setbacks

Post by Skeletor »

I keep having all of these setbacks that wont allow me to play footbag. I dont know what to do about it really. Everyday something else is wrong with either my legs, ankles, hips or knees because I walk stupidly and have a strange sense of balance. Its so discouraging that I cant play footbag becasue it either A) hurts WAY too much and B) Im afraid im damaging myself more. Damn stupid legs. I guess I need to start taking yoga or just keep trying at footbag as best I can. I feel like such a gimp for a 21 year old f.

:x

but im close to legovers and i can foot clippers.. wee... at least I havent given up yet. I have a huge problem with not finishing projects I start. but this isnt reallllllllllly a project but its close to that category in my brain.

Its late. I cant sleep

Ten Ways to "Kick for Peace"

by D. "Dog"

1. Give away your worn out footbags to novices in need of inspiration.

2. Kick with beginner and intermediate players. Kick with anyone, everyone. Encourage them like crazy.

3. Let homeless footbaggers crash on your floor.

4. Pass before you drop. Support the achievement of the group first.

5. Let your game reflect the cooperative, peaceful paradigm.

6. Develop your weak side. Encourage beginners to use both sides equally.

7. Perform for a crowd. Get them involved -- especially young kids.

8. Learn to sew. Proliferate the sport. Leave sacks wherever you go.

9. Carry a footbag with you always. Look for excuses to kick, sew and network.

10. Use footbag in foreign countries to burst ugly stereotypes about Americans.

(...so it was 11.) Confront violence and oppression both inside and out of the circle. Explain to everyone how the game symbolizes peace. Live it! Pass it on...
this is from the site previously posted. This is the mentality that Tom Mosher is. weird! and awesome.

:D thanks yo

So . I just attempted stitching my very first 32 panel. 8)
Tom cut the panels out and drew a brief but nice diagram for me but other than that I was on my own. In the end I did screw it up by not really understanding how to turn the bag into a bag. So i made a footbag like super mini- quilt if you can dig it.

Im still really proud I got that far with no guidance at all.

my shred has been coming along, I just need to drill more. I feel like a pretty pinocchio-ish footbag player.. Some day I'll be a real one :)

Vida for champion du monde!

If you're ever in need of inspiration, get a 'challenge-me' thread. Those are really helpful (actually wrote 'hempful' first --- 8O 8O )

Damn lavers!

It took me a goddam lifetime to find a pair for you!

I really hope that the size issues work themselves out, you look really cute in your lavers. :)

I look forward to shredding with you!

hey vida, have you heard from tom yet? is he in polish prison? carrying across borders in your bag is sketchy these days, since they scan every thing before it gets to the plane. i'm worried about him. they'll pass him around like currency in there...

Hey Vida, I'm coming to Kingston tomorrow, and I plan on dragging out as many kickers as I can while I'm up there. If you're up for it, let me know!

Had a sweet shred yesterday with Colin (newf) down at confed. It was supposed to be more of us but it was raining. I didnt know if Colin would show so I did my first real shred alone in a major public place. Its buskers weekend here though, So Im sure I just looked like another freak show. Im pretty sore but I made huge leaps yesterday with jsut general bag control and consistency. I broke my alternating toe stall record (its now 21!) and it was aewsome to shred with a new person. I got to taste that whole "shred with a complete stranger who just happens to be in town" for the first time. It was thrilling and neat. I am normally scared of strange social interactions but it was sweet to just come together for footbag and get to know eachother in the process.

Ive been stitching like crazy since my new material came in. Expect pictures and propaganda for VidaShredita bags soon.

Today isnt as great as yesterday. Im too sore to shred and my roommate was just a HUGE asswipe to me and now im too teary eyed to stitch. I wish Tom was here.

Aww im sorry Vida, Tom will be back soon.

I've heard alot about you from Tom. Tom is one of my favorite shredders to kick and to chill with. Hes a cool person. Hes taught me so much about footbag and about the footbag community. him and Matt Cross.

Props on the toe stall record! thats more then i could do when i first started...i wasn't very two sided when i first started shredding because i didn't know to be. Your a very very lucky person to have Tom as a footbag mentor and a friend :)

So I cant shred which totally sucks. Stupid wisdom teeth. However, they came out way easier than most people so I havent swelled up yet and I have little to know pain. I just don thave any energy since I cant chew since I have stitches (hee hee) in my mouth so I dont eat much but icecream yogurt and mashed carrots.

Its like being a baby all over again!

or something.

I took a bunch of sexy pictures of the footbags ive been stitching. Ill be posting them tomorrow. They rule. They rule like Kevin Spacey
