I spent the better part of today tunning and cleaning my mountain bike. I know it seems kind of odd to clean a mtn bike but there was a lot dirt and muck forming in the links of the chain. I had a hell of a time tuning the front derailleur, still not sure I did it right. I guess I'll find out on my next ride. Started lifting weights. My upper body is completely useless
One of the rooms in the office was converted to a little work out room and I think I'll be able to use the weights after work on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings. We'll see...

Hot as hell on Sunday. The initial plan was to kick at Millenium Park that day. We ended up walking towards adjacent Grant Park to look for another spot. At first I thought we were gonna maybe kick right along the lakefront. Then we ended up looking for a place to kick near Lalapalooza. This whole time Reile was some 20 minutes away asking me over the phone where we were going and I honestly did not know. I was just following everyone else at this point. At first I said we were gonna kick by the lake and that he should just walk towards there. Then there was a change of plans. I tried calling him several times to let him know but his phone just kept ringing. We walked more than a mile away from the original spot before Reile called me and asked where we were finaly going to kick. I didn't know. I just told him the we were now headed south and he should not go to the lakefront. Not long after, we reached the southern end of the concert and we turned right to head away from the lakefront to keep looking for a new spot.
We settled on this humungous underpass that covered us from the sun and kept us relatively cool due to the breeze running through it. There were also drinking fountains and washrooms nearby. It was about this time that Reile (nearby), Jon (home), Meinard (home?) and the twins (payhpone near the Loop) called me to find out where we were kicking. Finaly I could give some solid information! South end of Lalapalooza in an underpass beneath Michigan avenue. Now, I'd like to think that I have a pretty good sense of the streets downtown but that sense falied me BIG TIME at this moment. We were, in fact, not underneath Michigan ave. We didn't walk far enought west to get back to Michigan, we were underneath Columbus! I have no friggin' idea why that goddamned underpass had Michigan ave on it. FUCK. I should have caught that mistake... it would be easy for me to blame it on the mile and a half we just walked in the heat.
About another 20+ minutes pass by and still no Reile. He finally calls sounding rather annoyed at me. He was exactly where I incorrectly told him to be but there was no underpass. Anyways, I finally realized I had fucked up royally by giving him totally messed up directions. He eventually got to the spot with no further assitance from me. But now I still have 4 people on the way to the wrong place. Fortunately both Jon and Meinard have cell phones and correcting that part of the problem was easy enough. That leaves the twins somewhere along a mile and a half long stretch of Michigan ave. Fabulous.
Tom and I started walking west from the underpass to Michigan and then back north to hopefully spot the twins. Thank god there was shade right under the tall buildings. A few blocks go by and we have not seen them yet. I get call from a payphone from one of them saying that they could not find us and they were at the Museum of the Art Institute, not too far from where we all started. So Tom and I walked all the way over there found the twins and we all walked a-l-l__ t-h-e__w-a-y__b-a-c-k to the shred spot. So what did I learn from all this?
Stay home when it's hot.

The boss is outta town and I just got finished working out at the office. I've still got my classic rock CD BLASTING as loud as I can in the speaker system. NICE.
Lifting weights is scary without a spotter. I had to start really light just to make sure I was doing the movements correctly and not strain or pull a muscle. I have not done this since highschool. Already a bit sore but I feel good... need to eat now.

Last month's goals
X BE ON TIME
X DO NOT buy more 32's.
Xexercise more. Lose another 3-4 pounds.
X stay in constant contact with new players.
Xpromote/prepare for Midwest Regionals. Modified thread here.
_ have meeting about membership, roadtrips and website
_ organize earlier/better
_ those damn flyers...

