World Games - Footbag?

Post by DoctorJay »

Currently in Germany there are the World Games - on a morning show the moderator told that these are the Olympic Games for non olympic sports - why isn't footbag a part of it?

Any suggestions?

I would presume that footbag isn't a part of it because nobody has taken the initative and tried to get footbag to be a part of the sport. Somebody needs to do that. cough cough.

please have a look what kind of sports are in there - I am sure that footbag could fit their criterias as well.

These days I got no motivation and time to do some research but I hope someone will find out something about it and get us in - ifpa?!

i dont know what it's like in other countries but around where i live its not that well known.

If it becomes more popular than yes i could see how you could petition for it to be an olympic sport

The IFPA is working to get footbag recognised as an Olympic Sport - which doesn't mean that it would be in the olympics by just that it would be an official sport :P Or something like that - I don't know the full details.

You can help this effort by joining the IFPA and by financially supporting the IFPA. Also as a member you can get involved with all sorts of committees and other stuff. If you go to http://www.footbag.org/ifpa and check out the different committees - if you see one that interests you and you'd like to help out - send the person in charge of that committee a message and I'm sure you'll get a positive responce back. Or look around and see what you think needs to be done to help the IFPA then take it upon yourself to do it and find the relevant person to talk to about it. At worst your changes will be rejected and things will be the same as they are now - at best you'll be making a significant impact on furthering the sport you love, so there really is nothing to lose.
