I used to have to take like 3 different buses to go out to Westminster or Broomfield to kick with Daryl and Co.

3 miles? Gimme a break. Walk. It'll take you 30 mins. tops, and it's a good warmup.

I think it's a desert thing, because I was in Phoenix last year and it was hell trying to get the 2 kickers down there to drive 30 minutes out of their way. As it was, one of them bailed out. :?

on a side note, did you know that gas in the usa is the cheapest in the world? i met a nice lady from peru when i visited new orleans and she didn't understand why americans were complaining, because she pays upwards of 8 dollars per gallon.

when you put things in perspective, you tend to become grateful for the things you have.

I am grateful for having $2.49 a gallon rather than $8, but that still doesn't mean we want to pay that much.

I live 26 miles away. Not 3, that was Jon. It would be kinda hard to walk that don't you think?

Ok, I don't know if you guys know what this was all about, so I'm gonna try and tell what happened so people understand the situation.

This was what I posted that started the whole mess:
Professor wrote:Ok Loren, I know you are going to have a heart attack, so you might want to sit down before reading this.

Jeff, John, Steve, Travis, and I have decided to have this Saturday's session, and maybe every Saturday session, down on the Northwest side of town. We are going to be having it at Jeff's dad's house. We wish you would come play with us, but if you really don't want to then we understand. I know you don't have a ride, but if I remember correctly I believe Travis said he would be willing to give you a ride there. There are many reasons that we've decided to do this:

1. Half of us live down here.
2. We don't feel a need to waste gas and not to mention harm the atmosphere, by all of us driving our cars 20-30 min., one way, every Saturday when you and Travis could come in 1 car. So we are protecting our earth, which we kind of need, so that we can play footbag.
3. Plus, we get food cooked for us at Jeff's house, which is always a BIG +!

So we hope you will come.

PS: I know you think I am the one behind all of this, but actually it was not my idea, nor did I lead anyone to the idea or anything. Although, I fully support this idea.
Ok, a couple of things to explain. First off, I had an idea that Loren wasn't gonna like this idea, so that's what the first part was about. Second, we only planned having a session down on our side of town for 1 Saturday and if people liked it and thought it was a good place then we would consider having it there for good. Also, the purpose for the reasons were so Loren could consider this as a good place to play so maybe he wouldn't get too upset. The P.S. was because Loren and I haven't been on each others very good sides lately and I knew he would immediately think I was the mastermind behind going to another place.

Also, this post was for Loren because we didn't have everyone's phone number in the club and if he wanted to come, he could have called the others and told them the location. If he didn't want to come he would still have plenty of people to play with.

After this thread Loren posted various posts throughout the forum, this one included. Then I responded badly to some of his posts, mainly the one's in my blog because they were more personal. Then it just escalated from there.

We never intended to have everyone thinking the club was breaking up or that we were trying to break it up. If we were trying to break up the club we wouldn't have given Loren 4 days notice. We still want to be apart of the club and none of the people I've talked to so far have any hard feelings towards anyone.

So that is the gist of what happened. It's over now, I hope, and hopefully sick shredding in Vegas will be going on for a long time to come. :D

Seriously though, is there a way for the mods to move all the Vegas Drama threads to http://www.ausfootbag.org/forums? I think they would be more at home over there.

Hey Guess what! If there is someone near me, and by near me i mean within 40 miles, i would shit my pants. I dont get to play with people. I have played with people at most, 5 times in my year of footbag. If you dont get to go to every club meeting, big fuckin deal. Play on your own. Play with the people nearest you, make a club meeting whenever you can. Sure, my club is perfect. Every time i have a session planned everyone shows up ON TIME. But not every club can be as good as mine. Until every club is as good as mine is, there will be arguments. I remember one night i argued with the members of my club on whether to hold the session in my front or back driveway. You know what that argument got me? A bloody nose and no more imaginary friends. Dont be drama lovers. oh guess what again. I bike everywhere. Get a bike. Biking 26 miles would take at most an hour.

It would be a great warmup, and im sure you can bike through town easier than you can drive. Driving from one end of vegas to the other took about 10 times longer than it should have.

End the fight now or i will forget everything i remember from Vegas. hmm... its already setting in. I hope you resolve your problem, Lenny and Bill.

I've never really had a problem being motivated to get somewhere to shred.

Neither has Rory.

Or Byrin.

I think our club is pretty good about getting places in general...I mean hell, anytime Byrin wants to come shred with us, it's 45 minutes to an hour's drive at least.

And don't make me recall Byrin and I's trip down to Missoula for y'all. ;)

Thanks to everyone who has participated in unifying discussion. I apologize for the seeming inappropriateness, or the apparancy of over-reaction, and for this being the second time I've pulled something of this nature....but it DID work with Evan, and I believe this thread is the reason this will be solved, over, and done with by the end of Saturday.

A couple quick factors of supreme importance to the understanding of this topic:

1. The meetings have been in the same place since 1993, and need to be held in public.

2. I did not set up the meetings next to my house, I moved to where I am to be next to the meetings (after having to have my mom bitch about driving and make me late half the saturdays).

3. There are a great many people who are in the club (albeit less dedicated and infrequent in their attendance) who have nothing to do with the forums who live in various places all over town, not simply concentrated around Jeff's house, 5 of which live within a very short distance of the University (myself, John, Luke, Natalee, and Eileen, who have all been in the club longer than any of the people wishing to move to meeting...not to mention Chris who doesn't come but wants too and lives 3 miles to the east, rather than up in the NW, or Brian and Shawn who used to live in the neighborhood as well.)

4. The meeting is held in a central location for a reason, and will not be moved to the uppermost corner of BFE NW Las Vegas.

5. ALL THE PEOPLE WISHING TO MOVE THE MEETING HAVE THEIR OWN VEHICLES, Travis and I (the dedicated opposers) do not.

6. I started a Vegas session blog so that seperate sessions may be set up on the west during the week where it would be convienient for a small group to meet and so that I'd be informed rather than always having to hear about them after the fact, and since there are meetings there anyway there's no reason to move Saturday.

7. There are a GREAT many people with whom I've lost communication through the theft of my cell phone who may randomly show up at the stage to play on Saturday, and I have made a commitment to be there permanently.

8. And this is my favorite...The person who TAUGHT ME what it meant to be a good freestyler, and the second longest playing member of the footbag club next to Mike, Zack Cherwin, who a couple of you from LA know, lives practically 40 miles!!! to the SE of the campus, as compared to a measly 26 miles to the NW (which I believe is the furthest out anyone lives in that direction), and he usually is unable to make the sessions due to lack of gas money and has no one to carpool with, though all the complainers make it every week and live with their parents and have no shortage of funds, and he would never be able to make it once if the meeting were placed 60 miles from his house. We would be essentially be cutting off our source of knowledge about the sport from the sessions (for you may not know this, but although I met Mike first, Shawn, who taught me to hack, met Zack first and saw his first double around the worlds and walk overs, and was thus influenced to continue playing beyond a couple hundred kicks, all stalls and jesters, rather than getting bored and quitting as we were doing prior to meeting him, before coming to the club, meeting Mike, and repopulating the scene just prior to the threat of it's extinction.)

So quit your bitchin, learn to carpool more, ask me for gas money if you need it, and stop being selfish and/or lazy about transportation. It reflects badly on all of you, and here I am trying to bring you into the community and give everyone a positive impression of the players here. And a special thanks to Steve for making the effort to communicate, cheer me up, calm me down, and allow me to fix all this, and to Travis for sticking by me through thick and thin.

I'll see you all on the stage on Saturday.

Peace,
Bum 8)