OK, not the best month for accomplishing my goals. Still a fun month though. I kicked/ hung out with the Lane kids more this month. That meant more frisbee less kicking. Three shreds with outta towners. I found another way to spend money other than on footbags. Still running. Started lifting weights too. I think that has made me a bit lazy with my duties to the club, such as they are. I'm getting better at being prompt to jams but it's still not 100%. I have to do better.
James, Mike Hansen and Evan Lovely all came during last month to kick with us. James came in the beggining of the month, during Taste of Chicago. It was the day Carlos Santana came to play and there were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people. We could not even hold our usual spot due to the extremely heavy foot traffic. Tom and I went to scout for a new spot and it took us almost 10 minutes to walk through one city block filled with people. The kicking was ok. James had brought his son along. It was so weird seeing him as a father. It's hard to get rid of that image of him in my head as one of the 'Goof Troop' just hanging out and kicking all day long. It's good that he's taking care of his kid though. HUGE session with Mike Hansen in the middle of the month. We kicked at the Water Tower for more than 7 hours with about 3 circles most of the time. Shred was good and we played alot of 4 square too. It's always fun to hang out with Mike, he's so easy to get along with. Too bad he could not stay much longer. The session with Evan Lovely will forever be tainted with my biggest fuck-up to date. Eh, that's all I want to say about it.
I really think Tom, more so than anyone else, is single-handedly holding the club together right now. His improving game and his efforts to set up jams have really been keeping us going. Much props to you, man. I really feel that I'm to blame for his recent knee injury (and the last one, come to think of it). Kamil remains my biggest and most constant critic though I'm I'm not sure if any of it is constructive or helpful. There's only so much of his 'joking around' I can take. If you are so eager to piss me off, call me a gook one more time and I'll... well, I'll leave just your hands in working order so you are free to tell all of modified what a violent asshole I can be. Reile and Tim are still coming out but not as often as I would like. Never did get to that meeting. Maybe when we go to Reiles house we can all talk more about club business.
The Lane kids have taken it upon themselves to have their own sessions at Welles Park. They try to kick every day. When I do come to a session I play more frisbee than anything else. Played Ultimate for the first time. All the jogging payed off! One day Freddy, Martin, Cuba nd I stood in a square about 20-25 feet away and started whipping the frisbee at each other. You were only allowed to guard your face and nether regions with your hands. You had to stay perfectly still, if you flinched, parried or dodged the other guy got a free throw at 2 paces closer. Fun shit... until your hit. I don't freestyle much with them but we still play as much 4 square as possible. We even came up with a new version of Roullette. Instead of a specific rule, we used a different footbag for every square. You really need to have a wide variety of kicking objects to make this fun. Fortunately I happen to own such an array of footbags.
I have noticed my stamina has increased and I've been jogging about a mile 3 days a week. I really try to push myself to do more but my lungs feel like collapsing after a certain point. Still, I'm pleased with the progress I'm making. I started lifting weights this month. I'll work out 2 days of the week on days that I don't jog and just exercise at home on Saturdays. I'm starting out very light, making sure Ive got the right form and getting used to lifting. I've been reading several magazines to help me do the exercises correctly and focus on the muscle groups that I need to work on. My diet is ok. I need to drink more water and cut down on the iced tea. I can probably do without the extra caffine and sugar (fuck I'm drinking tea right now!). I've leveled out on the weight loss. I dropped to 148 but gained back 2 pounds the past 2 weeks. It can't be from the weight lifting. But I've went down 2 waist sizes. I'm content with the progress overall but I know I can do more.
I NEED to stay away from E-bay! I spent almost 200 bucks last month! If I'm online, I'm bidding on something. I just need to focus on saving my money this month. Reile and I came up with some ideas for this years New Years Jam shirts. I should probably start working on those soon. With Tom effectively taking charge of making sessions and me spending more time on my weight loss I've not been in touch with the club as much. I should probably send more e-mails and make more phone calls while staying away from e-bay.
Oh... almost got into a fight with a guy on the trainstation the other day. I think I handled it well, nobody got stabbed.
So, I've got alot to work on this month. I'm already more than a week into it. I just have to stay focused. It would be so much harder if i didn't make these damed lists.

Dude for a few hundred bucks and http://www.legalsteroids.com, you can take a lot of the effort out of getting swoll. You'll grow tits and your dick will shrink but it's worth it for 'rrhoids
I got so burned at MW regionals Saturday
The four square was fun though. and I got a few good 12+ titless runs in. Lost many games of net to Cory and Ted and Scot and Larry
Zeke I stole some of your moves + some of my own and won my FIRST game of 4-square! (no no I didn't hit anybody).
You can keep your resolution to save money and not buy any more 32's if you buy some facile and take up stitching. Who wouldn't want a Z-bag?

Congrats on the game of 4 square. Thats such a fun game, I really can't think of a time where I'm not having fun playing even if my game is off.
I've played Scot and Cory in doubles. They sytematicaly annihilated my partner an I in 4-5 games. Ted, that guy is ruthless! He does not cut any slack for begginers. It's a massacre every time we've played.
There was some talk within the club about stitching our own bags. But to be honest, the only person with the patience, discipline and work ethinc to be a good stitcher moved to Florida. It is a good idea though...

I'm a flippin' pino. There's a little spanish (well duh!) on my dad's side but I forget the details. Some people say I look more hispanic than asian and others say I look way younger than I actually am.

Thanks, I dont know if I have a knack for it... I just take so many shots that I'm eventually end up with a decent one. Having players as dynamic as Tom, Reile and Josh help abundantly.
