wait are you saying your not going to post on modified anymore because of a debate about whether it's ok to hand catch a pass or not? 8O

Or you're just not going to comment on this particular topic?

This thing is to much of a trip to leave forever. Breaks are good but so is mindless ranting with people who so happen to share a simliar intrest.

random- its ironic how people complain how lame flaming and bitching is.
Flaming sucks but not as much as you.

I think this should be done now. With the speed at which Footbag is growing there is no way to put universal rules on it. We can't agree on adds, paradox, symposium, spin v. inspin, etiquette, hand catches...etc. There are obviously different schools of thought on many aspects of footbag and the best thing to do is to teach others the way you like to play and see if they choose to follow that way.

If not then I guess we can fall into the old way of My Chinese Kung Fu is better than your Japanese Kung Fu and we all kill eachother in a big Quentin Tarantino showdown.

I think all this flaming is pretty stupid, but the cool thing is that it's brought on by people's passion for Footbag. The part we're all lacking in is the common sense to know when enough's enough. Damon and others feels very passionately about their side and don't think anyone should tell them differently. Pete and others are the same way. In the end none (or very few) of us will be converted to the other's side, but we all STILL LOVE FOOTBAG.

We will always argue over styles and things and in between we should remember to be hospitable, share our beer and pour Libations to the God of Footbag (sorry I'm taking a break from reading the Odyssey).

(and just a note. The Mods have been VERY leniant about censorship. Especially as it concerns Damon. He's the only one who censored his own stuff)

This is so intense.
If it upsets you this much that you feel that someone is TELLING you how to FREESTYLE, then maybe you need to reconsider you own idea of "freestyle". Shouldn't a big part of "freestyle" be that the confrontation with others' opinions and "rules" don't phase your own? It sounds more like you are limiting yourself by allowing others' WORDS to affect your principles.

God damnit Damon.

The original question and problem was

It is not ok to catch a PERFECTLY good pass, and THEN self serve to yourself. Its not about self serving in GENERAL. No one ripped on you, you started the flaming, as always. You get way to carried away. I think your "new look on life" has faded away and you are back to your own ways. Take offense to anything that has the slightest relevancy to you.

Time to move on now. no one wanted to argue with you, once again, but you had to blow up for no reason.

Why?
Maybe you misunderstood what I was trying to say.
"Rules" includes the absense of rules. I was trying to say that even if someone IS trying to impress something on you that you are against, you shouldn't necessarily allow it to disrupt your self. I was trying to say that allowing things others say to you mess with you is a "rule" you seem to have entrapped yourself in. It is restricting you and contradicts your own stance on "FREEstyle", as you are not allowing yourself to be free to think and do as you please. You are allowing others' opinions and actions to conflict with your own. Let it slide off your back.

MAN! i haven't looked at the forums in AGES but this was EXACTLY what i needed to come back!. christ i love a good flame war.

oddly enough the thing that i wanted to address in this post is when damon called out people. i REALLY wish we did this more often (in a respective manner). i love personal challenges and i really wish footbag had more head to head battles. anyone ever watched freestyle rapping? you know like head to head battles where they make it up as they go, and the person that tears the other down the best wins. at the end of it they nearly always will give props and a hug or something even though both of them just made fun of each other for a minute or so. i think that would be AWESOME for footbag. i would love crew battles. i can't speak for all of WV crew, but for myself, anyone wants to challenge me, i'd be happy to take you down fool! :D

As a moderator (not here, but elsewhere), I think it'd be a great forum feature to be able to lock people out on a thread level instead of banning them from the entire forum.

Then we could have productive conversations without the usual suspects butting in, but they'd still be able to post elsewhere and start their own little hate-flame-war threads in their world and keep the entertainment value alive ...

Oh well, maybe there's a mod/hack/plugin for phpBB, but I ain't doing the research :)

EDIT: thanks for the laughs guys
