I know I can do it!
I can see the picture of Lise doing Marius from her avatar, only it's much bigger and cleaner, it also gives me ideas for improving my moves... looks like her catch knee is behind the calf on her dex leg, maybe that will help me tighten it up.
I really don't know how to start with Euros... The pre-competition exchange program was great, great fun. I stayed with Patricia Sczczczeniowska and Ian Pritchard at the dirty, smelly, old, bug infested, no-toilet-paper-having student housing (you'll notice, at least I didn't call it "expensive"). I met Dylan Fry again... We'd said hello before, but we got to really hang out this time. He has a most incredible, smooth style, and he's great to hang with. We played some guitar songs and did some shred and drank beers... That was pretty much the whole exchange for me.
At Austrian night for the exchange program, I got volunteered to represent North America in a few drinking games, and ended up taking a bunch of shots and a few beers, and then I drank a red bull at the end of it. By the time the red bull had kicked in, Dylan and I had endured each other as dance partners for some silly pomp and circumstance Austrian dance that Ali had us doing, and we had moved on to some pureed pancakes and more talking inside. Being a little drunk and charged up from the red bull, I became bored and began playing with candle wax. It wasn't long before I'd made a big puddle on the table, in the pretzel bowl, and finally, all over my hat, inside my shirt, and on my pants. It was my most regrettable action of the exchange, and now, I'm pretty sure Yves Kreil thinks I'm some kind of baboon. Then, Tom arrived and we smoked a joint and I calmed down again. There is still ugly wax trails down my hat, looking of bird shit and cum stains. It's my hair shirt for those actions, and I'll wear it...
I think this is how I'm going to have to talk about Euros, and probably the rest of my trip. I can't get it all out in one big footbag explosion, I'll just have to relate it with a few short stories at a time. Lise is downstairs, arranging some laundry time for Tom and I, Tom is asleep behind me, and I've got a lump to get working on.
All the love to my Rochester brothers. Chris, I wish you could be here... Your style would impress everyone, and I can only imagine how it would help your game, to see this level of play, and experience it firsthand. Let's jam it up in August, I'm all for it. I've been rendered immobile lately... my car is done for (Paul, that's why I haven't come up to shred with you since TOFU), and I dont plan on replacing it anytime soon. The money I will save on insurance could buy me a flight to Europe by next summer, to look on the bright side.
About this jam thing that's happening in Rochester. I am thinking the weekend of August 6,7 would be optimal. Not too soon, but it leaves plenty of time before Funtastiks not to get in the way. The Digges's can definitely come then (and will probably bring their brand new camera
), Matt will be back from Europe, and Paul, Mike and myself will be here. That's a pretty damn good group so far. But more is always better.
This has been a decent shred week for me. But every wed-fri I can't play, so that gets in the way of my cycle. My weekly practice routine has worked out so that saturday is pretty bad, and gets better on until tuesday which is my best day, then I am footbagless for three days, and it starts again.
That said, I had a pretty good day today. highlights

-pdx dlo bsos, and I don't really dlo at all, but I found they were pretty easy

I guess barflies and such aren't so bad after all, I just need to practice them more. Nukes have gotten worse... I need to start focusing on them again. My strings are still short because I drop the bag all the time now that I'm wearing lavers... I just need to work on catching things in a more solid fashion. But they make my whole game feel so quick and free compared to when I played in G6's. Not that G6's aren't completely awesome, cause they are.

Tom was going for a cloud kick set same side legover, but the way he was shifting his knee to go for it, it looked like he was trying cloud kick set pixie. I started to try that set, then Tom put in a few tries, and very quickly, he had a set up past his belly button! We called it Bonksie. I kept trying, and Tom was first to hit it to op butterfly (Airwalk?), both sides. Then, I did it both sides, and I hit it BSOS, which Tom also did later. Then, Tom got the set to legover both sides, and I got it to legover on one side. Then, I did cloud kick set barrage both sides, one side cleaner than the other. Tom did bonksie pdx mirage on one side, and I did it both sides. Then, Tom hit Airwalk b2b, which I did a little while later. I forget the order of the rest of the stuff, but I did it to pdx whirl both sides, Tom did one side. I did stepping pdx airwalk, and I think Tom did that, too.
I think that's about all of it. I was also pretty close to stepping whirl- blurry whirl rpt.
