The X Games

So, I met Ellis Piltz, John Schneider, Bob Reiffer and Kenny Schultz this weekend among many other badazz shredders, some of which I don't know their names, at the X Games. It was incredible and awe-inspiring to watch and experience. KickBag almost got kicked out of the games for it too. We decided to ditch the demo area they had setup and go into the crowd and kick there, but security said that the kickers were too good and crowds were starting to gather. We managed to calm them down, but we had to kick somewhere else.

I can't tell you enough how nice all of them were either. No egos or stupid shit like that. They were happy to be there and grateful to us for supplying water. That was the best/least we could do for such amazing atheletes. We hope we will be able to do more for them, for the current pro's and for the upcoming third generation as well.

Let me just tell yuh...

I am not a freestyler. See, I use to come from the train-of-thought that anything that requires short shorts, no shirt, and special shoes has got to be just simply ridiculous. Since seeing some of the "old pros" I am going into training starting today. Freestyle is just incredible, and I want to do it.

I will let you know how it goes.

because all the older freestylers play it now.

you'll never believe this, i went to this thing called cornerstone ( its a big band thing, like almost 300 bands in 4 days, its crazy, like 40,000 people), and i saw the 3 time world champ in footbag golf!

he could do mirages and stuff. but the funny thing i thought was the fact that he was like prideful cause he was better then us, thats when my longest string was like mirage>butter>legover. lol anyway it was interesting to say the least. i also met that guy that had over 1000 hacks in a 5 min time peroid.

This may sound stupid but I've never heard what footbag golf actually is. Is it like frisbee golf but with a footbag or what?

yeah it's like that. you have 'holes' (basketsis a better word) and you kick you're bag around (diff. bags for diff. shots) and try and complete the course in as little shots as possible. It's fun to play in player hostels, in the street, in parcs, drunk, stoned, at 5am, whatever. It's a bunch of laughs that's for sure..

You Dropkick It. And you have to drop it from your hand and then kick it when you are 'putting'. Also if you are within like 10 feet of the whole you have to stand with your toe on the ball where it landed (and just use a different one to kick it in). It's a lot of fun to play, but I was dissapointed I couldnt toe stall it and then throw it in.

How come nobody made a big deal about this? This is pretty big stuff! Did anything ever eventuate from this?
Maybe we should put together a group of elite freestylers and send them to Xgames each year and maybe some other events too? We do really need publicity for footbag!

it's a fucking great idea as far as footbag is but as someone who watched the xgames, it will never become an xgame because it's not xtreme. i wish it was though!! it'd be nuts to see a new sport aprear in the xgames... they could have both(freestyle and net)

but it's still fun to know that some ppl like watching freestylers better than the xgames! heheheheh

Yeah, if footbag was ever to get into the Xgames, it'd have to be trials. Allen probably already wins the gold. Then again, he's the only person I've ever seen do trials.

footbags cool enough for the x games but not xtreme enough.
no one could get really hurt doing it.
The x games likes it when their athletes tell stories of how many bones they broke

I believe the first Australian footbag Championships was held at the X-Games in Sydney a few years back.

Maybe we could spice it up--- just for the xgames. How about this: if you drop, two big burly men come and beat the shit out of you with baseball bats. Seems pretty fucking Xtreme to me (it's even more extreme cause there's no 'e' in the word)!
